  • I got healthier! I agree about the fortified foods. Have you supplemented him with some good GF vitamins? If not, you might consider it!
  • I wondered if someone else would say this! Women were not more friendly to me when I was thin. Men were VERY friendly! I have hit my goal weight, and YEP, its still the same as when I was younger. Men like teeny women. Even ones who scowl! So its not about the smile. If I am not smiling, as a thin woman, men will TELL ME…
  • Resisting food that make me feel ill is easy. To me, nothing tastes as good as feeling well feels. For years I suffered like you, with more issues also. One being raging un-treatable heartburn. When I quit wheat in all forms, I felt very good, for the first time in years! My heartburn seemed cured. But I began to crave…

  • Advertising from the people who want to sell us products does push the idea that grains are good for us. We are even told that our diet MUST have grains, and the whole grain is even better. Grains are NOT needed in the diet, as several of us here have proven, by going grain free. Some of us get ill by eating them. This is…
  • dark chocolate..... oh yeah!
  • I have no idea what you like to eat. Just take and eat something you like. Bear in mind, people do not understand fully and are not careful. You eat anything on that table, and you run the risk of being contaminated. Should they use a spoon in an unsafe thing, and then dip into something you thought was safe, you could be…
  • Just the opinion I have adopted..... there is NOTHING that tastes good enough to risk my health. No, I don't trust it. The trust would only be as good at the person working that shift doing the washing. Risk is not worth it to me. And no, I have not eaten out since February, and never will again. Only one other person I…
  • I am not going to join in the argument. To answer your question, yes, I avoid inflammation causing foods, and have weight loss to prove it is a factor for some people, not a gimmick.
  • You have Internet access.... YouTube is a great source for more ideas! There are some wonderful workouts there! You are NOT the only one who works out at home with little to no equipment!
  • WTG! I would have done that or worse.... gone down to the store for a face to face!!!!! I know I should be more tolerant of ignorant people, but I guess I am flawed that way! LOL After having read here at MFP, I wonder how many of us would even BE HERE.... especially the females... had we been told when we were younger…
  • It has NOTHING to do with your age! Consider the possibility (likelihood IMHO) that you have a food sensitivity!!!! Looks like you have tried 'every other logical' thing, and yet your tummy persists. I would bet the farm you have one, or more. Food intolerances can cause our stomachs to fill with fluid from inflammation...…
  • Its very true for me. I have learned if my body is screaming for me to eat in the evening, after my last meal, I am NOT hungry, I am thirsty! Also, when I crave salt. A large glass of cold water, sometimes two.....stops the cravings every time.
  • I have read that some people are sensitive enough to gluten, that they react by inhaling it. I believe that to be true, because I not only react to gluten, but corn as well. I think my corn sensitivity is the worst, I react to smelling it. It truly sucks, doesn't it?
  • I haven't exercised enough to claim I have. LOL But I want to tell you that exercise did not make you gain fat, so don't worry about the scales. If I understand it right, exercise can cause our muscles to temporarily hold onto a bit more fluid. That combined with eating more sodium could be the cause. Also, did you have a…
  • I didn't suffer from it until going GF! But with dry brushing and a good glycolic acid cream, I keep it under control.
  • My iron levels shot up, and didn't need to. I was in the normal range, and then shot up to way to high!!!! I now fight to lower my iron levels. Give it time, it will happen!

  • Yes! And I also have intolerance to any form of corn... reacting like you! Since avoiding it, my body became super sensitive, and a minuscule amount nearly kills me. Makes me super careful in food choices. It truly sucks!!!!
  • For GF supplements I use Vitacost.com. I see they carry a couple choices. You can do a search of what you want, then look to the left column and click Gluten Free, and the site sorts it for you. Sweetleaf Stevia clear has no gluten, and is a very good product. A bottle will last you forever, as you only use a few drops.…
  • I am so sorry to hear what you have been through, and can feel your pain! On day 3 of being gluten free, I was nearly manic with with draw. I read that this could happen, It was my only sanity savor. I was 'craving' food I don't even LIKE!!!! Yes, if you 'cheat' once you go GF your body will tell you in the worst possible…
  • The human body is an intricate machine. It is NOT going to give you predictable loss consistently! Just because we want it to, doesn't mean it will. If you do all the right things FOR YOUR BODY, and be patient, it WILL adjust to your efforts, and it will give you the pay off. For most of August and all of September I…
  • Wish I could tell you I am dedicated to exercise like many people here. I am not. I have a rebounder/mini trampoline and I did use that pretty regularly for three months, 1/2 hour a day. This last month not at all. I really need to get to it!!!! Its taken me 5 months to lose it. But don't use me as an example, please. In…
  • How much do you consider 'a lot'? I am at 31lbs and still going.
  • I, too, have a hard time hitting 1200 calories daily. My stomach just does NOT want that much bulk in it. I find upping my fat intake and eating pure nut butters (no additives) help me hit the calorie range without feeling stuffed and miserable.
  • In my case, I did not gain, but was already big enough. I used MFP to realize I was not eating 1200 cal. More like 800 on average. I was starving by not eating enough on top of starving by not absorbing what I ate. Note: I did NOT move on to any gluten free substitutes, but instead I cut all grains out of my diet. I…

  • I've not tried them myself. But know 3 people who did. They also began a new way of eating at the same time. They averaged a pound a week in loss. I think it was the eating, not the pill. The only Magic Pill you need it to adopt good lifetime eating habits, and move more.
  • Stop eating cereal if your gut cries when you eat it. You sound gluten intolerant. Classic symptoms!
  • Another vote here for whipping up a batch of oopsie rolls. Do a google search and you will find step by step instructions, with many beautiful pictures of how nice they are. Very easy and simple to make, but only if you can tolerate dairy.
  • See my ticker... it explains you can lose weight and eat avocados, EVERY DAY. I have eaten a whole one every day for 6 months, and the scales continue to go down.
