What is the craziest thing you believed to be true as a kid?

I thought I could hold myself up in mid air if I rested my knees on a baton!

Duh!

I thought that the tooth fairy had a weird penchant for wanting to give money for a tooth. It just didn't make sense! Duh!

this is kinda gross, but when my sister and i were toddlers, she used to pick her nose and my mom would always tell her there was a snail that lived in everyones nostrils, and it liked to bite any "searching fingers".......we were a messed up family.

That every girl was born with a baby inside her belly and as she got bigger the baby got bigger and eventually came out. I don't know how I reconciled that idea with the fact that some people have more than one kid and that some had no kids at all.

I thought everyone lived until they were 100 years old and died face-down while blowing out their birthday candles. No joke.

    3. cats were females, dogs were male
    4. women were nurses , doctors were male
    5. i also believed in the swamp monster and after seeing 1 in the zoo ( a statue) i was convinced it was outside my window 1 night and my mom called the cops thinking i saw a man ( it was a shadow from a giant stuffed turtle on my bed and tree branches)

    1. I thought when my mom took here glasses off to clean them she was instantly blind and couldn't see a thing. Freaked the heck out of me when she'd change into her sunglasses while driving!

    2. For awhile I thought my mom was a vampire.

    3. Thought there was a globe around the earth that kept the blue and all the air in and that when a rocket went into outer space they had a specific hole they had to shoot for.

My older cousin convinced me when I was little that they incinerated mice and used the ashes to flavor Coca-cola. I don't think I drank Coke till my late teens after that.

Oh yeah and subliminal Satanic messages in heavy metal music vids.

    I was pretty stupid.

I believed that if you pressed the # and * on a telephone at the same time, your house would blow up. Why did I believe that? Because my brother told me.

Oh, I also believe that a woman became pregnant when a man touched their knee. Yes, it was my brother that told me this lie too. I didn't let any boys touch my knees EVER!

I am SO guilty of trying this too!!

I used to think that thunder was the sound of dinosaurs stomping down the street. And that the yolk of an egg was the chicken that didn't hatch. I wouldn't eat eggs for the longest time...

I thought if I stared into the sun long enough I would have Cyclops' power (from the X-Men). My parents tried to stop me a lot...surprising that I didn't need glasses until I was 19. Haha.

I believed I could actually fly and also that chocolate milk came from brown cows...

ETA: Most importantly, I believed there was a portal in my closet that lead to Halloween Town and that I was a witch and warlocks were after me and thats why I had to live away from Halloween Town lol

Oh, my brother and I set a rabbit trap in our back yard when I was about 5 and he was 7. We were sooo excited when we "caught" this pretty black bunny. He was our pet for years! My brother was relating the story to somebody when he was 20 and I was 18 and my parents finally told us that they had bought the rabbit and put him in our trap to make us think we caught him. We were both crushed XDD

When I was really little, my mom convincend me that I had the power to turn red stoplights to green. She would wait until they were about to change and then tell me to wave my hands and say some magic words. I believed it for years.

My Mom told me I could lay eggs. I would sit on the floor cross-legged, and flap my wings "bawk, bawk" and when I would get up, there would be an egg behind me! I always wondered why the eggs I lay were brown when we visited by Grandma's farm :blushing:

My cousin and his friend used to babysit me when I was little. They were both 8 years older than me, so I was probably 6 or so and they would always tell me that I was "A Jive Turkey" and that they were calling the "High Jive Hotline" and reporting me and that someone was coming to take me away for talking while they were playing Atari.

When I was a kid, the movie IT scared me so much, I hovered over the toilet for almost 4 years between 8 and 12 because I was scared the clown was going to come out of the drain.

    Believed:
If I swallowed bubble gum, I would fart bubbles.
The Gum Trees in my cousin's front yard grew juicy fruit and bubbly yum.
That my Dad had a metal plate in his head.

I was a really gullible child...

I thought that when my mom said spring (or whatever season) was just around the corner, I could walk to the end of the block and look around the curve of the street and see spring. I wasn't the brightest kid in town.

When I was a toddler, I thought when I laid down in my bed at night and heard my heartbeat, it was actually a giant running down the hill behind my house to get me...which in turned, scared me, causing my heartbeat to get louder and increase...so I thought he was getting closer, and closer, and running faster and faster.

I also thought the moon followed me around...you know, because I was more special than everyone else. HAH.
