I weighed in at 160.4!!!!!!!!!!! Wow...I was so ridiculously nervous getting on the scale. My body feels jittery. Anyway, we're getting ready for him to go do his challenge (run 5 miles). Ok I have a question now. I put a post out there but not many people answered me and I trust you guys a lot more. I'm finding it harder to loose weight as I'm getting closer to my goal. I have heard of this happening to others but never really paid attention. What can I do to keep loosing the weight. I have never eaten my exercise calories (doctor ok'd by the way) So is this the time that I should start eating like half of my exercise calories or should I just see how it goes after finally getting back on track now. I have no idea and I really don't want to see my doctor just for this. So confused. I know some of us have gotten to our goals. O thank you so much you guys for being there for me. I don't know what I would do without you guys. :drinker:
Congrats on your success thus far!! You can do this!! I agree with everyone that it's time to really tighten up on your food intake. Really watch out for those uncounted calories (the things we taste while cooking & cleaning up dinner plates, etc.) Try to make adjustments where you can & avoid empty calories as much as possible! For instance, at the end of the day you may have 200 calories left for a "snack" do you choose a cookie or a handful of almonds.... those little choices really do matter when you get down to the end!
You can do it!! You're doing great!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Kath,
You've done a great job. You can do this.
Try and tweak some things perhaps to get it fine tuned.
Since you made your diary public, I thought I would go take a look.
I'm no expert, but I noticed a few things I would like to comment on that might help.
First, you know about your sugar.
Perhaps replace those cravings with something good.
Don't say, no sweets and try to drop it cold turkey, replace it with something else good.
I mentioned in another thread, that my Protein shake, with a frozen banana, or PB, is my sweet treat. I think of it as that chocolate shake.
The days your sugar wasn't way over, your sodium was way over. That could be a problem.
Last thing I noticed, is from what I read, we should try to balance out the calories we are eating all day. When you work out and add 600 + calories. We can't add this to one meal.
So you know you have to eat 2000 calories a day, then spread it out. try for ~300-350 every meal.
Somtimes you were having 150 calories and then a meal you were having 800-900 calories.
Also if you know it's going to be a big calorie meal. Split it up, give yourself a doggie bag, and eat it 2-3 hours later.
Hope some of this helps.:flowerforyou: :drinker:
This is really great advice! I never thought about stretching out those "earned" calories like that, but it really does make perfect sense!0 -
He did it! 5 miles in 42 min 57 sec. I was quite impressed. So, we both met our goals. :drinker:
Those of you having trouble or slowing with the weight loss---- just don't get discouraged. Look how far you have come. You will get there. It's a known fact that the closer you get to your recommended weight, the slower it comes off. I read something yesterday that said it could take anywhere from 3-6 months to get rid of the last 10 lbs. We all know we can do this. Let's just stick together and get it done!!!
Good luck everyone!!0 -

Holy! Great analysis-I just started yesterday-what I consider "being good". Looking at my sugar intake, most of it was fruit, so I don't like to count that-you're supposed to have fruit. The nuts idea is great, forgot about about that for an evening snack. Yesterday, my meals seemed large, but one was techniquely lunch and post workout smoothie. But you right, I need to lessen the calories at one time. Do you guys see my Comments when you see the diary, cause I can have some rather foul language at times! Wish I had a chef.
On another note, my legs are so sore, I can barely get out of bed. I know tonight I'm going to be naughty. I'm going to a concert with 4 bands-Harlequin, Orphan, Streetheart, Pumps -a lot of old time friends will be there and I know a couple guys in the bands so I'm so excited to see everyone. I will be having a few drinks(probably a few too many!), and this is my big yahhoo for my crappy summer. I will be dancing my heart out and am going to wear my HRM out of curiosity. I know, I know, I ask for help and then I disobey my Coaches. But there are friends in from out of town, it's out here at the lake on the Harbour, we finally got a hotel....just this one K, I promise I will chart everything, dance the calories up a storm. Brad, Sani, Guys? Will you still help me after? Come on Brad, you know what I'm talking about. I'll use diet coke with my whisky.....I can't believe how guilty I feel right now :blushing: :indifferent: :smooched:0 -
There are always excuses aren't there. Last night at work it was a really bad night--So pizza was ordered, you know a stress lunch. I am a sucker for pizza. Three pieces later I am going home to bed and miserable. I can really tell when I have eaten to much fat and calories now. I just don't feel good. I need to have better resolve and realize that just because it is vegie pizza doesn't mean I can eat three pieces!0

Next time pizza comes your way - eat a piece of fruit beforehand & it'll help fill you up & you'll eat less! At least that's the theory that I read in a fitness magazine!! LOL!! I tried it out a few weeks ago with some watermellon & it totally worked!! I only had 2 pieces of pizza & was very satisfied.
Feel better!! :flowerforyou:0 -

I can also tell when I eat greasy pizza I'm sick the rest of the night my new best friend that night is the toilet. I love papa murpheys because they have the diet pizza's or whatever they are called. So I don't feel so guilty about eating that. But I always look the calories up online before ordering.0 -
Thank you everyone for your advice. That is what I needed. :flowerforyou: you guys really are the best.0

Hey Blues.........
Well, I gave up on logging food in MFP and of course, I started eating off track. My main issue is working in exercise. I've still managed to lose 4.5 pounds since I weighed in a little over a month ago but because I'm not exercising like I should, my body isn't changing how I want it too. I think I have my training officer convinced to walk with me for 30 minutes at lunch a few times a week! She really wants to get fit and lose some weight, too. Our job really takes a lot out of you and makes it really hard to be motivated to do anything sometimes but I have faith that we can do it. My hubby has all of the sudden decided he wants to lose 40 pounds while he's gone. I'm glad he wants to do it but now I feel stressed like I should be keeping up with him to actually achieve my goal. I'm not that far behind in where I wanted to be by this point but I feel like I'll let him down if I can't make it happen. I know I'm putting too much pressure on myself but I can't help it! Anyway, I'm glad to see so many of you beautiful blues still keeping it up and doing a great job. It gives me motivation that I can do it, too! Have a fabulous Sunday!

I know how you feel about trying to keep up with your husband. Just remember they tend to loose weight quicker. My husband hasn't completely given up but he isn't really watching too much so now I'm way down and he is just staying the same. I feel happy for myself but of course I want him to be able to loose weight and exercise also.0 -
