I'm fairly new so I haven't seen the pics you're talking about. But regardless of the slut factor or not, I think there's a problem with posting certain types of images on a forum.

I used to Admin a forum and those types of pictures (nudes, spread legs, obvious "come do me" poses) attracts the wrong kind of people. Not people who are interested in the point of the forum. They just come to troll for hot chicks. It creates a problem for everyone. So we didn't allow those types of posts. You especially don't want that type of conduct going on when there are young girls posting. Exposing them to predators is just wrong.

So no, I don't have a problem with revealing photos that are tasteful and obviously meant to show off your progress. But I would object to those photos that attract predators. You really don't want that here.

Just would like to state that this is supposed to be a site for adults 18+ (had to word that right) I'm sure there are some under age people on here but there parents should be watching them. If they are on this site or any other site if they are under age they shouldn't be posting their pics online period that might just be my over protective side showing when it comes to the little ones in my family.

Obviously you can be confident in your body without needing other people to see it. Cos when you think about it, you need other people's validation or approval if you show it off? I don't want to sound Amish here. I would wear a bikini on the beach, but my skirts would be a bit longer than average and I certainly would never want that awkward feeling that my top was showing a bit too much cleavage.

someone reported one of my pics too!!! oh well people are just haters!!! =) I think if youve worked hard on your body, then of course you should show it off with your pics on here JUST LIKE everyone else does posting their progress....

A woman who believes that she is sexy is attractive...

A woman who believes that she is intelligent is intriguing...

Yet a woman who inspires others to find the beauty and intellect within themselves is truly magnificent ;)

Case in point---> keep motivating your MFPs to strive for the best and keep celebrating your success!! There's always going to be people who try to stain your confidence with their insecurities...*kitten* 'UM!!

so because she has the opinion opposite of you, your reply contains a sarcastic and even quite possibly an insulting undertone? i dont think thats fair. if she chooses to have that opinion, we should choose to respect it, that is, if respect is what your asking for when referencing to "slutty" photos.

She got ~my~ sarcastic tone in retort because she made a blanketed stereotype that showing oneself == no self respect.

Your body is meant for you and the person you want to share it with.

    Not the internet.

What if the person I want to share it with IS the internet??

To bad the internet is NOT a person.

    Oh, aren't you a peach!

that being said, i agree that confidence and sluttiness are two very different things. however when you post pictures, whatever they may be, it no longer is your business but becomes the business of everyone else who views it.

however, when i reach my goal, i plan to rock it where appropriate. which means i wont be wearing anything in any photos that i wouldnt wear outside. a chick in her workout gear or bathing suit = not slutty. a chick lying in a sexual position on a bed with a "bathing suit" that has barely enough pieces on it to cover her nipples or vag = slutty.

The awkward moment when someone tries to discredit something because it contains a fallacy by using a fallacy...

I posted a light, jovial response: "what if the person I want to share with IS the internet" and either the poster didn't get the joke, or she has a stick in her *kitten* about it... I don't care what she thinks about nudity or sluts, but her lack of a sense of humor is disappointing.

There's a difference between confidence and being easy. Plenty see them as the same thing, it's been an issue for women for ages and probably will continue to be. It's always going to offend someone, always going to attract a creep, and is always going to cause some ruckus. You know your intentions, but they don't. If you have people defriending you and slinging names around, you don't need them.

The term 'slut' seems to have become synonymous with 'female human being' recently. I see tons of guys who's MFP profile pictures are their shirtless torsos, yet there's outcry over a woman's avatar being a bikini photo or her in a sports bra. Given that this is a forum for weight loss and fitness, I don't see why it's such a terrible thing for anyone, man or woman, to show off their progress.

Don't like partially clothed photos? Don't take one of yourself then. Simple as that in my opinion.

I find it interesting that only one person seems to have a different opinion and she is being ganged up on for it. I believe that the OP was asking for an opinion and when one person came along that didn't agree with the majority she must be wrong and picked on.

Personally I don't need to see all of everyone. If I wanted to see all of that there are plenty of porn sites out there that I could visit. Do I think that revealing pictures make someone slutty? No but I think there is a misconception that a person is slutty if they post provocative pictures. To play devil's advocate here, the internet is a very public place. I hire people as part of my job and I never hire anyone without doing a search on the internet for them. It is amazing what a potential employer can see just by typing a name in Google. So for myself, I don't post anything online or photos of myself online that I would be ashamed if my employer saw.

    Exactly.

    & I completly agree.

Majority of hired employees have had an internet search done on them.

Being revealing doesn't always equal confidence. You have some women who have to be revealing because they have no substance, confidence or self esteem and that is the only way they can get noticed. Of course there are people who are confident so they don't mind wearing revealing clothing, basically its just not a good way to measure someone's confidence. Confidence is an attitude and not how you dress.

    Agree
  • It's not about confidence it's about modesty. I try to dress the way I'd want other women to dress around my husband. So, I have not seen your pictures, but I probably wouldn't agree with them. NOT saying I'm not happy for you or proud of your beautiful assets, I just believe there is a time and a place for everything. But then again I'm a pretty conservative girl, so..

But the point still stands: why does that matter to YOU? No one is asking you to put up pics that you don't find comfortable for you.

actuallly thats not at all what i said.

& if you cant respect other ppls opinions you shouldnt ask for them or even be in the forums at all.

    Plain and simple

    oh - 100% !!

These are NOT public pictures at all. private groups, PMs, crap like that.

heh - and no, no spread legs poses. hhhahahhah.
Pfft! I would have no problem with that and don't consider those girls slutty. If you work that hard to improve your body, I totally understand wanting to show it off and get some feedback in a private or semi-private place.

If you've never been called a slut online or offline, you're doing it wrong.

I guess I must be doing things right then...

Is there a reason you keep referring to me??

I wasnt the one who asked for an opinion on this subject.

    She asked for OPINIONS.

    Everybody has thier own.

It is my opinion. Nothing more and nothing less. That is what was asked in this post.
