Welcome...All I can tell you is don't think that you are on a diet. You are making a lifestyle change. I have been doing this site for almost a year and am down over 100 pounds. Good luck. If you are really ready you will be successful.

I started running around that weight. I used C25K to build up. I have now run several 5K races and run 5-6 times a week. Good Luck

Fantastic.. I just ran my second 5K....I still can't get under 30 minutes. My time last weekend was 33:15... I guess thats not to bad for someone who qualifies for the senior citizen discount
-
I can tell you it works. I have struggled with my weight all my life. I started on MFP on Sept 1st of 2010 and I have lost 86 pounds. I ran in my first 5K this past saturday. If you had asked me in September I would have told you I could'nt run. If you want to you will succeed.

My tip is don't try to keep up with the sprinters in the beginning. You will be surprised how many you pass back at the 2 mile mark.
-
My wife says I am addicted. I run about 6 days a week. I might run one in Leesburg next weekend.

Probably not safe, but most likely not effective. There is no shortcut. You have to burn more calories than you eat to lose weight. The most important things are to eat healthy and exercise. That is the only way to have safe and effective and permanent weight loss....

My wife and I have been using Almond milk for a while now. I use it primarily on my cereal for breakfast. I am not a milk drinker. I like it much better than soy milk. It comes unsweetened.

I am working toward my first 5K. I have neve run in my life. I will be 55 on my next birthday. I have my time down to 35 minutes. Not to bad for someone that qualifies for the senior citizen discount. To get started I used a modified version of C25K.
