Love this!!!! Strength training is the TRUTH for Apple Shapes like my self. I have lost 5 inches off of my waist.
Very true. I only lost about 20lbs, but I went from a size 14 to a size 6. Strength training is one of the best ways to shape your body!0 -
Seriously? Strength training is the truth for us?????0

bump.
Apple with a big butt. :grumble:0 -
I'm apple shape and I have lost over 50 pounds, I have lost everywhere but in my stomach!0

Another apple shape here! I have lost weight and inches in arms, legs and thighs. My whole body is definitely toning but I haven't lost a single inch or even half an inch in my stomach! It is so frustrating but will keep pushing forward. Just started strength training a week ago and hoping that this helps.
The oddest thing is that my stomach looks flatter and clothes look better but when measured it is still the same. Anyone else have this issue?0 -

Yes. You will see the pounds come off slower, but my waist has whittled down and I am losing inches all over in combination with Cardio Military Drills I am doing with my friend at the gym such as dreaded BURPEES!!!!!0

Try KettleBells! Shred it w/Weights Jillian Michaels is a good start.0

Woohoo! Apples in the house!
I hate finding jeans that fit my legs and then they are way to tight for my waist or vice versa - ahhhhhhh!0 -
omg this sounds like me! My butt even is starting to look great as well as my legs but my stomach and arms are HUGE!0
-
Same problem!! I have lost 47lbs. and my stomach definitely LOOKS smaller but it's still not toned or defined. My legs are great, my arms are getting there, my butt... well, it could use some work, LOL.
I'm considering starting the 30 day shred again because I had great results with it the first time (a few years ago) but gave up. this time I haven't given up on working out (it's been almost 5 months!!!) though.0 -
LOL Don't look at me...Just as I'm starting to feel pretty good about myself for maybe the first time ever, some checkout lady at walmart asks when my baby is due.
Ouch.
LOL0 -
I'm an apple. Unfortunately, I don't have before and after pix because I honestly didn't think MFP would work for me. I was convinced I was eating appropriately and could never figure out why I hadn't lost weight. Boy, was portion control a rude awakening! Anyway, I've lost 40 lbs and gone from a16/18 to a 6/8 in pant size. I still have a little "bubble belly", but I don't think people would realize my shape is apple if I didn't tell them.0

Check out mybodygallery.com. You can choose height, weight, shape, size, etc.0

Bump. I've lost 44 pounds so far, but it seems that none of it has come off of the tummy area. I can't wait until the day it does though!0

I have somehow managed to turn my "apple" body into an "hourglass" one.
Weight: 150: December 2011
Weight: 135: About 2 weeks ago
Side by Side:
The difference 15 pounds (and EXERCISE) makes! Now just working on losing a little bit all over
That gosh darn lower belly pooch is brutal....2 -
I'm an apple too. But despite losing 70 pounds, I'm still an apple. I'll post pictures when I lose more.0

Thanks! I watched what I ate Mon-Fri. Ran 3x a week, did a different Jillian Michael's video 5x a week (I have 7).0 -
I don't know what you would call my shape, but here is my success so far. It's not much, but it's my start.

I don't have any pics yet...I've lost 23 lbs sinc joining mfp generally all over, but I am still the same shape I was 43lbs ago! I am interested in seeing more success pics too--mes1119--you look awesome!
Anyone can add me if they'd like--us apples should stick together! =-)0 -
Hello fellow apples! I don't have any photos of myself but since I started in January I've lost 5inches in my waist and 20lbs.
I too noticed I lost more inches around my waist when strength training. Might have to add it back into my weekly workout again.0 -
Apple here. I'm making progress but the tummy is still there. I too have it where I can see my belly is smaller but it doesn't really measure smaller. Just gotta keep plugging away at it.
Current profile is from last month. There are others in my profile but nothing that shows the belly well because I always tried to hide it.0 -

Thanks! I watched what I ate Mon-Fri. Ran 3x a week, did a different Jillian Michael's video 5x a week (I have 7).
Wow! You did it in three months...I've been at it for the same time and my results are not even close to yours. If you don't mind me asking, what is your daily (net) calories intake and macros look like?0 -
Yup. I'm OBVIOUSLY still in progress. But so far I've lost 27 pounds.
So happy to see an Apple shape thread! I always feel so alone haha!1 -

I've lost a few inches around my middle section from cardio, but now I think I'll add more strength training to my work outs0

I've also been looking for some inspirational "after" apples, and haven't had a ton of luck either. I am 100% apple -- broad shoulders, large bust, wide ribcage, lack of definition in waist, short torso, no bum, long skinny arms and legs. I know I'll never have that tiny hip to waist ratio that I lust for, but I'm determined to get some real ab definition with what I've got to work with! I'm on day 5 of the 30 Day Shred, and I have a body shot in my profile for those looking for a "normal" weight apple shape... If you've got more to lose, maybe I can still inspire you. Hopefully I'll have an even more inspiring one in 25 days!!
This shape describes me to the T. One of the best things about us apples is that you can see muscle definition and pump in your arms when strength training. But the midsection is a pain:grumble:0 -
We really need fruit groups!!!!
Then we could all join the apple, pear etc clubs0 -

I have my net set to 1400 but I don't really look at that. I aim for about 1700 calories a day. I base this on my TDEE (2200-500=1700; 1 pound a week). Some days I'm under, but I make up for it on the weekends. I think our bodies work over longer periods of time than days...
My results are probably a little skewed. I used to be a competitive swimmer and gained about 25 pounds in a year just from letting myself go. I had a good body underneath all the fat, I just needed to eat better and work out again. I try to get 40/30/30 protein, carb, fats. More importantly 120+ grams of protein a day.0
