    I wouldn't necessarily say peanut butter has "healthy" fats - even for the "reduced fat" version, the omega-6 to omega-3 fat ratio is 175:1. (reference: http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/legumes-and-legume-products/7407/2) (the regular version was 180:1.)

    Sure, you could take omega-3 supplements to offset the peanut butter's omega-6 fat, but that's a LOT of fishy breath.
    Ok. Wanna talk real numbers instead of ratios? Both are very low sources of n-6 and n-3 fatty acids, and peanut butter actually contains higher amounts of monounsaturated fats, including oleic acid. In fact, peanut butter has a higher percentage of monounsaturated fat than saturated and polyunsaturated combined. To be fair, when you break down equal calorie amounts of both products, it's basically a wash, each has it's advantages, each has it's disadvantages. I eat both daily, personally.

    I'm just curious as to why the OP refers to 'PBJ' - which I'm assuming is peanut better & jelly - as opposed to just PB... As an Australian, I've never understood the peanut butter & jelly (we call it jam) concept but I find it even more odd that some ppl can't seem to dis-associate the two! Lol... Just an observation :smile:

    And as for my preference... Either! I'm a big fan of both Peanut Butter and Bacon! Preferrably not together though... :tongue:

    Jelly and Jam are two different things, or at least I was raised that way here in the states to understand that.
    They are two different things, jellies are made from fruit juice, while jams are made from fruit purees.

    I love Bacon but peanut butter is easier to cook :)

    Bacon has a lot of salt and PB has a lot of sugar (yes I know you can get kinds without too much but most pb does). So, it just depends on the day!

    Bacon = satured fat, peanut butter = unsatured fat (which is better), but I love them both (just not together)

    Why have I never heard of this bacon and peanut butter together until now? Sounds kinda weird to me, but I've never tried it.

    I like 'em both. But I eat peanut butter more often, because it is way easier for me to spread a Tbsp on a piece of whole wheat toast before work than it is to stand at the stove frying bacon.

    I haven't read other people's reply to this post, but I actually eat peanut butter for the fat content (and it's delicious). It's more good fat than bad afterall and it's certainly not going to cause you to get fat either, unless you're eating a whole tub.

    Also, as a vegetarian the point about bacon being better protein wise is a moot point.

    Not that simple. Bacon has roughly the same percentage of saturated fat as peanut butter. Peanut butter actually has more total fat than bacon, ounce for ounce, and the saturated fat in bacon is mostly lauric and stearic acid, both heart healthy, good fats (lauric acid is the fat that makes coconut oil healthy, it's the main saturated fat in bacon as well.)

    True, Peanut Butter has more fat but mainly unsatured fats, which are suppose to be healthy. I can digest unsatured fats a lot better. I love bacon, but my belly doesn't :tongue:

    I'm so sick of hearing Peanutbutter is good for you! Well it's really not,

    Good source of healthy fats.

    Bacon is a better fat and not inflammatory as long as it is nitrate free.

    I know right? If bacon and maple syrup work, or bacon rubbed in brown sugar then fried...one would think peanut butter might be a reasonable match.

    I think I may try it anyhow lol.

    A Grilled peanutbutter and bacon sandwhich...on lowfat bread of course, must just be perfect for you then!!!!! I always enjoyed them!

    PB - no nitrates, lower in saturated fats, no cholesterol, and comes in smooth or crunchy. No cooking required.

    I like both bacon and peanut butter. PB is a great vegetarian protein. It's also got a lot of nutrients in it that things like bacon don't. I'll take the fat in peanut butter over the fat in bacon any day.

    that pretty much sums it up :-) ... on a side note.. I always go for an all natural peanut butter :-) I love Adams peanut butter.... eat it everyday!

    I haven't tried it, but I suspect they are delicious together! I love both, eat both in moderation. Bacon, bacon, bacon!!!

    I love peanut butter. I eat it every day and I've lost a pound per week for 20 weeks. Why do you care what ppl eat??? You sound snobby.

    Peanut butter with jam on my Magic Pop in the morning & bacon pieces on my salad in the afternoon.

    Delish!! but eat it immediately or the magic pop Disappears .LOL
