Raisin bran muffin (it's a Weight Watchers recipe - I have no shame), mini vine-on tomatoes, carrots, leftover pork loin, mozzarella, cherries, edamame.

Can you tell that I have all sorts of random things in my fridge and freezer that I'm trying to use up? (And yes, I have a batch of homemade muffins in the freezer that I forgot about and found this morning).

not exactly Bento but if you have an Aldi near you, they'll have lunch boxes that include a fork and knife for $3 for 2 boxes, it has a larger compartment and 2 smaller ones. http://weeklyads.aldi.us/Aldi/ListingDetail?ispartial=N&ReturnCircularPageFlag=Y&StoreID=2623643&ListingID=-2034516143

It's close enough, and they look fun!

Here's today's lunch. Pork & veggie dumplings, rice w/furikake, yellow bell peppers, carrots, green tea dessert thing, and almond/cashew/cranberry mix. 477 calories.

I love the way you set up the box, especially the cherries! So cute!

No box for me today; I decided sleep was way more important. I'm a little sad but the awesome news is I found decent cherries last night! I have a container of them for today. Super cherry bento, bwahahaha!

Finally got around to making my first bento! Not the prettiest but I've gotta start somewhere hehe I eat most of my food at work so it's hefty as it includes breakfast, lunch & snacks.

    80kbl588h178.jpg

Breakfast (184 cals): Greek yogurt & fresh raspberries

Lunch (615 cals) - Jasmine rice, Korean Beef (new recipe, so good!), a couple pieces of bean curd in mushroom & oyster sauce and tomatoes to fill in the gaps. Doubt I'll finish this, found out pretty quickly how much food I could fit if I pack it tightly o.o

Snack (176 cals) - Celery, grape tomatoes & a mini pack of hummus.

Pretty sure I'll be properly fueled for my workout after work

That looks great! I saw that square bento, and I almost bought it, but I'm wary of the little open slats around the edge of the bottom layer - is that an added challenge of using that box, or does it not even phase you as being problematic? I want to purchase another box so that I have more options in my bento-planning, and that one is on the list of possibilities.

@Narcissora I actually really like it and it wasn't a problem at all! The top tier is meant for veggies/salad/dry snacks which is great because my veggies can breathe. Also both tiers are larger than the average bento (600mL each) so I think next time I'll be using more greens/veg as filling.

Woah, that's huge! I don't think I could fill both tiers. My bento is 640mL total... I think I could handle 700mL, but I don't often eat a lot of veggies or leafy greens (not my cup of tea).

@Narcissora Yeah I like veggies (greens I need to work on) so it's not the biggest deal. When I was first looking at reviews it'd said that this was a good 'starter' bento to ease people into the normal bento boxes. I knew these were larger than average but I'd had no real concept of the sizing or how much food would fit LOL Next one I get will definitely be normal sized, but if I want a nice full salad with trimmings + snacks for later or just an excuse to fit in some extra fruit/veg/greens this definitely fits the bill.

OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE COSPLAY!!!

Edit: did you see that Simplicity and Mccalls now have a new line of cosplay patterns? They even have a Dalek and Tardis dress pattern! (But my sewing skills are total crap, so I don't make my own costumes. I just enjoy everyone else's creativity).

And now back to bentos... ;)

Agh, still just need to fill these better, but I think the issue is my box sizes, they are either to big or to small. Tomorrow's lunch is spinach, cheese, rice with pinto beans and chicken.

Very similar box to my last one but with.... cherries!!

Layer one-Eggplant Romano with Italian meatballs

Layer two- Cherries! and pecorino Romano with a spring mix and tomato salad. Served with Italian dressing.

And I'm totally abusing that elastic band today; my two layers of cherries didn't want to fit!
