If I ate 1650 calories and burned 700 calories, am I still in a calorie deficit?
I’m confused about how a calorie deficit works. Today I ate 1667 calories but I burned around 700-800 by exercising (I ran, walked and lifted weights). This left me with a total of 902 net calories. Am I still in a calorie deficit or should I not eat back the calories? 1300 - 1667 + 760 = 363 My calorie deficit normally is…

Stepped on the scale….
Good morning, I have been trying to lose weight for quite some time now and I used to use the scale to measure my progress, but it started messing with my head. Getting motivated?
What is everyone’s top way to get motivated and stay motivated long term for weight loss/fitness? I’ve lost weight before, and I think I understand the mechanics of the process just fine. But I’m really struggling with motivation to get on a routine this time. Somehow I can’t stop self-sabotaging almost immediately. 🤯😢

Are “body weight set points” real?
When I was losing the pregnancy weight 20 years ago people talked a lot about the idea that your body has a weight “set point” and nothing you do can change it, so even if you do lose weight your body will find a way to make you gain it back. I’ve already told my body that I don’t accept that and it better not try to pull…

Torn on exercise calories/activity
I've been losing for almost 10 months now, down about 81 pounds in that time. 39m/139lbs,5'5. In that time I've been not using exercise calories, and had my activity on active. My activity schedule is about the same most weeks Sunday- lifting, about 1-1.5 hours (including rests) Monday- rest day Tuesday- lifting, cardio at…

Habit Stacking: Starting small to build up to big goals.
This has been my new favorite approach. I've never been a fan of trying to do everything all at once and I know I need to make small changes toward a bigger goal. Every week I choose a new small goal to work on that builds on something week before. Eat breakfast-->track my protein-->aim for 100g daily. If I need to work on…

Anyone familiar with Dr. Christianson (Naturopathic Endocrinologist)
I have been stalking his info for a while on his Thyroid work and wondering if he is just a fraud with a good marketing plan and supplement to sell ; or if there is actually something to it. He is a Naturopathic Endocrinologist and the author of The NY Times bestselling Adrenal Reset Diet, The Metabolism Reset Diet and The…

Red Light therapy
So this is anecdotal, but in our gym we have a stand up Red Light therapy booth. Max time in it is usually 12 minutes (although I've done it longer when I have time). What I've noticed with it is that I have less joint pain, I seem to recover better from workouts and my skin is more pliable (less wrinkles). I don't know…

No “whoosh”?
I’ve historically lost 112lbs, put a bit back on so am now buckling down to lose those few lbs again. I menstruate so I tend to not lose weight during the first and third weeks of my cycle (menstruation and ovulation). And it’s fine, I get it - it’s hormones causing water retention. What annoys me though is that I never…

New to this community
I’m 17 years post op GB. I had my surgery in 2007 and went from 332 to 185 then I started gaining weight back. In 2012 I went for a CT scan which required me to have to drink the contrast and they saw it going 2 places. I had developed a gastro-gastric fistula which is very uncommon. That explains the weight gain. I went…

Not losing fat?
Hi guys, I do weightlifting 4x a week for an hour each time and I walk 10.000 steps a day (with a lot of speed). I am 1.75 and weigh 65 kg (woman). My weight never seems to change and I am muscular but I don’t seem to get leaner. I apparently just ate 2000 calories each day. According to myfitnesspal I should eat at least…
