    Howie,

Yes, people are going to call you Howie, get over it.

All those girls that your totally convinced don't like you, sooner or later every single one of them will confess they had a thing for you.

You're not as fat as you think you are by far.

You're going to be way fatter then you think you are if you don't get off that self fulling and destructive path your on and put down the crappy food you butterball.

Do more stupid things in high school, you've already ****ed it up you might as well enjoy it.

You're going to learn a lot of things and have a lot of amazing experiences in the next 10 years, you are going to live on them for at least 20 years after that. Do them, just finish college, that dumb *kitten* radio job you have in a **** market that you quit college over is going to last less time then your first car.

Take care of that first car, you're going to miss it more then you could possibly imagine when its gone.

Stop playing with that thing and listen to me you drooling idiot.

STOP EATING GARBAGE! FINISH COLLEGE!! GO BANG THAT GIRL YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON!!
  • my 16 yo self was only 2 years ago, but I'll do one to cover a bit more time..13ish??

    dear self,
you're not fat and don't you ever think that you are. Kelsey is NOT your friend, don't believe it for a second. Follow your heart and keep doing what you love. Don't give up on it b/c you think it can be replaced, it can't. Stay in touch with kasey and katie, they're your real friends. Don't fear getting older and getting more curves, they're sexy and if you can't realize that, your little diet will turn into a nasty ED. Don't get attached to that boy from camp, you'll never see him again and he's a player and not worth your tears. Don't push away the guys who actually ARE good to you, because you'll regret it, Take every single opportunity you get, it'll take you somewhere great. Don't worry about if you're good enough to be friends with anyone because you are. Don't be so shy all the time b/c it comes across as aloof. Smile more! And don't let that kid in your english class who always stares at you freak you out, he's alright. good friend. and most of all, don't become friends with that girl claire. she's a really depressed, insecure girl who doesn't actually value your "friendship" at all. Overall, choose better friends!!! and when you find them, you'll love 'em

    1. Give your dad more credit, he's actually kind of awesome. Don't blindly follow his many, many suggestions, figure out what YOU want to do. He'll get over it. Might even be proud of you.
    2. Stop trying so hard with people who couldn't give less of a ****. It's not worth it and you'll hate yourself for years because of it.
    3. Get out of the house!
    4. That guy is an idiot, and more than a bit of a creep. Don't waste your time, you end up looking stupid and feeling worse.
    5. Save your money!

    Dear Jessie,

Some bad stuff has happened. Some more will. Someday you will look back and realize how strong you are. You can let it happen or you can learn how to say no. Heck, learn how to scream. Don't let things happen to you. Be smart and think.

When you are 18 your Dad is going to tell you that art is not a worthy career and force you to study something else. You'll hate it. You'll never finish college because of it. Get a job and pay your way through art school. Follow your dream or your heart will ache every single day of your life.

Oh, and Coke and M&M's for lunch every day will come back to haunt you one day. Seriously, eat a turkey sandwich or something.

    Love yourself!

Don't allow obstacles to stop you learning a martial art . Being able to physically defend yourself is important.
Read up on how to recognise destructive sociopathic personality types and trust your gut instincts. A red flag is a red flag is a red flag..thats your cue to run.

You have amazing instincts..how about you start acting on that?

You can be a loving human being still if you stand up for yourself when being bullied.

Being 5 5'' with a 36 24 36 figure does not make you fat, it makes you curvy. Dont let your spiteful "friend" put you down about your looks.

Move out and get your drivers license as early as you can.

You are worthy to be loved so don't settle for less than impecable behaviour from someone you are dating.

Your ethics are one of the sustaining elements in your life..don't damage your integrity by spending time with people who don't see its worth.

The depression you go through at 24 is not because you aren't "spiritual enough" there is a medical reason, go to a specialist.
Stop eating gluten and dairy its making you sick. At 30 your not a hypochondric, you have a tropical mosquito bourne disease.

Get back to living in the same state as your family forget about the good money. Catch up with your twin as often as you can, he doesnt get past 37.

    After a While
    (You Learn)
    © Veronica A. Shoffstall 1971

After a while you learn the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul.

And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning,
and company doesn’t always mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses are not contracts,
    and presents aren’t promises.

And you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead...

With the grace of a woman,
not the grief of a child.

    And you learn
To build all your roads on today,

Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans,
and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while you learn that even sunshine burns
    if you get too much…

So, you plant your own garden,
    and decorate your own soul...
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure…
    you really are strong,
    you really do have worth.

And you learn, and you learn…
    with every goodbye,

    You Learn…

Don't procrastinate about going to University after High School, especially don't take a year off after grade 12 to 'figure out what you wanna do and find yourself'. Just go to University and get a degree, if not before you know it you're involved FT in a job, married, kid(s) and find excuses not to go.

