You know, forget fruit. In fact, forget eating anything. Food is bad. It will make you gain weight, causes inflamation, and will give you a heart attack. Just drink water and plug yourself into a battery once a week.0

I'm not an expert but I love fruit & vegetables. I eat fruit everyday and have maintained a healthy weight for over ten years now. I eat apples, strawberries, and other berries almost daily. I also love melons, peaches, tropical fruit, etc.0

there's a reason fruits are in the food pyramid.
2-4 servings a day for PROPER NUTIRTION

I know, all those super fat people eating apples and pears.
I love fruit, I don't count the fructose sugar in it. Its not like eating a pack of Twinkies.
If you eat enough fruit it can be just as bad as eating a pack of Twinkies.

When I first went on Atkins and got to Phase 2 where you start adding in higher carb vegetables and fruit I went and got blood work done at my Dr's office..............
I was eating A LOT of FRUIT and VEGETABLES.................my Triglycerides were sky high. The Dr sent me to a dietician and I was limited on the amount of fruit I was allowed to eat (replaced the fruit with lower carb vegetables).
i was limited to eating no more than 3 servings of fruiter PER WEEK.
You all need to understand that it is not merely about the "calories, no fat".....................sugar (AND YES THAT INCLUDES FRUIT) will raise your triglycerides - which leads to inflammation that causes heart disease.
You were eating a lot of fruit and veg whilst on the Atkins??0 -

It's not true that eating enough fruit can be as bad as eating a pack of Twinkies. Yes if you ate enough fruit you might get as much sugar as that, but fruit also comes with a lot of fiber, vitamins, and water, which the Twinkies will not give you. I honestly don't know how you can even consider comparing the two.
Some people's bodies may be more sensitive to the amount of sugar in fruit than others, and may therefore have to limit the quantities, but most people will be able to eat as much fruit as they want as part of a healthy diet.
The fiber and water in fruit will fill you up quickly so it's not easy to eat more of it than you should (unlike junk food).0 -

Obviously theres lots of good stuff in fruit in terms of vitamins and fiber but there is the sugar. Better sugar than in candy I grant you, but if you are on a serious cut then I would say no to fruit if you can stand it - esp the high sugar stuff. Veg is better for nutrients.
In general I am finding that fruit is a bit annoying in that it just makes me want to eat more. I like it, its not unhealthy, but in terms of cals I need to watch it because I could eat it by the wagon load. I try just to ahve 2 max 3 portions a day0 -
I'm currently doing an all fruit breakfast. Fruit is raw and clean and therefore goes right through your body..no time wasted digesting in your stomach. With that, you also have more energy. Well, I do anyway. Here is a quote from the site I read about this... "It is easy to digest and the sugar from fruit (glucose) is in the form that your body can easily turn into energy". I eat fruit in moderation, and aim for 2 per day. Berries in the morning, citrus as a snack in the afternoon - not too late in the day.
It fills a sweet need with natural sugars and is better than chocolate or ice cream.
I think one small bowl of strawberries is not going to hinder your goals.0 -
I say eat the fruit. I typically eat about 3 bananas and about 6 to 12 strawberries a day, but I will eat just about any fruit. I recently tried mangos for the first time and found they taste quite good. Fruit is truely awesome.0

Eat fruits and dont worry about the sugar they contain. Just make sure they fit in your carb macros0

I guess I come from the "old school". I've always been told fruits and veggies are good for you! As with any thingh though, you have to limit your calories.0

This is irrelevant. It doesn't matter what time you eat your food.
Fruit is good for you. Just stay under your calorie limit and reach your macro/micro goals and you'll be fine.0 -

They say its because they have sugars. Albeit, natural sugars, but to a lot of people any sugar is BAD.
Why are you so concerned about what others think?! Fruit is nutritious, it contains fiber and many other things that are great for you. If you want to eat strawberries, eat strawberries. Don't overthink it!0 -

Like everything else...it is fine in moderation. I personally go for berries...which I see you like also. They are one of the fruits with a low sugar content. Personally, I have problems with yeast and avoid dense and sugar infested fruits like bananas and apples and make sure to take a multi-vitamin to get the potassium I need. To each's own, but I say keep doing what you are doing if it is working for you, and don't listen to everything your trainer tells you. They get paid to put ideas in your head and often impose their own philosphies on food onto you.0

This is my opinion so you can take it or leave it but there should be absolutely no reason to cut out fruits and vegetables when they are in their natural state. Anything in it's natural state is healthy. Strawberries have sugars but they are natural sugars. Vegetables also have natural sugars. Your body can process natural sugars. The sugars you should avoid would be artificial sugars, refined, processed, or any kind of sugar not in its natural state.0

I reckon the World Health Organisation has access to some proper scientist who know what they are talking about.
As far as Fruit sugar is concerned you need to understand the difference between Intrinsic and Extrinsic sugar. The MyfitnessPal limit on sugar is only really meant to be for extrinsic sugar, unfortunately no food labeling actually breaks the sugar down into different sections so it's hard to monitor. You just have to be sensible. The 5 Fruit/Vegetables a day is a good target and you shouldn't concern yourself with the sugar in them. Though fruit juice is a different matter as the sugar has been extracted from the fibre of the fruit so it is really extrinsic.0 -

Anyone telling you not to eat fruit is misguided at best, what any diet needs is BALANCED nutrition....including fruits.0
