I'm not into eating many snacks between meals but will need to start doing that to keep my calories up. I just found this list of 100 Healthy snacks that I thought I'd share.

    ***Air-popped popcorn, plain. Technically that's a veggie I suppose!

The BEST foods are veggies first then fruit. Don't let the industrial food complex brainwashers fool ya!

I believe corn is a grain actually.
  • I like to eat some dates , they are sweet and full of iron 25gm is about 66 cal .

Trader Joe's Fiberful Rolled Oats & Chocolate Chip Granola Bar! It looks small, but at only 120 calories & 9 grams of fiber, it packs a wallop! (And it tastes like you're eating CANDY!!)

And only 6 grams of sugar! Love those TJ's bars!

Other favorites: Thomas' Multigrain English muffins (100 cals, 8g fiber!) w/ Smart Balance Olive Oil spread, raw almonds, trail mix (all unsalted nuts, sometimes with raisins), 100 calorie packs (most varieties) to satisfy sweet or salty cravings without the binge factor

Half to a whole cup of part skim / low fat ricotta cheese with a spoon of my favorite extracts (vanilla or almond), a drop of blue agave sweetener (or artificial sweetener if you use it), Sometimes I do add fruit.

Tea or coffee and 2 lower calorie cookies.

Dark chocolate but just a bite.

A quarter to a half cup of cereal with soy milk.

  • For the protein junkies: 1 cup of fat free plain yogurt (or greek yogurt) + 1 scoop of protein powder of choice (e.g. vanilla or strawberry) + some frozen berries. Put it in the freezer for 1/2 hour for some poor-man's 'frozen yogurt'. Has about 250 cal altogether, so not totally low calorie, but you can always half the portion.

Edit: Frozen berries, as small as they are, I guess are still fuits :) You can remove them just fine for the not-so-fancy recipe: 1 cup of yogurt + 1 scoop of protein powder.

30gm of light cheese (with cherry tomatoes or a carrot).

Green tea with 2 squares of chocolate/dark chocolate (dessert snack)

    Soy Latte with vanilla/hazelnut

tsp peanut butter and glass of milk

    Kitkat (dessert snack)

1/2 cup non-fat plain yogurt (Greek is yummy), strawberries (yes, this is fruit), and 2 tbsp granola

1/2 cup non-fat plain yogurt sweetened with 1/2 tbsp Billy Bee's honey

1/2 cup non-fat vanilla yogurt (yes, I love yogurt)

3 cups air-popped plain popcorn (so cool to make under a clear lid!)

1/4 - 1/3 cup trail mix - cashews, almonds, pistachios, sunflower/pumpkin seeds, and peanuts, unsalted

2 tsp nestle chocolate syrup in 1 cup 2% milk

Snacks I am going to try:

    cashew butter

Pumpkin seeds, in the shell. Out of the shell they're okay but I like em whole. Of course they're crazy salty so if sodium is a worry, not a good option.

Also Clif bars. If I forget to bring my lunch or get pressed for time and can't stop somewhere for dinner, one of those gets me by for a few hours.
