    Born and raised in Forest Grove/Hillsboro Or. Our town is too small to have stereotypes...lol - Unless you know of any???

    Live in Walla Walla Wa. now - The only thing people know about it is onions come from there...so we are all onion farmers? lol more like most here are wino's. Just a little known fact, We now have more wineries than onion farms.....

    I live in the NC mountains. People often think the natives are just a bunch of moonshiners, rednecks & hunters.

    I don't hunt and I'm not really a redneck (well, until after a few beers then the redneck comes out) but I do enjoy me a little shine now and then.

    When I hear the words New Jersey, that show is the first thing that pops in my mind, and I haven't watched it once. lol

    Basically every stereotype Canadian's get, I've heard..... Especially the pronunciation of "about".

    You mean when your "oot & aboot" :laugh: My wife is from Sask. and whenever she tells someone she is from Canada they act like there is 100 people up there. "Oh yea, we know Bill & Helen from Toronto!"

    Well I am from Albuquerque- and yes I am AMERICAN-not from Mexico-Jeesh :tongue: I heard that so many times when traveling- no I am not Mexican actually I am Irish- but hey!!

    Now I live in Kansas, and three things I can tell you:
    1) I do not own ruby red slippers :noway:
    2) my dogs name is not Toto - it's Coconut :mad:
    3) I do not have a Aunti Em!!!! :explode:

    I live in Nashville, and I hate country music - more of a metal fan. But I am happy to report that we do also have some incredible rock bands here playing in some great clubs. But, yes, sterotypically, most everybody does have a gun under their car seat, so careful with the road rage when driving Nashville interstates. :)

    YUP hahahaha, it's sad... I can't even pronounce it "oot & aboot".... Sounds like a bad Australian accent impression.

    I'm from Houston, Texas. The biggest misconception I have run into is people who don't seem to grasp that Houston is a major city. Land wise, it's the largest city in the country. Population wise, it's fourth. We have huge immigrant populations, large museum and theater districts, and one of the biggest and best medical centers in the world. Yet people come here expecting a farm town with cowboys.

    When I was a teenager, I took a trip to France, and people literally asked me if I rode a horse to school.

    Another time, in middle school, a neighbor's relative came to visit from Indiana. It was his first time in Texas, and the first thing he said when he got there was that he couldn't believe how many limos he'd seen on the freeway. He'd come expecting hicks on horseback, or tractors in the road.

    My mom went on a trip to NYC recently (not her first time there). In anticipation of her trip, she spoke to one of her vendors who lives in NJ. He kept going on and on about New York is a *big city* and he was worried about her getting lost.

    We are Southern, yes, but we are not a hick town!

    Born and raised in Idaho. Biggest misconception is that we are all hillbilly uneducated Podunk white power potato farmers who still live off the land, and carry guns and dogs in our passenger seat.

    I'm from York (in England) and because its in Yorkshire people seem to think that we all wear flat caps and say "eeee by gum" and all live on farms and drive tractors. Either that, or people think you are really really common and live in a hovel... York is one of the poshest places to live in the country!

    The other annoying thing about York is that because its such a tourist hotspot any time you say when you're from York people say "ooooh York! I went to visit York in..." and then go on to tell me a really cliche boring story about what they did in York that I have heard a million times before and, to be frank, really dont care about!

    And if you speak to anybody from the US, they say "oh, New York!" ...Er no... just regular York...

    Everyone thinks Wisconsin is just cows, corn fields, and CHEESE! I think I got asked 15 times on spring break if I like cheese...lol

    I'm blonde and from LA, and I grew up in "the valley" (think Frank Zappa Valley Girl or the Valley Girl Nicholas Cage movie from the eighties) and I do have a tendency to say things like "like, ohmygod, totally, no freakin way."
    However, I'm actually not an idiot and have a Biology degree and work full time as a field consultant and it blows people out of the water. It's the worst when I travel up north or out of state.
    "oh, where's Wes?"
    "He's my manager. I'm the consultant that will be assisting you today."
    "Oh wow, yeah... we were expecting like, a guy in overalls, i mean...you must get that a lot."

    and when I travel people always ask if I know any celebrities, if I've had any work done, and why don't I fake tan.

    #1. I'm from Kansas City, MISSOURI. #2. No, I don't live on a farm, own cattle, or have ever been swooped up by a tornado...

    I get that line too, but because my name is Dorothy =) You've got to love originality.



    I'm from Phoenix, AZ and people usually just want to talk about how hot it is here when they hear that. Which really, most of the year it is pretty hot. =)

    Orange County, CA. Biggest misconception is that the weather here is great. The weather here is the absolute best in the country and it isn't even close. It makes swallowing 10% State Income tax, 9+% Sales Tax much easier.

    I'm from Texas, so automatically I carry a gun ( though I am working on my CHL ), I wear cowboy boots ( ok, I do ), that I own cattle ( I don't ), and that I have an oil rig in my backyard ( I wish! )

    I'm from south-central Pennsylvania. SOME people (I won't mention any names) ask me if I speak Pennsylvania Dutch or drive a horse and buggy. And, for the record, I don't do either.

    I'm from Pittsburgh. When I tell people this they often bring up the Steelers, as well they should. But then sometimes they act like some other football team that they like is better. I feel bad, but they need to be corrected.

    Here in Boston people think we're mean and horrible drivers.

    Truth be told we're nice to people we *actually* like and our driving skills are better than some parts of the US (we also use our middle finger a lot when driving)
