I'm on a week break from everything - including tracking calories - except Wednesday when I will try this test out.

    Rest set!
Yes, long needed rest - my poor 43 something joints lol. It will only be my third rest week since the end of March.

    Ouch...
  • funny thread because my friend and I just made our ´bucket list´ and one of mine is just getting 300lbs 1x. I was getting 265 back when I was in my mid-20s, but haven´t lifted seriously in a long time. At 45 years old, I am going to make the push and see if I can get it.

Sounds good, aim for around 225x10 and you should be able to hit 300 for one.

I'm in a similar situation for my bucket list but I wouldn't mind hitting 3 plates. It has been a bit of a dream for me ever since I hit 275 years ago but haven't been seriously lifting for a long time. It would be nice to see if I could climb back to 275 for the end of next year, which isn't too much more than my current 1rm so should be doable.

I got 275 in September and was pleasantly surprised without really trying and after only 8 weeks of working the barbell again. I took venture into GVT for the past 6 weeks, but I think 315 is more than doable. I want to hit this grand number before the end of March which will give me a full year back in the gym. If I hit it before, then that's cool too.

I'm with you, EXCEPT for pickled herring.

Sick *kitten*. I tried that stuff once in a cream... I've eaten durian and that herring was worse. lol.

Yeah 3 plates here too, and at least 4 plates on squat and 6 on deadlift. Then, maybe... just maybe, I will be able to OHP 135#.

    Cry not.

I am impressed when I see men do 225 - there are a lot of guys who don't even attempt this lift and go straight for the Magnum plate machines - or whatever they are, never used them ever.

You'll get it. There's a woman who trains with my coach's brother.

She warms up with 2 plates, while wearing make up and huge earrings. I think her form is good, but I'm not sure because that's not what I watch when she squats. She's freaking amazing though, and I have a feeling she can outrep me at 225. Seriously.

Its one of those acquired tastes. I used to reel at it, but somehow I now enjoy it but it takes quite awhile to finish one of these

225 bench press max is clearly a guy who trains. I did not get that high the first time around.

    lol... sorry!

You know how powerlifters do the smelling salt thing?

Pickled herring is the new way to get that next edge.

Get this, I went to my local pharmacy to buy smelling salts or ammonia capsules.

The pharmacist told me they don't exist, and I must have been thinking about iodine capsules for first aid kits.

135 heavy? My Max is 160. Don't underestimate your average lifting woman. JS

    for bench? or for squats.

I'm not talking a 2 plate squat- I'm talking a 2 plate bench. My goals right now short term are a 3 plate DL, 250 squat and 200 bench.

What i'd REALLY like is a
    4 plate DL
    3 plate squat
    2 plate bench.

And that's the thank you give your pharmacist from saving you from a painful goiter?

we aren't talking about max- we are talking about repping out 135. My max is 185- and I would have a hard time repping out 15 at 135.

Squat, didn't realize we had shifted from a squat discussion.

Granted, said squat discussion may have been in my head.
