Hey y'all -- this is my first day on Fitness Pal, and I'm actually joining to help me stay motivated. I'm on day 6 of the Shred, and unfortunately I have GAINED three pounds.
I know it's probably just water weight, but has anyone else had a similar experience?
I can feel myself getting more stamina, and I know that as bad as this is kicking my butt it has to be doing some good. It's just a bummer that the pants I've just started to fit back into are back in the drawer.
Heya lady. I'm in the same boat as you. Today is just day three and I'm up a pound and some inches... I think it might be best to not measure at all the rest of the first ten days, maybe measure at the end of each level, but I can't help it, I love having numbers to look at and see my progress.0 -

My Mom (who keeps me accountable on this) keeps telling me to stop weighing, but I can't help it either! Yesterday I was 3 pounds up and .5 inches bigger all over. The good news it that I apparently dropped 2.3 pounds overnight, so I'm *almost* back to where I was when I started the Shred.
I was hopeful when I started that I might get under 200 by the end of the Shred, but at this point I'll be happy if I get under 210!
I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue though!0 -
Day 4 Level 1 completed! My legs were not as painful today, could finally walk up and down stairs!
Forgot to take measurements at the beginning so doing that tonight. Haven't weighed in since I started as was afraid I would see a gain so will weigh in and measure again on day 15 to hopefully see some good results!0 -
I love the 30 day Shred. I am addicted to Jillian Michaels DVDs. We have a love/hate relationship! LOL! She and Bob Harper kick my butt a lot.
Three years ago after I had my daughter I bought this DVD. I did it everyday. Changed levels after ten days. The first 3 days were PURE HELL I could barely walk on day 3. However, after 30 days I had lost 12 pounds and was in my size 8 jeans (down from a 12). I continued for another month working in two of her other DVDs and then progressed to doing two levels on the days I did the shred. I ended up losing over 20 pounds in a matter of about 45-60 days. I LOVED IT! My problem was we bought a house and I got unmotivated and gained it all back. Over the years I know how quite the collection of DVDs by Jillian, Bob, and the Biggest Loser. The Jillian Michaels DVDs and Bob Harper's Inside Out Method DVDs are the best. The Biggest Loser DVDs are good but do not give you the results as fast. I am now motivated and back at it. Started this week and am so sore, but I know from experience it will work and the payoff is amazing!
Also, I always started with 2 pound weights until I got stronger. Once I got stronger I had a variety that I used depending on the exercise ranging from 2 pounds to 8 pounds.
Keep with it!! She is brutual but she knows what she is doing.0 -
Well I discovered something quite awesome on day three. Today's the first day I wore my heartrate monitor and in the thirty minutes of shredding and stretching, id burned 318 calories. That's more than elliptical or running these days so I was super chuffed with those numbers, but the best part was my forgetting to turn off my monitor. An hour and a half of chitchatting with my mom later and id burned 794 calories in 2h13min! That's one HELL of an afterburn!!!0

Hi everyone.... I just started the 30 Day Shred today using 1kg weights (hope to up them in time), WOW is all I can say, I really thought I was reasonably fit but no no no. Shocked me totally.
But bring on tomorrow!!!!0 -
I just finished day 3 of level one day and I am loving this work out! The first day I had to stop constantly to catch my breath and chug some water. Now, I can already feel by body having stronger stamina. I'm not stopping nearly as much and able to complete full circuits.
I'm starting with 5lbs weights, which get killer with some moves, but my arms are loving the burn.
Anyone else find relief with the ab work?? I'm always thankful to lay down and rest my thighs... at least until my abs start screaming at me! lol0 -
Just reading some of these comments and they are really encouraging. I have done level 1 sunday, monday and wednesday (had a rest tuesday). My legs are feeling really good, and i can feel the workout in my shoulders, which has really help with a shoulder problem i get from sitting at a desk all day. I really am looking forward to seeing/feeling the results after the 30ds.

