First run down
Man does hitting the pavement feel good- LOL. I did 2 runs this week (mind you there were only 1 mile and 1.5 miles) but I was told to start at 1/2 mile-2 miles so I went middle of the pack. My knee is feeling great but my hip is stiff so need to do plenty of stretches. I think it is because my hamstring hurts as they took…

Am I nuts?
I have managed to get back up to 2 miles since surgery- not so much from knee pain but my hip is sore and of course cardio is still not up to snuff. I had surgery on my hip 3 months before ACL surgery. Same side- yep I am falling apart- LOL. Anyway I think it is from lack of use more than anything. So my crazy mind is…

3 week count down
3 weeks and I can start running again!! It has been since 1/3 I could not run and I am going absolutely nuts. But atleast me knee and ACL are repaired. I get that itch to just go do it every time I see someone out there. I have a feeling though it is going to be tough starting back up not just for getting into it but my…

Then- 2009 now- 2014,
In August 2009 I was at my heaviest and not very happy. I was depressed and not someone you would have wanted to be around. I finally realized I needed to do something and began my journey, I started with the couch to 5K and ChaLean Extreme. I had always been a member of the Y so started going again and swimming and doing…

7 day no sweets, no soda challenge? Starts Monday
Anyone want to join me in a week long no sweets or soda challenge? I don't drink soda but will admit to caving into sweets occasionally. I figure this is a good way to avoid the temptation for a week :-) Accountability and support from one another. We will check in daily. Sweets = candy, donuts, etc. My temptation is dark…

How is everyone doing
Sorry for complete lack of posting. I had hip surgery and could not run and to be honest it depressed me. I am back at it though. I ran a 4 mile resolution run on 1/31 and then damage my knee the next week. So I am awaiting results on that. But I am walking/jogging with knee brace. I am pretty sure if there is a tear it's…

Favortie Cross trainers/court shoes
I will be the first to say go to shoe specialist and have your feet fitted for the proper shoe for you. But that being said what shoes are you loving for cross training? I have plenty of running shoes and only 1 cross trainer that I am just not loving as I do not feel the needed support for lateral movements.

First 1/2 done!
I did it! Hip pain and all from Piriformis Syndrome. 2:34:35 so I'm not unhappy. Other than my hip I felt great! Now to rest for a week and hope it's better soon as I have a 25K in 4 weeks that I really want to run still!

Daily Check in Posting
I figured it would be easier to have a place we could post our runs daily.

What's your training schedule look like?
How many days a week do you run? Do you cross train, rest day, etc? I typically run 5-6x/week and some days throw in some weight training, zumba, pilates, biking and a couple at home programs I have.

Intro
Thanks for joining everyone. I'm Catrina and mom of 3. I started running in 2010 and have been hooked ever since. I even ran a 5K in 2011 when 36 weeks pregnant :-) Ok not the Chicago Marathon like the one lady who was pregnant, but still. I have done several 5K's, 10K's and an 8K. I have decided to step it up this year…

Question for Chalene Extreme people
I am trying to decide if I am getting in the proper amounts of carbs/protein/fats, calories while doing this program. I am wondering how you decided on what ratio to do? In searching I see some people say 40/40/30 others say 40/35/20. I am female 5'9 and 154. Per MFP I am currently at 1550 calories.

Counting sugar
I keep track of my sugar intake and am always over. :-( Anyway do you count your fruits and vegetables as sugars? What about yogurt? I am thinking maybe I am counting too many things against my sugars and worrying too much but not sure.

Calculating Maximum Heart Rate?
I am trying to make sure I have my HRM set to the right levels I have found 2 different theories on calculating Maximum Hear Rate and am not sure which one to use if either. I just received my ChaLean Extreme and am so excited. I have been doing 10 minute trainer on top of my normal cardio. Instead of doing the cardio in the routine I am assuming I count…

Accomplished my first 5k!
I did a 5k on Saturday and ran the entire thing. Between knee problems and having always hated running this was a huge accomplishment to me. Plus having not run much since having my 2 kids. I also did it a lot faster than I thought. I was prepared to just try and not be last and finish in 40 minutes. Well I finished in…

I could not…

Pilates/Yoga Mat question
I bought this mat for pilates but I slip all over it. It does not matter what side I use. It does not feel wet, my feet aren't slippery/wet. Is there anyway to get better traction or do I have a crappy mat? Also I didn't think it mattered using a yoga mat for pilates but does it?…
