Ok guys I JUST found out that I'm better off cancelling my appointment for tomorrow... because the medical check is only valid for a certain amount of time, so I will have to take another one in the future if my permanent residence application is not dealt with fast enough.

I want to cancel the appointment.... problem is I think they are closed (not picking up the phone) and I made an appointment, so I feel very rude not going in tomorrow. I am struggling between going in and calling early tomorrow morning to cancel the appointment like two or three hours in advance. I feel awful about doing that, it's incredibly rude of me and someone could have used that slot :( But at the same time I really don't want to go and then have to take another test. Argh, really wish I would have known this sooner.

I'd go and take my chances. I hate to cancel at the last minute too.

Me too, @FluffySandwich. I'd much rather have it ready to do and not delay the processing unnecessarily.

So, I definitely have ADD, no question. I also had blood drawn to check my thyroid since both my parents have issues, she put me back on the pill, and I go back in 4 weeks to follow up. As far as my back goes, basically I've got to just try to take Tylenol for now and when I go back we're going to look at trying injections. I'm currently on strattera for the ADD, to see if that helps, and once my lab results come back, we'll know what else is going on, or if my thyroid is okay or not. She did mention my weight, and I told her I was doing what I could to try to lose it, but she's also wanting to address that and go other avenues concerning that. She's concerned my weight could be affecting my back too, so I'm guessing if it's not my thyroid, she's going to try something else. She did mention the strattera has a side effect of loss of appetite, which can lead to weight loss. I feel better, but still a little confused.

Btw, anyone familiar with strattera? Lol

Not that one, but my son was briefly on Vyvanse which I believe is a similar ADHD medication. He's already skinny, and our doctor was definitely concerned about his weight and wanted him to weigh weekly. As it turned out it wasn't good for him, so he didn't take it long term, so it was a non-issue, but these kind of stimulants are known to affect appetite (since they are basically speed!)

I hope it helps you, and that you can get a resolution on your other issues.

Apparently getting tested now and sending it in with the application does speed up the process, but it may expire before they are done processing my application and then I'd have to get a blood test again. My boyfriend just informed me that I might have to get a second one no matter what I do. I'm sitting here after a few panic attacks today... I was steeling myself for going into the blood test tomorrow, sitting at home all day to try and relax and make myself mentally prepared... so suddenly hearing ''You shouldn't do it, you should wait'' has me all shaken up again. It's like my mind jumped in joy ("YAY NO BLOOD TEST TOMORROW!") while another part of my mind said "I already have an appointment.... for tomorrow at 10 AM." It just shook me up more. I'm thinking about calling them early in the morning to ask about this whole application business since they deal with these things. If they think I should cancel my appointment and are ok with doing it, then that's fine by me... if they want me to come in, I will. I don't want to be a burden on them, as these people make appointments for a reason. I don't want to cancel last minute... even with horrible anxiety over the blood test.

Not to make everyone sad, but I read this secret ages ago on Postsecret, and it really stayed with me. Although it would be hard to stay with a pet until the end, after reading this, I could never leave. :'(
    h69laalbfct1.jpg

I didn't stay with the first pet we ever put down..our cat, Bowie. I thought it would be too hard. I felt guilty every day after that...just imagining him there without his family. It still makes me so sad, even now as I type it.
When it was time last summer to put our dog Pacey down, I stayed the entire time until the very last few seconds. I didn't want my last view/memory (whatever you want to call it) of him to be after he passed/stopped breathing. But I held his paw and snuggled him the entire time up until the second before his last breath...and he stared right into my eyes the entire time. (I'm bawling right now typing this)...
Then just a few months later when our cat Steve had to be put down, I did the same thing.
It's still so hard to think about...but I feel much better knowing that I was there with them. Just still feel so bad about Bowie. If I could go back, I would.

I feel the same way. The only cat I didn't stay with I regret to this day. I will admit I did not stay with Oberon. If he had been in pain or suffering I would have but he wasn't and he had people with him ( my trainer and the vet) he knew well and was happily grazing. When a horse is put down they fall to the ground and sometimes twitch, etc. as if they are still alive even thought they are not. I just didn't want that to be my last memory of him. I did go to the barn that morning and say goodbye and feed him treats. I went to the beach and went for a walk by myself til the news came through he was gone.

I saw the allergist yesterday. He thought my nasal cavities, throat, and ear canals were fine, but expressed concerns about the sounds my jaws were making. He told me my allergies were likely exaggerated by some issues with my jaw, maybe TMJ, and refereed me to a specialist.

MY SO probably has a similar issue. He's been having a lot of trouble with episodes of muffled hearing in one ear and takes an antihistamine daily, but the ear nose & throat specialist thinks it is a jaw problem rather than ear or sinus. He's supposed to see his dentist about getting a mouth guard thingy to wear at night.