Don't settle for friends that you feel comfortable with. Go out and meet new peope, embarass yourself in front of strangers, get out of your comfort zone and try new things, don't be shy and avoid talking to the pretty girls. These things will improve your confidence later on in life.

Your parents really do have your best interestes at heart, it won't be until your late 20's when what they said makes sense.

Learn to save some money at an early stage so that you you're not in debt to your eyeballs at 25.

Take care of your body, it's the only one you got to live your life in. Enjoy it.

Change girls to guys, and take out the marriage and kids things and that's exactly what I'd say to 16 year old me!

Also P.S... don't love the boybands so much, it really isn't that cool - you'll still be going to their concerts when you're 30.

Go visit your grandpa in the hospital while he is healing from his surgery, he is going to die the next day.:brokenheart:

Remember that cute senior guy you had a crush on in Freshmen bio? You might as well call him up and start dating him now because you guys WILL start dating in two years when you are a senior and you guys will get married in 2011. This will save you all the heartbreaks from the other idiots.:heart:

Lose all your friends, they are all fake *****es.

Keep working out, you will start gaining weight from the stress at home.

    Dear 16 year old self.

Address your social issues now, your new classmates are actually nice and not like the bullies in middle school. Maybe that wont make you eat so much because I know you are skinny now but you will get fat, soon. Dump "D" he does not make you happy and you know you don't really like him. Your cute guitar teacher is actually the love of your life and you are going to have a wonderful future with him.

Here's 3 lists... One of people you need to get rid of, one of people you need to keep close, and one of parties you don't need to go to.

Stay with Jen, she's awesome. If you don't you'll still do a decent enough job, and in ten years time you'll still have one of the worlds best friends, but you'll be kicking yourself and wondering "what if?".

The same goes for SJ... but you can't do both.

If you do, you wont get away with it!

Take better care of your camera on your 18th birthday... you'll really miss those photos.

Stick to rugby! If you play football you'll screw up your knee, and then be blaming it for everything crappy that happens for a decade!

When you get the opportunity to switch universities, do it... The conservatoire will eventually ruin your love for music.

    Dear 16 year old me.

On 5th Nov at lunch, stop Michaela eating that shortbread. She dies 3 hours later from anaphylactic shock. You were sitting next to her. You could stop it.
BTW, you aren't fat or ugly, and you don't need to starve yourself to become popular.
Think before you act. Your hormones are al over the place and you will save yourself a LOT of future stress, more the you can imagine right now, if you stop acting like a jealous twit.

    Love,

    34 year old me

Dear 16 year old me - DO NOT GO ON A SILLY CRASH DIET, you will spend the rest of your life trying to repair the damage and trying to get back to the EXACT SAME WEIGHT AND SIZE you are now!!! You are not fat!!!!

    Love, me x
  • Well, crap.

    1) You're really shy and you're lonely, but that's okay. You don't need to get drunk at parties.
    2) I know how you are, you got drunk at that party and that's okay. Just know that she grows up okay with that family you chose and she's a pretty cool kid. Even if she likes Justin Bieber.
    3) Just be who you are.

Eat more food & exercise more.

Try and find something you enjoy doing and get your A-Levels, go to University. Even if you aren't 100% sure there is no point waiting around until you know what you want to do as at 30 you still won't have a clue. Do Fashion, photography or psychology.

    Learn to drive.

Save your money, things will be expensive and you will have to move in with your parents if you don't get on the property ladder earlier on.

Move out of your home town, it gets worse and not better.

Be more confident, you only have one life so who cares!

    Dear 16 year old me,

Stop fighting your mum over everything, get to know her because she won't be around much longer. Go to university no matter what it costs you personally, it will be sooooo worth it, and he isn't 'the one' anyway! You're brother will always be an idiot. Your dad will be there for you when it all goes horribly wrong.

Enjoy your life and when you turn 40 don't be afraid!

    Nikki aged 41

  • Dear 16 y/o me,

Start actually studying and doing your homework when you get home, because you will need those skills for college.
Make sure you have two back-up plans being prepared for if you don't get into vet school.
Have as much fun as possible and enjoy your time. High school may be boring and pointless, but you will miss your friends when you move halfway across the country, and they can help you improve your social skills :)

    Love,
    Future you

Stay away from Emily, she will waste 4 years of your life, money and effort, you'll miss out on your teen years big time!

But you'll be much happier at 22, single and doing your own thing :) P.s, don't give mum such a hard time, she will need you!

    Dear 16 yr old self.

Don't start working at that place, find another job - or ask to restart your school year or resit your GCSE'S
Don't even let them nasty thoughts in you, they'll take over your entire life. just please don't go down that road.
Don't get sucked into losing your vaginity before your 18 ect...you'll regret it, wait until you find that one speacial person....plus it will ruien your relationship with your mum..that you have.
