I'm a big fan of proatmeal. Regular oatmeal with a scoop of your favorite protein powder flavor.
I Love my steel cut oats with Whey Protein isolate and a tablespoon of natural almond butter and just a tiny splash of unsweetened almond milk :)))))))))))))

oatmeal = awesomeness!! I eat a lot of it. Filling and I think my ticker speaks for itself as far as whether eating it a lot causes weight gain...

I love mine with just a smidge of brown sugar (splenda) or fruit...

I love it too! I put in a few slivered almonds and a small drizzle of honey. Delicious! Oh, and chia seeds if I remember.

Oh man, if you're going to put yogurt in it, add fruit or honey.

I eat oatmeal almost every morning and love it. This recipe is really good for you, balances the carbs and protein and is quick to make. The blueberries make it sweet so you won't need added sugar.

1/2 cup organic quick cooking oatmeal
    1 cup water
Cinnamon to taste (I like lots)
    Microwave 1 minute
    Add 2 egg whites
    Microwave 1 minute
Stir and microwave 1 more minute
Stir in 1/2 cup frozen blueberries.

    Enjoy!!

I eat oatmeal with cinnamon, brown sugar and peanut butter almost every day. It has not slowed down my weight loss at all!

I wish I could eat oatmeal everyday. I can eat it and I will be starving an hour later.

Now I just have baked oatmeal on the weekends and I put protein powder in it. Still doesn't keep me full long but since I sleep in I have less time between breakfast and lunch so I'm not dying by the time its lunch.

Agree with this - instant is packed with sugar so better go with the real stuff though I'll admit I'll have instant occasionally for convenience, especially when early-morning wake-up is called for

I forgot to specify that I like the Raw Pure & Simple line of Better Oats.

Homemade oatmeal for me usually involves plumped raisins or cherries, a dash of almond extract, a sprinkle of brown sugar, and made with vanilla soy milk.

I eat a half a cup of old fashioned oats every morning along side half a grape fruit. Real oatmeal is fantastic for you.

Good oatmeal is great for you, low glycemic, large flake or rolled oats, but not the instant packaged stuff with or without sugar. The 'instant' aspect breaks the grain down so far to make it quick to cook, but that makes it high glycemic and no better than eating fluffy white bread with no fibre content.

Just cook the real stuff - it only takes minutes longer and you can control your flavours and additions easily.

Some people are anti grains of any kind as well as anti carbs. Personally, I think it's silly but they believe what they want to believe. I eat oatmeal several times a week and am losing weight. Be your own judge of what works.

    I LOVE LOVE LOVE Oatmeal.

I do 60 grams of oats, the old fashioned kind (1 1/2 servings) with some water. Microwave for about 45 seconds. Then mix in 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder, PB2, and flax seed. Super yummy and filling!

Or for a sweet treat, do the oats with unsweetened cocoa powder, chocolate PB2 and flax seed. Delicious!

I've also made it with canned pumpkin and ground cinnamon, or coconut oil and cinnamon and flax seed....really, the possibilities are endless. :)

No single food item is responsible for weight gain.
    This!

I don't believe in labeling foods 'good or bad'. But you can make your calories count, though! I like eating foods that keep me satiated. I find that processed oatmeal (instant or quick oats) doesn't fill me up for very long and as a result, I'm hungry waaaay before lunchtime. I wouldn't bother with the prepackaged stuff with added sugar/fruit; it's easy enough to add your own fresh fruit and stevia (better for you!). Steel cut and old-fashioned oats keep me satiated longer - they're less processed and higher in fiber.

However, even then I find I still need to include a protein if I eat oatmeal for breakfast, to keep me satiated until lunchtime. So in addition to the oatmeal, I'll usually eat a boiled egg, or a protein shake, or at the very least add some almond milk to my oats.

(Although lately I've been enjoying quinoa heated with almond milk, cinnamon, walnuts and banana instead. Much more filling - and lots of protein!)

I love oatmeal, I find it so filling. I do use the packages from time to time, but when I do, I always add about 1/3 of a cup of whole oats or steel cut oats, along with some water, skim milk, berries or a cut up banana, and sometimes cinnamon for extra flavor. For about 300 calories, I am full for awhile.

I eat steel cut oatmeal when I can, and flavor it myself with bananas, cinnamon, etc.
If I'm in too much of a rush, I get old fashioned rolled oats from Three Sisters, a whole foods brand. Or Oats Revolution is pretty similar; they have some flavored stuff too.
I try to stay away from brands like Quaker and sugar free stuff, but that's just me. Too many ingredients I can't pronounce xD And I feel like it's so processed that the cons of eating it outweigh the pros.
I find that the more "natural" oatmeals are more filling anyway.
So long story short, oatmeal in its natural form (or close to it) is good. The generic commercially packaged instant ones, not so much.

    i eat oatmeal every day.

Me too. In fact it's a go-to for me as a great snack. Stick to whole oats tho. the instant stuff is super processed and a lot sugar.

Real oatmeal (or porridge as its known in the UK) is fantastic. Avoid the packaged flavoured instant stuff, and go straight to real oats.

I agree. Lots of expensive rip-off versions. The cheapest is just as good and sometimes better.
  • Oatmeal is good for weight loss. It's high in fiber and takes longer to digest and makes you feel more full longer. The key to weight loss is to take in less carloies than you burn off, right? Well half the battle is satisfying your cravings so you don't over eat. If you eat food like Oatmeal you will feel full and not have to eat for a long time. On an average day at work, I eat a bowl of Oatmeal at 8am. Ussualy it satifies me enough where I don't need to eat until at least 1am. That's half day the day satisfied off one meal! That way I save more colories for when I get home later and tempations tend to strike more. Oatimeal is good! I'm down 30 pounds.

    Mix in Vitamix blender:

    1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/2 scoop Trutein CinnaBun protein powder (or any Cinnamon flavored protein powder)
    3/4 cup steel cut oats
    1/2 cup coconut milk
    splash of maple extract
    1/4 tspn saigon cinnamon

Its my favorite protein shake to make.

I've never heard of oatmeal being bad for you. Actually, I've heard it's very good for you and a much better alternative to things like pre-packaged cereals. I eat it every morning. I at pre-packaged stuff at the moment, but once that's gone, I'll try my hand at making it myself from just oats.
  • I eat oatmeal oatmeal everyday. It's not bad for you if you make it yourself. No packaged crap and it takes like 10mins. :) I have 1/3 of a cup of oatmeal in 3/4 of water cook till it looks right and then add a tsp of brown sugar and some 1% milk. Mmmm so good!!!

I eat old fashion oatmeal everyday with a tablespoon of peanut butter. I've been maintaining my 50lb weight-loss for 3 years now.