I already wear a mouth guard thingy because I grind my teeth at night, so I'm a little too thrilled that he will have to wear one too. Really I'm hoping that it helps with his awful snoring.

Please let me know if this does work because Mr. Mo snores like a freight train carrying a pod of humpback whales using chainsaws.

Bahahaha! I'm lucky in the fact that both my husband and I are silent sleepers, I guess. :D

I sleep like the dead. No noise. No movement. And not much bothers me. :) I can sleep through alarms and loud noises and terrible storms.

This is my sister. I, on the other hand, am a VERY restless sleeper. I toss and turn like crazy, and the lightest sound can usually wake me up. It stinks, since I'd love to have uninterrupted sleep. :p

Thank you! My next appointment is September 14th, so hopefully we'll know more about everything else then. I nearly gave rite aid a piece of my mind today though, they didn't put in our insurance information and told hubby that my ADD medicine would be nearly $400 and my birth control would be $20, and that our insurance card "wasn't working". He called the insurance company, and they told him my medicine should be $45 for the strattera and the birth control is completely free. The lady actually called the pharmacy to straighten things out for us. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy with rite aid.

I'm still working on getting caught up.

I went on a walk at lunch yesterday with a co-worker so that was good. I'm thinking about walking again today. :)

I have today and then half a day tomorrow for work so I'm in vacation mode already. This weekend I have my Red Rocks concerts so I'm really excited (Pretty Lights Friday and Saturday). :) Hopefully no one laughs at me since I'm older but I bought jewels for my face so I'm going to put those on and I have Glowbys for my hair (fiber optic glow barrettes for hair). I'm just going to have fun. I'll try to post a pic in the batcave from my phone later of my trial run of the jewels to see what you guys think.

Friday morning we are going to Original Pancake house. Strawberry waffles and home fries here I come. Yay.

Cool! I used to be a raver and did all the decked out gear at one time. I've been an EDM DJ for over 5 years. I remember when Pretty Lights was just an up-and-coming midliner. Now he headlines all of his shows. Do you by chance like Bassnectar? He is always doing shows at RR.

Yes, I actually like Bassnectar as well but I've never been to their concert yet (I'm determined though!-I need to just go, I need more money haha). This will be my 3rd year going to the Pretty Lights Red Rocks concerts so I'm really excited. I look forward to it every year. Tickets sell out so fast though.

That is awesome that you are an EDM DJ. We would get along pretty well. That's my favorite type of music. I'm kind of jealous, I always thought being a DJ would be pretty fun!

This is all very interesting... Froggy, I think that you should skip the counselling and find a new romance. A single guy, with similar interests, who doesn't snore...

Oooohhh now you are straying into dangerous territory.

This is why I HAVE to use my food scale and a separate container. If I sit down with the container in hand, it is empty when I get back up. One of the hardest habits to break for me. Good luck.

Likewise. I hate paying for single serve portions because the cost per ___ is sooo much higher. But it does help me keep my portion controls in check.

I've started doing that. Even though it expletive me off at the extra £££ wasted. I'm hoping the annoyance of wasted money will stop me buying it at all.

    pfft! Lightweight ;)

SSP told me yesterday that if he wants to(I don't know why anyone would WANT to) he can eat an entire giant Double Dave's Pizza... yuck!

I used to be able to eat a half a Papa Murphy's Family Size stuffed pizza by myself. Now, I can MAX 2 slices. *flexes muscles*

I'm not proud of this, but I used to (regularly) order and eat potato wedges, chicken strips, a large pizza and a tub of ice cream, from Pizza Hut. I always planned to eat the wedges and strips one night, and the pizza the next. never happened. and when pizzas were on bogoff, i used to order 2, planning to eat one, save one. nup, that never happened either. I am such a pig!

You aren't a 'pig'. This is purely emotional eating. That is different. I have never been much if a binge eater, but rather someone who eats a good amount of really fattening food and can eat it all day long. And sweets. But, I have never been able to eat more than like 4 pieces of pizza and then I am SO STUFFED!

I rarely get the 'im getting full' signals when i eat, except as @Susieq_1994 describes, after eating everything, then my stomach is groaning in pain. But i don't have the normal brain signals that tell me i've had enough :(

This reminds me of that show that was on the Beeb a few months ago (with that Dr Chris Tuleken chap??) about 3 different types of eaters and specific 'diets' to suit them. One group was the over-eaters who literally didn't get the hormone signal telling them they were full like most people did. Apparently it was a scientifically measurable thing. I take these TV science things with a pinch of salt, but I have known people like that. I think the solution for the over-eaters was a low GI diet since it was meant to be very filling and to sort out hormonal issues. It sounds a difficult problem to have!

