My favorite is has snowmen lined up with their stick arms saluting as Calvin's Dad comes up the walkway to the house.

    Too funny.

I always am suspicious of people who use the word brisk. Like they are really saying cold but are all happy about it.

I'm Canadian so I'm very familiar with the definition. Brisk means cold enough to be exhilarating without causing shivers. Crisp means the grass is frozen enough that it crunches when you walk on it.

"Brisk" is similar, in my mind, to when the British use "bracing" to describe something... it usually means chilly, in my experience!

Bracing falls between brisk and crisp.

All three are much warmer than 'It was so cold I saw a banker with his hands in his own pockets.'
