I hope some of the men here won't mind my saying that they look absolutely bangin' in their profile pics...arms and chests and backs, oh my!

I was just going to say that about Mr. Shock_Wave. Holy balls.

    Definitely!

LOL!! My husband does the grocery shopping because I HATE that particular chore, so I have no idea how much we're spending. But I guess I'll find out when I move out in a few weeks. <scared> LOL

This is a flat out lie. Lots of men are attracted to different shapes, just because you have your preference doesn't mean it's the end all be all answer.

Annnd here it comes. People taking offense where none was intended and totally derailing the rather rare for MFP quality of the thread. I know you weren't the first, but you're certainly the most aggressive. I think that most of the rest of us 'adults' in this thread, including the OP...know full well that men all have different tastes.

    /sigh

I find it slightly humorous that you claim no offence was intended yet it's kind of an insult to anyone who is skinny, but whatever. I'm clearly not "adult" enough to understand that.

Perceived insults...aren't necessarily insults. Nor are unintended insults, backhanded insults, or any other form of insult other than a direct 'you look like crap' type of insult. It would be like you saying 'women don't like built men' (which from the polls around MFP, is surpringly truthful lol). I'm assuming I somewhat fall under that category, but there's no possible way I'd be offended by it. I would understand that you're just generalizing your own opinion...that's all.

Anyway, for myself, I normally prefer slim, brunette women with long hair, and a bit of attitude.

    Go figure.

Anyhow though...to anyone who may have been complimenting me...thank you, seriously. I mean, I work hard on my body for myself, my strength and health...but it's an incredible feeling to know that others appreciate it.

okay, guys - it's fine to say that YOU are not attracted to "super skinny girls", but you really shouldn't generalize and assume that no guy is attracted to someone who is built thin. some girls are naturally small, or "super skinny", and disparaging them is as bad as saying similar things about heavier girls.

i realize this site is predominantly used for weight loss, but keep in mind that some people may be using it to keep healthy without the intention of actually losing weight. and keep in mind that some of these people might be "super skinny".

ps. i'm not one of those people, before you assume so. but they're around, so be respectful.

THIS! I'm sick of seeing remarks like 'Ugh, skinny girls are disgusting' plastered around the forums. It's pretty offensive to girls that are naturally very thin and don't have much in the way of curves. I do consider myself to have boobs and hips, by the way, so this isn't even the rant of an embittered thin woman. It would be like the women on here saying 'Oh guys, just be aware that women only like huge muscles'. It's a sweeping generalisation of what people are attracted to and it's not true to everyone.

Plus, it suggests women are losing weight or working on their bodies just to get a man. Simply not true. Some women aren't even attracted to men for one. Most of us are here for health and fitness reasons. It really pisses me off when I see things like 'Don't get too thin or the boys won't like you!' posted on here.

I don't know why that guy would say that but what I do know is that when I read this and looked over at your profile picture I imagine you are really sexy when you get mad/rant! lol

Edit: uhh just tryed to lighten things up around here is all. :p

My boyfriend says I do this frowny pout thing when I'm mad, so you may be right. Then again, my voice can also get quite shrill when I'm angry, so you may be wrong.

I don't know...I think you're stunning lol, and frowny pouting sounds pretty cute. As for the voice thing...as long as you didn't mind me putting my fingers in my ears while you were ranting...we'd be fine!

In regards to trainers, there are other options besides your regular gym PT. You could try a strength coach at a specialised facility. I go to a powerlifting/strongman gym 3 times a week and train in a small group with a Strength & Conditioning coach. It is awesome. There are no issues about what I want to do, what he wants me to do etc. Everyone is lifting...

With regards to what some people have mentioned, I do eat a lot of protein and I recently upped my calories to match what MFP says I should be eating to lose 2 lbs a week (I was eating less than 1200 before). So I'll be curious to see where that, with the bodyweight exercises and such gets me :) Thanks again to everyone who's replied and been so very nice!!

And thank you for the compliment! It's really appreciated. I think you'd be surprised though by how little hard work is involved lol. 1hr a day, 3 days a week (yes...rest is what burns fat...and 4 days of it, with how hard you push on lifting days...gives plenty of time to burn fat lol), over 3 months...of heavy strength training (and I did it via bodyweight too...40lbs of fat, gone). The results would have come even more easily had I used a gym.

    That's it.

And that's what I love so much about lifting. I'm not a "go heavy or go home" kind of person... I'm more "go heavy AND go home." It takes a lot less time to do heavy weights for less reps than endless reps with light weights.

I typically exercise less than 5 hours a week, at most, 3 hours of cardio (I run, and also some walking/hiking) and two hours of lifting.

To contrast, I spend 5 hours a week watching reruns of the Big Bang Theory, or more embarrassingly, three hours a week watching Dancing with the Stars. :blushing:

just a note: guys dont like super skinny girls dont aim for that

This is a flat out lie. Lots of men are attracted to different shapes, just because you have your preference doesn't mean it's the end all be all answer.

That's so true but I don't think anyone would be attracted to women who look like this:

By the way that is my definition of skinny.

I'm caught between beyonce and twiggy. Either perfect curves or bones..I hate the athletic, muscular look.
