rural and murderer (damn r's!). Also I know it's wrong, but when someone says nuclear correctly, I have to think about it because I am so used to hearing "nuculear" that I'm not sure who's right or wrong anymore. Oh and realtor..I like to say real-a-tor0

I call Pancakes Pan a Cakes, And I ALWAYS will =D
My daughter pronounces it that way, and I love it!
I have trouble saying rear-wheel drive. It comes out like "rer-wer drive". I have to say it really slow, or I just say back-wheel drive, lol, and my husband makes fun of me all the time.0 -
Rural. I get stuck on the r sound and then try to salvage it by throwing in the l sound and end up sounding like I'm being strangled.0

            Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. :noway:
Can you believe I ran into this word TWICE (!) in the last year.
And by the way, it's the fear of long words.
I love this! Can't believe I've never come across it before.0 -
Since I'm Canadian, usually anything that ends in "-ouse" and been (I pronounce it bean, not bin).0

WOW. I like your username. LOLThere are a lot of words on this thread that I don't even know much less have the ability to pronounce.
back on topic.... I cant roll my Rs..... so anything that requires that, i cant say. I have lived in several places in the US... so I don't have any particular accent, but I will subconsciously change how i pronounce words... and grammar for that matter, depending on where I am.0 -
poem... is it po-ahm or poym?
I also get stuck on pronouncing people's last names. I started listening to them pronounce them, then, running to a post it note and writing it phonetically.0 -

Yup, town in Massachusetts of Worcester is pronounced Woostah.worcestershire sauce
I honestly believe it's stranger if you CAN say this.

            aspartame.
I know how it is supposed to be pronounced, but it will always be "as-part-uh-me"
I got made fun of so bad for thhis ... I also have trouble with salmon. People correct me saying its SAMON but I say salmon.0 -
Anything with an R and a W. I have a speech problem and I have to try really, really hard. xD I get them confused so things come out like this if I speak too fast (or without thinking), "She rowe a wed dwess at the redding." (Translation: She wore a red dress at the wedding.)
I have a speech problem as well
For me it's words with the letter R in them. Example: Park they ask me when I say it if I am from New York bc I say it differently. That and when I say peaches ppl think I am saying pizza:noway: Also ppl make fun of the way I pronuce spaghetti:blushing: 0 -

worcestershire sauce
I can't say that one. And for some reason, "comfortable" always sounds weird when I say it.
My friend is having troubles with the word "proprioception" so that it comes out like "procreation".
My 11-yr. old always says "Aminals" instead of animals, even though I've corrected him and practiced with him.
Hubby says "death" instead of "deaf", as in "She's death!"0 -
any word with alot or Rs in it (murderer)
Then again i am french

Apparently I say certain words with a Trinidadian accent, even though I've been in Canada a long time.
One thing I get confused by, is how some people pronounce "button" ....Um, it almost sounds like "buh-in". Is this common where anyone else is?
(now I'm saying "button" to myself to see how I pronounce it) :blushing:0 -
            cinnamon and spaghetti0

Buccal. I always want to pronounce it b-you-cle, but it's pronounced "buckle". I can pronounce it, it' just that the other pronunciation always comes to mind first.
Also, up until a few week ago, I always thought voluptuous was volumptuous (with an 'm' in the middle). It makes total sense to me, because women with more volume are called voluptuous. I still like my version better.
My boyfriend always says "corky" instead of "quirky, but in insists his version is right too.0 -
I have a hard time prouncing "I'm wrong", it comes out sounding like "its your fault"0

That's how I pronounce button.
  It's common here. I don't consider accent variations to be words I can't pronounce, though. 0 -
I can't seem to get my head and mouth around the words revelation (there are times I switch the v and l) and annihilation. And when I say orange juice, it sounds "orance juice". Oh, and pistachios are mistachios...
I'm fine with German. English- I do have to think about a few words. And I was an English teacher in China....0 -
