I used skim milk instead of the almond milk, a 1/2 tsp of real maple syrup and a dash of cinnamon. 148 calories and was delicious!
Will be putting this in the breakfast rotation.0 -
bump so i can try this later.0

yep, answered before - no - not hot. This is a cold only recipe.0 -
ew. please don't heat them...
This method of preparation reminds me of the instructions for muelsi, which is similar to oatmeal.0 -

I like this recipie too.........i however have not convinced the men in my house that its good! I wish it kept longer.......ended up using flax seeds instead of chia, and this morning i mixed 1/2 jar it with my visalus shake and milk for a super creamy yummy filling meal!!0

cook it with extra water, it will expand over night in the refrigerator and absorb all the water.0

Ive tried this new thing with oatmeal and now a few friends of mine do it too
A serving of plain oatmeal
a table spoon of honey
a table spoon of slivered almonds
a table spoon of shreded coconut
Its so delicious its a great way to start my day and also the almonds give it enough crunch!0 -
Its also yummy with some powdered peanut butter, cocoa powder and half a banana!
This is how I eat it...every single morning...without the peanut butter.
I use half a banana cocoa powder and chocolate soy milk. It actually ends up being like 250 cals sometimes more but it is so good and filling.
I've also been putting a little splash (a very very tiny drizzle) of sugar free chocolate syrup on top. YUMMMMMMMMMMMM!
I've never had Chia seeds either so I throw in ground flax seed.0 -
I tried this last night.
Before I stuck it in the fridge:
After, at work, I emptied it in a bowl and added some granola on top!
It was so delicious! I highly recommend. :bigsmile:0 -

This is inspired me to try it with my quick oats so I just put this all in a jar:
1/2 cup quick oats
8 oz unsweetened almond milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 T unsweetened cocoa powder
2 T PB2
I really hope it turns out well with the quick oats and I also hope it tastes like the no-bake cookies I used to make as a kid! lol
Just want to let everyone know while the flavor if my experiment was very yummy, it turned into oatmeal soup lol.... Probably too much liquid. But I still ate it. I added an oz of slivered almonds for crunch. You ready for the stats on this breakfast?
550 cals, 46 grams protein, 24 grams of MONOunsaturated fat, 43 g carbs, 13 grams of fiber and only 300 mg of sodium.
I imagine I will not be hungry again for a few hours lol0 -

Such a great breakfast!!
I eat this stuff every morning, and have come up with some wonderful additions.....
I always start with...
1/3c oats of your choice (Im really liking the steel cut oats lately)
1Tbsp ground flax seed,
1/2 Tbsp chia seeds
1/3c plain greek yogurt,
1/3c almond milk
1tsp brown sugar blend splenda (or honey sometimes)
From there, I add whatever I am in the mood for, (or whatever I happen to have lying around at the time).
If i want an extra boost of protein, I will add a scoop of protein powder.
Some of my favourites additions are....
-blueberry vanilla (1/4c blueberries and 1 tsp vanilla),
-Choco banana (1/2 mashed banana and 1tsp cocoa powder)
-Berry blend (1/2 c raspberries, sliced strawberries, and raspberries)
-Apple cinnamon (1/2 an apple diced, and cooked in microwave for 1 minute, 1/2 tsp cinnamon)0 -
I just did that this morning too! Also with chia seeds I added blueberries and a tablespoon of low cal/no added sugar maple syrup to sweeten. (I'm Canadian, hellooo) :P0
