I know, I know. Leave us alone you say. The people who care about grammar will be the ones who read this. The people who do not will go back to their browsing of icanhascheezburger.com.
Admittedly, when I am on my phone, I am not as stringent in my proofreading. I tend to skip words and fail to double check what my phone has automatically inserted.
But in a business setting, my grammar will be impeccable.

Nice article. I, too, am a grammar nerd. Actually, I just know how to write and speak in my native language (English). So, if that makes me a nerd, then so be it.0

God Bless You! Long live standards!0

Would someone copy this for me? The webpage isn't loading properly.
ETA: Never mind. It's finally loaded.0 -
Did not know #4! :laugh:0

Oh yeah. I'm a sucker for a well-placed semi-colon.0
-
My grammar is not perfect but I always appreciate it when someone takes the time to correct me. It's how we learn. So thank you and hug a grammar Nazi today!

I love it! I've been accused of being the grammar police one or twice.0
-
I like the distinction between the two.
I also tell my kids, "First impressions are important, but what comes out of your mouth leaves an indelible mark."0 -

And there in lay the difference...Those with no perception have none.0 -
Considering writing is my profession, I will forever love posts such as these.0

Grammer and spelling, for all intensive purposes, are important life skills with no acceptions to the rule, even though we are here to loose alot of weight we should still take it into consternation.0
-
I can let certain things slide as I can be lazy sometimes too - for example shortening words for texting purposes.
On the other hand though, there are things that just make me cringe!
Continually seeing words that are incorrect like 'Loose' and 'Grammer' is similar to having an itch that I just can't reach to scratch! :laugh:0 -
IMHO, it all started with "went missing." ARGH!0

This is fabulous. I'm in love with grammar. Of course, those of us who really love grammar realize that the English language is to grammar what abstract painting is to art. It's messy and often doesn't make a damn bit of sense.
Oh, and I also have trouble not making typos on my phone but that is why I avoid using my phone for work correspondence as much as possible.
I've found that the people who do genuinely give a **** about grammar are those who studied a foreign language extensively or read avidly. Otherwise, most people today don't understand why using the English language correctly is such a big effing deal.0 -
As a polyglot I am very proud to be a grammar and a spelling nerd.....but we also have to recognise that language evolves over time. Today's mistakes and faux pas become the norms of tomorrow......twas ever thus!0

I absolutely love this article!! I am a grammar nerd, and a spelling freak. My husband, bless his heart, can't spell to save his live, so I get to have fun with that, too0

Yes! I am a copy editor, so I have channeled my grammar obsession into a career.
Also, I'm one up on the article-- I have the 16th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style. So there!
Oh, and I must take the chance to advocate for the serial comma. Not using it just makes no sense!!!0
