I was eating ~1400-1450 while losing, now slowly creeping towards maintenance and doing more strength training, so I've recently upped to 1560. Took me about a year to lose 40 pounds, and I'm pretty happy with the loss rate.

Your ticker says you lost 10, though. 10 pounds in 4 weeks is NOT BAD at all. Could it be water weight? I know us ladies have that problem sometimes....; ) Keep at it.
The 10 lbs was from before. Back in February I already had a profile on here but I wanted to giver for 5 wks straight to see what I could accomplish. I told myself I wouldnt weigh myself in til closer to the end. Today marks my 4 wks at it and I thought worst case is I just weigh the same. I sure hope it's water weight. St. Patrick's Day I drank. A few ppl said it could be that... This is a great thread tho! I love seeing successful stories of ppl who didn't starve themselves to look/feel healthy!

Don't weigh after drinking alcohol......maybe you need to shock your system to get you over the hump? Do a cleanse? Try to vary you intake one day to the next. Watch you sodium and sugar intake. Just an idea...0 -
Ed, Absolutley INSPIRING! :noway:
Congrats to everyone with their before & after pics, you all look great!0 -
I constantly am eating above my BMR, I do eat back my exercise calories.... (current BMR is 2160 with my 500 calorie deficit built in to lose 1 lb. a week and I am eating around 3000 calories a day currently)
May 2009 @ 560 lbs.
Current weight @ 257 lbs.
I must say, I've seen your story before on this site, and you're still the most inspiring person here! :flowerforyou:
ETA: I would just like to add that this entire thread is full of win.0 -
I love food - no starving myself here! I think the least I ate was around 1500, but now that I'm maintaining I try to eat a minimum of 2300 calories/day. I'm 5'10" btw.
Before (294 lbs, approximately 56% body fat):
Now (156 lbs, approximately 22% body fat or maybe a little less):
btw - strength training rocks
Wow! You look amazing! Great job!0 -

Bump!
I'm set at about 1600 cals. Not enough on Jillian days! I'll eat something snackish like yogurt or cereal or a burger and 30 minutes to an hour later, I'm starving again. :grumble: Do this about 4 times and there goes my tracking! :sad:0 -
This thread is so wonderful!!! Thank you everyone!0

WOW SO INSPIRING. You all look fabulous! I have a few questions for you guys since your success rate is VERY high and you all look so great...So I have a very active job...I walk anywhere from 5-10 miles a day (usually around 40 miles a week) (unloading trucks) just at work alone..not including any extra exercise I do...MFP has me set at 1400 calories..but I have a fit bit and it adds in the extra calories I need to eat..I'm NOT sure if it's accurate...Some days it brings it up to almost 2500 (even more than that)...and usually I don't eat close to that....My BMR is like 1700 so this has been a point of confusion for me too...I feel like I need to be consuming more...but I'm still unsure of what the right thing to do is...I seem to be losing verrry slowly. I started in January and I've lost around 20 pds..maybe even a little more..I also want to start weight lifting...so if anyone has any tips. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. One last thing... what does TDEE mean?0

Just posted my success story a few minutes ago and then saw this thread. No starvation here, started at 1500 calories but usually eat 1700-2000. Eat my exercise calories too.0

BUMP this is an amazing thread!0

Like most everyone, I started here at 1200 because I wanted the weight GONE as soon as possible. That lasted for about a month before I realized that wasn't a good game plan. For the majority of my weight loss, I ate between 1350-1500 plus exercise calories, so typically between 1800-2000 total calories a day. For exercise, I run and strength train. I recently had to increase my calories to over 1800 net because I was still losing on maintenance!
But what I find more amazing is that last time I tried to lose weight, and ate under 1000 calories a day, I looked a LOT different at my "goal weight."
Amazing!!!!! Your hard work has really paid off! What kind of strength training do you do?0 -
bump! very inspirational! I started eating the calories it states I should and I'm not going to weigh myself for another week.0

wow such an inspiration to have lost so much weight ! Great job(:0 -
I'm new and if I'm hearing you all correctly, I should not stick to the 1200 cals the MFP suggests? I have to admit, I am hungry but it's only been a week. I'm down a few pounds but I figured that was water etc which is pretty normal for me when I start a new program. Thoughts.0

Lookin' good! Here's my before and after pics. It took me 17 months to do this, and I did NOT starve myself, take any pills, or do anything else that people may think is a 'shortcut'.0

Here are some of mine from a thread I posted about 8 months ago. I'm currently about 7lbs LIGHTER than the "AFTER" pics, so I really should make an update soon. I'm pretty much in Maintenance mode now. Am hovering in about a 5lb zone.
I eat back my exercise calories and never set my net limit over 1lb per week, although in the beginning, there were many weeks where I lost well over 1lb.
Weight between 250-260lbs:
Mmmm, healthy eatin there! :noway:
Hey, I think I see a cheeseburger joint!
Ugh... Frankly, I'm embarrassed to post this one
Hey Abe does this Tricorne hat make me look fat?

First picture was 194.2 lbs on 1/9/12
Second was 2 weeks ago at 175 lbs.
I have lost another couple lbs since the last picture and still have 23 lbs left to loose.
I usually eat 1400-2300 calories a day. Just depends on my exercise, where I am at on my weekly goal and if I'm hungry or not.
I'm 5'10" and my goal is 150 lbs
You can veiw my diary if you want. I tend to focus more on the weeks calorie goals then the daily. That is why I have days where I am way over and under. I think zig zaging my calories helps me.
holy crap! you look great! i can't believe you need to lose 23 more lbs... i don't see it!
Thats a really good picture. If you saw me in person you would see the extra 23 lbs. too! :noway:0 -

Total Daily Energy Expenditure....
You probably need to be eating an upwards of 2000 calories or more a day, however, 20 lbs in 10 weeks is 2 lbs a week which is the highest amount anyone will recommend. I think you are doing great! keep up the good work!

this thread makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. You're all so inspirational!! :flowerforyou:0

No starvation. In fact I'm eating more and more often that I have when I weighed a lot more. Making better choices, though, and exercising a LOT more. I made it to my goal weight, so now I'm going to start lifting to develop a little more muscle. I expect I'll be eating even more during this phase.0

Absolutely AMAZING!! Truly inspirational pics!0
