No, you can't put up posters for this kind of lost. Jake Boy died on February 9th at 5pm. He was 13 years old and spent 12 of his years in a loving home with my parents and I. He was my parent's 4th kid. He was an amazing soul.
His "baby photo" Shortly after we brought him home:

Jake was found by my Ma when he was just over a year old. He had road rash, was skinny as all get out and had a huge gash on his head. My mom took him in while she was on her lunch break at her old job where she worked with kids. She asked her boss if she could put him in the small fenced in play area (for the kids) and her boss said yes. Ma walked this stray dog through a room for toddlers. The stray had to lick every single kid's face.

He ended up at the no kill shelter for 5 days, when no one claimed him, they called my Ma. Ma took him to the vet to be looked over and "fixed" We were told he was under fed, looked as though he was thrown out of a moving car, and was hand shy. He was prescribed a good 2 weeks of feedings and some rest and love. Jake came home and was amazing.
likepeople.jpg
He was sweet and loving but had a few quirks. He didn't like to have hands over his head, even for pets. He still had this hand shy-ness until his last day. He loves cars and hates to leave them. He HATED water, bath time was always crazy. He never ate nor drank when he was chained outside. Granted he wasn't chained outside often, but even when he had a lot of food and water available, he wanted nothing to do with it.
kisses.jpg
He was house broken when we got him. He knew sit, down, speak, and shake. We taught him to "army crawl" and shake with his other paw as well as give high fives. He never was hungry again. Never missed a crumb and never skipped an offered treat.

Jake died because we put him to sleep so he wouldn't have to suffer from the pain he was experiencing with Jaundice. This is the last photo I took of him. Poor old man was cold, so I covered him up.

I am very sorry for your loss. What a beautiful story you shared about your time with him. He was very lucky to have had such wonderful people who took him in and cared for him. Losing a pet is hard. I have lost a few in my lifetime and it was difficult. Although it is hard to lose them, I would not trade the years of love and happiness we gave each other. So sorry :(

You and your family gave Jake heaven on earth. I am convinced after, having been involved in pitbull rescue on and off for a few years (the results of abominable cruelty -- the capacity for cruelty towards animals -- I have seen would make a man faint), that a rescued dog (and cats) know and appreciate their good life with a loving family.

I lost my Bridget over two years ago. She was nearly 15. As much as I love my Bonnie, a rescued pit from a fighting ring, I think of Bridget and recall our years together fondly. And I am sure you will do the same.

As painful as it is to loose Jake, he is still in the arms of bountiful love. Sometime, when you and your family are ready, you will find another dog companion. He or she will not replace Jake, but their love and affection, their place in your family will be as special.

What a beautiful baby! It sounds like he had a great life with people who loved him. I am truly sorry for your loss and know the pain. I lost my sweet lab mix after 15 years. They become part of the family and will never be forgotten. You will be in my thoughts as will Jake. Take care and remember the good times with a dog who's life your Ma saved. That is the best feeling in the world.

Jake knew he was loved, and you loved him right to the end. You did the right thing for him even if it is so hard on you. He'll be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you with a big ole smile on his face and hoping you have a treat for him!
I am so sorry for your loss, it brings tears to my eyes.

    Aww, honey <3

It's the hardest thing in the world to lost your dog. They love you unconditionally and are always there for you. It was really hard for my to lose my first dog. I'd had him since I was 4 and he passed away while I was away at college. To make matters worse, he died at one of the worst times in my life. I was already seriously depressed and battling anxiety and an eating disorder, my roommate hated me, the only friend I had at that school was murdered two weeks after my dog died, and I hated the program I was in. It sucked a lot. We ended up getting a new dog who is the complete opposite of my old dog, but it still hurts to think about him...it really was like losing my little brother.

I know exactly how you are feeling. I had moved away 200miles and had to leave my baby behind as I was moving into a flat and worked all day so she (Shari) stayed with my mum. She let me know on Wed 26th Jan that it was her time and she was going to have to be put to sleep. She had gone downhill fast and thought it best before she too was in any kind of pain. I took holidays and went to see her for the last time. I took her for her last walk (she wanted to see the field that she loved playing in so much) & she took her last breath at 1230pm on the 27th (crying as I write this - still so difficult). We were lucky to have her from 12wks old to 15yrs old and she was loved so much, she was a mini human and all her antics will stay with me till the day I die. We got her cremated and I am getting some of her ashes to stay with me. This is a poem that was in the small 'chapel' where we took her and although it breaks my heart everytime I read it, has helped.

    The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this, the last battle, can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.

Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree,
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must be you,
    Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Take care and I hope you are able to remember all the good times