I'm more of a grazer. I rarely eat a large meal, but I'd happily eat crap food 6 times a day and gradually put myself 1000+ calories over where I should be, yet never consume more than 200 calories in one go. The solution they put forward for people like me was the 5:2 fasting which is seriously not happening. I found switching snacks for fruit and a little bit of cheese far more effective!

I watched that. The science bit was good and the brain signals. I've tried low GI before, when i had glucose intolerance (pre diabetes) which helped with getting weight down and also reducing the glucose intolerance.

To be honest though, its eating stuff that i shouldn't that causes the problem. Icecream - i can't just have a serving. Biscuits - theres no such thing as just one. Really the problem isn't about being full, its that i've conditioned my brain to ignore when it is full and just keep eating, so now, it doesn't recognise full. For example, i've sat down with a share bag of crisps, decided i'd had enough, looked in the bag to see there is only a little bit left and thought its not worth putting them in the cupboard and eating them anyway. Now when that happens, i put them in the bin. I know its wasteful, but it gets it out the way and i don't feel 'compelled' to finish it. I've thrown away a lot of stuff like this :( Unfortunately i can't do this with Charlie's biscuits and stuff and I have been known to keep going in the kitchen to eat them. He pretty much has 2 biscuits a day (bedtime) and will always choose fruit or carrots over biscuits. You'll never find half eaten cakes or tubs of houmous in my fridge - i have to finish it. Its probably conditioning from being a child and told to eat everything on my plate because kids in biafra were starving.

I am trying to recondition my brain though. Putting fork down between bites of a meal and deliberately not finishing a meal, to see what i feel like. And part of that is chucking stuff away

This is why I don't have food in my house. I will just keep eating it.

Thank god I'm going to the doctor in a few minutes! I'm in so much pain right now it's literally making me sick! Everything from my lower back to my feet is just sharp, shooting pain, and I can barely walk. Damned (sorry Susie!)pinched nerves!

That sounds nightmarish! Hope the doctor can fix it quickly!

Won't be today. Someone screwed up my appointment and had me down for 9am as opposed to the 3:30 I had been told last month when I had to reschedule, so now I have to wait until tomorrow at 3 to see the doctor, I'm in so much pain I can't stand it, and I'm extremely pissed off right now. As bad as it sounds, my dad gave me something to hopefully help me get through tonight (he has the same problems I do) and until I can get to the doctor tomorrow. (Don't judge please, I know you aren't supposed to do that, but I don't know what else to do. Tylenol doesn't even touch it.)

    Sorry about all this!

Okay so I went to the doctor on Monday about my extreme loss of appetite and lack of a menstrual cycle since last September. She took a blood sample to test my insulin, DHEA, and estrogen levels. I'm still waiting for the results on that. I also went to the doctor today for both a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound to check for cysts (sorry if I grossed out any guys reading thise :#). Hopefully by the middle of next week I'll have the results of everything. The doctor I went to on Monday also suggested I see a therapist since I have been scared of increasing my carb and calorie intake since reaching my goal weight in January.

    Good luck with this!

Page 1440 guys... Love the even milestones.

Catching up while riding the stationary bike. It's been 48 hours. I'm allowed. :)

I'm glad you are allowed to do something.

Well I saw the pics of your surgery and it's a lot more than the snip snip I was expecting... so don't be moving that arm too much!

Your doctor sounds very thorough... hope everything works out well! (I'm still not rooting for early menopause, lol)

Ugh, I'm quoted way back in the peanut buster thread and so I keep getting notifications that you guys are STILL TALKING ABOUT PEANUTS AND I CAN'T HAVE ANY AND IT'S MAKING ME SAD. Hahaha.

    LOL

That has happened to me before, notifications for things that no longer have anything to do with me!

I eat straight out of the container ALL THE TIME. Also, I can down a pint of ice cream like nobody's business.

I'm not proud of myself...but I have days where I can eat the world. Like, disgustingly huge amounts of food. Not sure how it all fits in there...but yeah. Kinda gross.

Same here. Then, once the eat-the-world feeling wears off, I feel so disgustingly sick/full and my stomach feels like it wants to pop, and I wonder how I could have gotten to this point of fullness without feeling the discomfort beforehand. I have no idea how it happens! It's like my stomach goes numb for a while, then suddenly feels everything at once. :s

Yep, I know this feeling as well. Every time it happens I always think, this is awful and I will never do this again. And yet, it always happens again...

    YUP

So, today I just want to say I am getting so fed up at my own posts and my mistyping. Particularly when I am trying to catch a few posts in the AM when I am stuck in traffic or guzzling my protein shake to get out the door, etc. Then I come back hours later and go grrrrr how did I mistype/post that so badly!

So, friends, as a sweeping apology, I apologize for mistypes, wrong words and misspellings in my (lame) efforts to keep up.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

It drives me insane when I post something and then see it in a quote later and realize there is a mistake....that happened to me tonight already! So frustrating!
