Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, almonds, protein shakes... if you have a sweet tooth, check out Epicurean Bodybuilder.. she an AMAZING pb&j cookie recipe (I skip the jelly) that are protein packed.

When I'm looking for protein dense food, I typically go egg whites or greek yogurt.

I have a sweet tooth too and I'd recommend you check out Epicurean Bodybuilder - http://www.epicureanbb.com/. She has some amazing recipes. I especially like her "brawny brownies" and "flourless peanut butter & jelly cookies" (I skip the jelly/jam). I put the single brownie recipe into ramekins, so you can divide the…

I use the Alton Brown recipe and my dehydrator. Use top round. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/jerky-recipe.html

I just plan for them.. For example, I have a recipe for flourless protein pb&j cookies or one for "brawny brownies" and I eat one or the other nightly..

Hi OP - Walking is also my main form of exercise (although I mix in some bw exercises 3x/week). I have a pedometer and typically log somewhere between 15k-20k steps a day, 5-6 days/week. To lose weight, the only thing that matters is a calorie deficit. Let me repeat that.. to lose weight the ONLY thing that matters is a…

I just went back maybe 7-10 days and it would help if you didn't go over your calories as frequently as you do. There's nothing wrong with having a day where you go over (for me it's usually Sunday), but having multiple days where you exceed by a significant amounts (500+ calories), especially considering you're targeting…

Get a crock pot and you'll have 100's of easy dinner options.
-
Personally, I don't think it matters so long as you're consistent with the time/day of week. When I weigh in, I'm looking for the change from week to week.

This... ^

I like Endomondo

If you're still having problems adding the calories and need another suggstion, try a couple protein bars thrown in with your snacks and meals. The one's I eat at 400 calories each, but I know there are one's out there around the 200 calorie mark.

I just took a look at your diary and you're fine. I'm assuming you have the MFP suggested %'s in. The important thing is that your getting good, clean calories. From the looks of things, you did great today.

Rest days are a part of my routine, that plus it allows me to mentally stay committed. My brain just can't handle the idea of working out EVERY DAY FOREVER... but, 5 days a week with 2 days off seems very manageable to me. Also, weight loss/gain and results frequently (I really want to say ALWAYS ) starts with nutrition,…

Pick whatever you want that meets your calorie and nutritional goals and substitute it instead. If you want a 1/4 or 1/2 of a waffle every morning, go for it.

In addition to what people have already said, if you decide to start running (even vigorous walking), I'd encourage you to take the time and money and invest in some good running shoes.
-
I have a recovery drink post work out. Mine is protein:dextrose 1:3 - chocolate milk is another option as others have stated. It works for me, so I keep doing it.
-
I always mix my whey protein with water and nothing else.. It's probably more an issue of what you are used to.
-
It's a great program.. if you have an mp3 player or iPod you can download a number of audio files for each week, otherwise you can just time your runs.
-
I know people have already said it, so I'm adding this comment for emphasis. Go to a running store and get fitted. They should watch you walk and some stores will even have you run on a treadmill to analyze your gait. Also.. running shoes should never feel like they need to be broken in. I made that mistake the first time…

Congrats on both counts!

I would tell you to set up your profile and goals and go with what MFP recommends to start out with and make adjustments from there. As you add exercise into your routine, you'll log that information and it will automatically adjust your calories. MFP makes the whole thing incredibly easy.

I'd say go with "Lightly Active" - I'm not sure why people are suggesting you list "Active" Here's the description for Lightly Active - Lightly Active: Spend a good part of the day on your feet (e.g. nurse, salesman) My Home > Goals > Lightly Activity (I have no idea what you put in before) I never count day to day stuff..…

sounds perfect for winter crock pot cooking!

LOL @marthafox1 Yeah.. I was out last night and it felt like 2F.. it is indeed here. I run inside during the winter although I still walk and bike outside. The only advice I can give you is moisture wicking material is a plus and dress in layers. Like yesterday, I had on a thermal l/s shirt with a couple layers over it and…

Skryim is incredible, but... might be a bit much for a 10 year old like oneIT said.

Let me preface my response with.. I consider myself a total newbie when it comes to running... I feel like I get a more "complete" work out when I run.. I'm sure part of that is the impact, but it also forces me to engage more muscles. With the elliptical, I just don't get that feeling.

Mmmmm... muffin tops.

If you don't already do a post work out recovery drink, you can use that to carb load. 3:1 (or 4:1) carbs to protein is what I do.
