Married guys who lift weights at the gym...

I wear my wedding band more often than not when I lift. I do need to get it resized due to it being too big since losing weight though.0
-
I'm not a guy but I always take off my rings when working out even if just going out for a run. Calluses are not attractive on girls.0
-
I know this is for guys, but I take mine off to exercise, clean, or garden. I was in the military and it is just too ingrained in me to take it off when doing anything where it could cause an injury or ruin my ring.0
-
I take mine off when i'm lifting but i wear it doing cardio. I don't want to mess it up or lose a finger!0
-
My husband and I both wear our rings when lifting at the gym... But we also wear gloves... His ring is made of Tungsten so it wouldn't get scratched even if he didn't wear gloves..0
-
I do a bit of lifting at the gym, not nearly as much as I'd like and yes I do keep my ring on, I don't think I would ever take it off!0

so sweet. (and I mean that in a non-homewrecking way)0 -
Wait - are we talking about ALL rings - or just rings on your fingers?0
-
I'm not a guy, but I lift heavy.. and I keep my ring on. Of course, it's a simple gold band. I even keep it on to do deadlifts, so if there's an excuse others give for the ring pinching them, etc, it's not true. Or why are you at the gym if you can't take a tiny pinch on the palm?
I bet your jeweler hates you.
Heavens no! As a jewelers wife I love seeing this.

I always took mine off when I gym ratted. Mainly because I didnt want to damage them. If I am just running on the treadmill or something Id leave it on but weights are a different story. I think its a personal preference and everyones different... and i doubt most guys take off their rings...or girls... because they want to appear single at the gym. (although im also sure there are some that do...)0

I wouldn't because mine was bent so bad doing heavy deads we had to find some pliers to bend it back before my finger turned black from no circulation. Thought we were gonna have to cut it off. Little pinch my @zz...lol.Go heavy or go home!

Not an issue.
When I got married we agreed that I did not have to wear a ring. I didn't wear jewelry before I got married and I wasn't going to start after.0 -
Not a guy, but for me, it's not that they pinch, it's the fact that with my weight loss my rings have gotten some spare room. With that, the pinching actually causes the white gold to bend. After having my rings fixed, reshaped and a garnet replaced in my mother's ring, I decided it was safer to leave them at home rather than destroy them.0

I always take mine off when in the gym.. it buries into my finger too much when I am lifting. and with weight loss it has come off my hand while running...
This and lately I'm afraid Ill lose it so I keep it on my key chain0 -
i don't wear it to the gym nor when i play hockey. But I let my wife know that i'm leaving it at home during those times. Too many scratches from the bar/dumbells. and in the sauna, it can get pretty hot.0
-
No reason why I ask this... I promise. It's just an innocent question. :blushing:
Do you wear your ring when you lift weights?? I would imagine it's a hassle taking it off and putting it back on but I also imagine it could hurt or get in the way when you work out.
I take it off during any strenuous exercise, not just weight lifting. I only have two pieces of "jewelry", my ring and my watch, and they both come off when it is exercise time so they are not damaged or distracting.0 -

Married & I don't wear my ring to the gym.
I have a tungsten ring, pretty big, & it gets in the way. I do, however, wear it everywhere else.0 -
The knurls on the barbell will mess up my ring, so no.0
-
I used to always wear mine when I was younger. That was until my jeweler literally yelled at me after the 5th reshape. I took it off from that point forward.0
-
My husband takes his off. I usually wear mine but I notice the callus forms on the palm under my ring finger, which I thought was because of my ring but in the Starting Strength book Mark Rippetoe says ring wearers will get a callus there even if they don't wear their ring while lifting.0

I'm not a guy, but I don't wear my rings at the gym for the same reason I don't wear them while working pyro, in the machine shop or on the factory floor. When I was in college if the machinist saw you in his shop with rings or dangly jewelry or clothes he'd kick your butt out and tell you to change or put your jewelry in your pockets. Things like that get caught and can cause an injury, not a scratch or a pinch, but a loss of finger. Removing your jewelry around heavy equipment is just a good habit.0

I know I'l catch hell for this... but my husband and I are gonna get wedding band tats! What up!!! We both have jobs where we can't wear our rings when we work... so easy-peasy lemon squeezy probem solved!0

My husband always takes his off to lift. It used to irk me, but now that I started some lifting, I completely understand why he takes it off!! I always take my rings off, even during Zumba or Kickboxing, for fear of it flying off.0

Neither my husband nor I wear our wedding bands when we lift. For two reasons, first, the grips aren't particularly good for the rings (scratches), and second, sometimes it pinches in an odd way. Neither of us particularly likes to wear our ring when exercising in general. We used to take them off juts for the gym, now we just don't wear them much at all. *shrug*
As a side note, I am continually shocked at the number of women who wear rings on the pole. It scratches the pole, and your ring. Just take the damned things off already.0 -
I'd wear mine while lifting if I hadn't lost it. The crazy part is, the wife hasn't noticed I haven't been wearing my ring for the last 3 weeks. I'm just waiting for the day she realizes it, I kind of feel like that kid who's dreading the day his parents see his report card.
Dude - she's noticed. She is waiting to see if you notice and own up.0 -
Been married 21 years and haven't worn my ring since a year after we was married... Use to work on Auto Machine Presses and got the darn thing bent on my finger and barely got it off without cutting it off... We talked about it way back then and decided it was not that big of a deal if I (or she) wore it so since then it has been a non issue... We are both secure in our relationship that our commitment to one another goes alot deeper than any material belongings we may wear... That being said my wife for our 25th Anniversary is eyeballing some new settings for her ring.... lol and I am sure she will be getting it..... :-)0

Yeah I don't wear my ring to the gym at all because it really gets in the way for lifts....that and my hands tend to swell pretty bad. \m/0
-
Don't wear mine at all now because i have to get it resized smaller- I have lost one- nver to be found, and lost this one, but found it. When I did wear it-- I left it on at the gym....
Same here almost exactly. i've been w/out my wedding band for a long time. A few years at least. I tried to buy a super cheap one just so i have one to wear but I ordered it online and it ended up not fitting. I do bring 2 daughters w/me to the gym so they are kind of like my wedding ring when I'm at the gym. When I did have it I wore it everywhere all the time. I still have the habit of spinning it around my ring finger with my thumb...but there is nothing there to spin now.0 -

That's cool, I think they're brilliant ideas although my ex husband has my name on his ring finger. Ooops!!0
