Oh, and totally agree with OP, though the term "cool kids" makes me feel like the fat kid in dodgeball.
And remember, if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.0 -
....Am I the only one who has no idea who the cool kids are? None.0

I am grateful to the so-called cool kids. They keep me motivated, inspired, and laughing (sometimes at myself). Even when I'm late to the party.
It's the other kids I'm worried about. All the other kids with the pumped up kicks.
Those Reeboks are way out of style, man.0 -

Who do I have to know to become a cool kid?
Apparently the girl above with the arms?0 -
Who do I have to know to become a cool kid?
I am pretty sure you are one of them!0 -
Every thread I make is somehow "mean". I am blunt and honest, and point out sensitive things I guess....how people read it is not my error. LOL.0

Nope you are not the only one.0 -
If that's your idea of "Cool Kids", I'll keep to my circle of friends and support. Sure everyone needs a kick in the *kitten* once in awhile, but snarky, assish, and in some cases childish poking at people is stupid and doesn't help. I started at 450lbs and it sure as hell wasn't someone making condescending comments that helped me lose 200lbs, and it won't help me get back down where I was.
I'm all for constructive information and criticism, but there's no reason for anyone to be mean or go after anyone, it defeats the purpose of the site. Good luck to those of you who feed on getting put down though.0 -

Can we please get a list of the cool kids? Is there a special page dedicated to them in the yearbook? I must know who they are!0

.... Really? I know forums tend to get this absurd hierarchy because that's the nature of people everywhere, even on the internet, but this all just sounds so silly. I come on here to give encouragement to people that seem to need it, to show off my results, and to ask the odd question here and there. Whoever these "cool kids" are, I hope they don't actually wear that title as some kind of badge of honor. It's an internet food diary, for God's sake.
Just marking the place where the fun thread gets serious and falls apart.0 -
I get the "cool kids" idea. They're the ones that have been here long enough to get results and get really frustrated when the same exact questions are asked over and over and over and over and over and over....
and so they still feel compelled to answer because they want to be helpful and so their answers get shorter and more succinct, knowing, deep down inside, that the person that asked the question is still going to argue with them and tell them it won't work for them because they are "special". Such brave souls! Kudos to you , cool kids!0 -
Okay..here's a shot at posting a pic. I suck at anything computer related
Me now..actually starting to see some ab-ish-ness

Well, it will be hard, but I think I can survive knowing that. I may look back on this day with regrets, but I will survive.0 -
the 'cool kids' are too busy being mean and snarky to spend time working out and eating right.
I'm not sure where you get this. I'm thinking about the people I think are the cool kids here, and they are beasts that go after it. They have their down days and their struggles like the rest of us, but they get results. I'd name names, but then it would start to approach if not completely violate forum rules because people will feel left out that they weren't named as one of the cool kids. But suffice it to say, the people who get tired of explaining the same thing over and over again, of answering a question and then getting blasted that the answer wasn't the one that the OP had been looking for, that can get kind of snarky and that sometimes have some random inside jokes, those folks get it done. Just sayin.0 -
I don't post here often...okay really, I think I have posted 4 times. I do, however, read EVERYTHING. I have never had to lose weight so I don't have any words of wisdom to offer on those topics and though I try to eat healthy, just a short while ago I was the skinny chick who existed on M&M's and diet coke
To the group of people on here I will dub the "cool kids", you know who you are; you post all the time, get called rude - mean - snarky, tell it like it is and are in general extremely entertaining. I love you guys! You make me laugh but most importantly, I have learned a lot from you,
I never think you are being mean to anyone. If your repsonse to a question comes across a little snarky, it seems to me it was out of utter frustration.
Just wanted to give a huge Thank You to you all. I have gained valuable knowlege in nutrition and exercise. You have debunked myths that I myself was quilty of believing and have given sound advice in areas of diet and fitness. If I ever learn how to post pictures, I will post some to show how your advice (and snarkiness) has helped me.
Thanks again!!
You talking about the TROLLS?
They're not trolls. They're honest. There's a major difference between who the OP is referring to as "cool kids" and trolls.
That remains to be seen about how said "honesty" is expressed.....0 -

Why do people think they have to answer something over and over?
Why not just not respond instead of getting "snarky"?0 -

Why do people think they have to answer something over and over?
Why not just not respond instead of getting "snarky"?
Because this forum, unlike the majority of internet forums encourages users to ask the same questions over and over rather than to search . Hence, people end up answering the same stuff over and over.
In other words, don't hate the player baby, hate the game.0 -
Responses really have to meet the need. I have done it both ways... there are times (most of the time I think), I post in a positive and supportive way. There are others when, quite frankly, the person needs a swift kick in the posterior.... I always covet to know when to be "snarky" and when to walk softly...0

Which is all fine and well until the ones who are doing the answering get "snarky"..
How about the ones who do the answering be the ones who hold a higher degree of patience for the new comers and the sometimes needed repetition?0 -

Sure. Just as soon as people cease driving slow in the fast lane, and start signalling before turning or changing lanes. Oops was that snarky?0