I'm on day 6 level 2 and feel like the Dvd is quite good. I am losing pounds and inches. Also doing another bit of cardio in the evenings.0

when doin the 30day shred, what do you putm on your exercise tracker? how would i go about recording it
thanks x0 -
Just finished day 3 level 1. I woke up without feeling sore which was a good start and managed the exercises much easier - I even managed all bar 2 of the side lunge/arm raises! Where I'm really struggling is the push ups as my wrist is very weak due to an injury so supporting my body weight is very hard even with the Anita ones. Not sure if/how I'll manage level 2.
Weighed myself out of interest this morning so if I'd put weight on and I haven't budged at all.
Natzkj - I used a HRM and created an exercise but I think people are saying to use circuit training if you don't have a HRM.0 -
Today is Day 10 of Level 2 - I'm so looking forward to moving to Level 3 tomorrow! I've had enough of Level 2, it really kicked my bum (or rather - my arms) and I was struggling to keep motivated.
Sadly, I haven't lost a single pound or an inch, which is quite disappointing. I must admit, I haven't been great with my diet, but definitely not going over 2000kcal (my daily goal is 1500kcal). I can feel my abs getting toned, but there is still a layer of fat on top, so unfortunately the trousers still feel too tight
Anyone else had/having the same experience (aka not losing anything)?0 -
I started 30DS last night. This is my second time trying. The first time I never made it past Level 1 and I remember being so sore I could barely squat enough to sit on the toilet! I'm in better shape this time so I'm planning on finishing it. My plan is to do it in the morning and do my regular running or elliptical cardio routine in the evening. I have a 5K in 2 weeks so I need to continue running. Good luck everyone!0

Started today and am looking forward to tomorrow already... Painful legs but here's hoping it's all worth it!0

Day eight of level one here. it's still just the second run of cardio that kicks my butt!!0
-
I'm on day three of level one! I'm incredibly sore today (EVERYWHERE), and almost considering taking the day off to recover, but I know I shouldn't! I'll probably get the workout in this evening. This is my first Jillian (I almost spelled Killian, LOL) Michaels dvd and thus far, I am loving it. She moves at the perfect pace for me.0

So after starting the 30 Day Shred at the beginning of the month and then only getting through about 5 days during those 2 weeks, I re-started this past Monday after a couple of my friends committed to do it with me! I have found that it does get easier as we go. Luckily, I haven't been terribly sore this go around! Good luck Everyone!!
We GOT This!!0 -
Today was Day 4 and I'm being honest, I finally hurt everywhere. My calves are no longer existent, I literally only stand by the sheer will of my mind, but now my butt, lats, abs and thighs hurt. Might be due to the personal training session I ALSO had today, but I don't know and I don't care! Something hurts, it means I used it... into submission...0

Does anyone know where I can find Level 2 online? x0
-
Just started today! Excited but kinda scared. The pain should be worth it in the end?0

WooHoo day 2 level 1 completed.... my butt hurts like hell but that tells me I haven't used it properly in a long time. LOL
Looking forward to seeing changes in my measurements and scales.0 -
Today is day 6, level 2 for me & once again I found it the easiest out of the 6 days. That's not to say it doesn't hurt & push me to my limits, it's just easier to push through & do each section varying between easy/hard moves. I have found a pattern forming that by day 6 on each level I start to find it easier to push myself & not hurt as much.
I did a half way measure last night & have lost inches which has given me the motivation to continue for the next 14 days. Im excited to see the final results0 -

Level 2 day 2 and it is safe to say that altho I found it marginally easier today simply because I knew what was coming and even though I can now beast level 1 completely, level 2 officially owns my *kitten*!!! Just keep reminding myself how much easier level 1 is now compared with the first time I did it and can't wait til I'm further into level 2 so I can proudly say I owned it!!0

I normally would just track the 318, but having done a test run of my HRM to see what my natural "going about my day" burn rate was, I minused the 100 calories I naturally burn an hour from the total, so just under 600.0 -
I completed day one level one. It wasn't tooo bad, I only had to catch my breath once, lol. I'm measuring tonight (can't find my tape measure, gonna buy a new one) I don't know about taking pictures, not that comfortable showing my body...we'll see.
Good luck everyone!!!!!0 -
