home gym so they must have broken in

In a commercial gym = hotness + respect

On the proviso that they aren't just doing a gazillion reps of isolation exercises. That goes for guys or girls though.

When that girl who wears make up and did her hair is doing leg presses on the assisted pull up machine I'm like "wtf is she thinking?"

But when that one girl comes in who looks like she just rolled out of bed and doesn't give a duck, starts to perform snatches and C&J's with perfect form, i stand square in front of her, right hand over my heart and recite the pledge of allegiance.

vaguely annoyed that she's statistically way more likely to get flirted with in between sets than I am.

    Awesome :) hehehehe

I don't do heavy weight lifting (at 95 pounds what would be a lot to me isn't all that impressive), but I do lots of acrobatic type stuff (press handstands, one arm handstands, planches, etc) and other body weight stuff. I definitely get applause on occasion and some "looks".

This is good to read considering how awkward it feels being in our weight room.

Love it. Theres a girl in my gym who does Bench, DL and Squat and she makes me go weak at the knees :flowerforyou:

But theres only about 3 girls who come into the free weight room. I wish more did

Right?? I have yet to even touch the weight room. I don't even know where to begin anyway so I'd make a fool of myself :p

I'm sticking to the pool =p

The testosterone in the weight room is overwhelming :D

Don't care just remember its a weight room and not for stretching in the mirror or setting up camp on a bench (I will remove anyone's towel, water botttle, ipod or magazine if you are yakking to a friend on a treadmill and what's with talking on the phone. I will have a look... But I really don't care I'd you're there to workout, prefer that to a screamer, BO wafter or weight dropper.

When I/my workout partners come in, the guys get out of our way. They know which corner we're going to claim, and that we're going to be needing one of those incline benches, thanks. The guys who work there call us "The Power Rangers", and occasionally a guy will come over to ask a question or give admiring encouragement. I still haven't been asked for a "spot" yet, but I'm hopeful.

    I think it's great!
It shows that this lady is one of the few - the 1%.

    Good for her:drinker:

Not a single woman does at either of the gyms I use. One is a less serious, day to day gym with a decent weights section and the other is a pit of testosterone, steroids and steel. It's a shame, but both places are full of posers with twig legs.

It'd be awesome to see some women folk doing it though. I have massive respect for women that do.

My weight room at my gym is so tiny, so usually I cant get in there if other blokes are. And I feel totally nervous!! But thinking about it, I dont know why???? Maybe because I can only lift about 10kg as Im much stronger lower half than upper, and I dont want to be laughed at/have a snide comment etc. But after reading what you guys have posted on here, maybe I should do!!

I am glad they are there fighting the same battle for fitness as I

I was really nervous about it the first time, because I wasn't sure how to begin or what to do. I took one hour with a trainer and he went through some basics with the free-weights (he doesn't really like machines...) so I was able to at least get started and not feel like a complete dork!

I am happy that women do not go into the weight room. I love being alone with the guys....I really do not like to share

I would love to try out the weight room in my gym, but it's always occupied by these big muscled men and honestly too scared to ask them a question. We do have a women only part in our gym that I use, but the equipment is not the same as in the weight room.
  • Well most of the time in my gym, I'm the only woman in the free weights area & many times I get weird looks from guys & even from trainers. One trainer was surprised when he saw me deadlifting with heavy barbells & one guy saw me doing bench press & talked to me with a quite doubt if I can lift that heavy & couldn't believe that I can lift until he saw it with his own two eyes. But I don't care, I'm there to workout & not to impress anyone.

Love the guys that support women in the gym. Thank you for understanding that while you love reaping the benefits of a hot bod - it is a actually a result of hard work.

Hate the guys that act like they own the weight room - sorry boys

I work out in a base full of Marines, and I have no problems pushing them out of the way to grab my bad *kitten* 10lbs'ers

I'm the only girl in my weights area and i always wonder what they think. I hope they're not thinking oh het out the way! I'm lifting heavy and i'd like to think i belong there just as much as they do!

lol I love when guys all of the sudden straighten up and assume perfect poses when we walk by. Makes me wanna go there and pat them on the head! "so cute!" *swoon*

but is not a bad thing, us girls do the exact same thing!!!! :drinker:
