I've just gotten back to the seaside house and managed to explode my stuff everywhere. I don't know how I do it. I am clearly gifted at making a mess.

I have eaten loads this afternoon and a bit over target, but not overly worried, due to yesterday's burn.

Have so much to do tomorrow - including making jelly lego, animal biscuits, dinosaur jellies and a train cake for Charlie's birthday. Goodbye calories!

Happy Birthday Charlie!!!!Take lots of pics of your goodies!! I am also gifted at making messes.

I confess that I am SO OVER this back injury. Dude, just GET OUT OF HERE. *grumpgrumpgrump*

I hate that I can't post regularly anymore because my ability to use my laptop is limited and my tab stinks for typing. And I hate that we might not get to drive to Bahrain to watch Inside Out at the theater because I can't sit for 3+ hours. And I hate... everything. Just everything.

Big hugs. Can you take little breaks on the drive so you don't have to sit for too long at once?

Not really--Bahrain is connected to Saudi Arabia over a long (60+ km) causeway, which goes over the sea. It has a no-stopping-for-anything-whatsoever rule until you reach the border crossing. But I'm hoping that I'll get better before my husband's two week vacation is over so that we can still go at some point. Send lots of healing thoughts! ;)

Whatever you do, just be honest.

So much this @FroggyBug. I'm guessing as I keep reading I'll see how it went, but if I don't: How'd it go?

I have about 3 hours before I leave to go. I'll probably update in the morning. I really am having problems with being anxious though. New stuff always gets me like this. I'm feeling the panic. :)
    Breathe slowly. Hugs

Update on my loss of appetite and amenorrhea for anyone who remembers me talking about this before. I just received a copy of my blood test results where my DHEA, progesterone, estrogen (estradiol, estrone, and total estrogens), insulin, and TSH levels were tested. When I talked to my doctor's medical assistant a few days ago, she said everything was normal. WRONG! My DHEA and TSH levels were normal, even though my TSH was towards the low end of the normal range. However, my insulin was below normal. My progesterone and estrogen were both way below normal. I'm 24 and all of the numbers were in the range for a post-menopausal woman. I called the doctor and talked to the same medical assistant that I talked to the other day. She said once I increase my calorie intake to around 1,500 a day (which was suggested by my doctor who did all of the blood tests), my hormones will normalize after a few months. She guesstimated it would take between 3 and 6 months. I also received a copy of my pelvic ultrasound. I have a subserosal uterine fibroid, but it's small and benign, so my doctor it's nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks for the update. Have you been able to increase your calories some yet?

Okay so for anyone who hasn't read my earlier posts, I haven't had a period in almost a year (September last year was my last one) and I have had a severe loss of appetite and literally never get hungry. I lost 80 pounds and reached my goal weight in January. But since then, it's been hard to increase my calorie intake (especially carbs) because I'm afraid of gaining all the weight back. I know I lost my menstrual cycle because I exercised a lot and didn't compensate with enough calories, but I slowed down on the exercise in November while keeping my calories the same with hopes that my period would return (obviously didn't).
Anyway, for the past month I've been eating under 300 calories a day and I actually have to force myself to eat even that little. Yes, I know it's not healthy to be eating under 300 calories, but at least it's SOMETHING and not anything at all (even though I could easily go without eating for 1-2 days and still not get hungry). I went to my OB at the end of May and she tested my thyroid, sex hormones, etc. and everything came back normal except for my LH level, which was really low.
I still didn't have an answer on what to do to get my period back, so I went to my family doctor last Monday and she took another blood sample to test my insulin, DHEA, estrogen, progesterone, and thyroid levels and ordered a pelvic ultrasound. The pelvis US showed a benign (thank God) subserosal uterine fibroid which she said is nothing to worry about. **UPDATE** I just got my blood test results for the hormones and they were all normal (thank God). I'm honestly shocked that my thyroid is normal. I have to go back on September 25 for a follow-up, but I asked her what I can do between now and then that could get me to start having a regular menstrual cycle again. She said to cut down my water intake (I drink 5 L a day) and increase my calorie intake to a healthy level again to around 1,500-1,800 a day. I feel like that's going to be hard because I don't eat fast food or drink Starbucks (which I did multiple times daily my entire life up until I graduated college in May of last year). I also only eat foods that are in the perimeter of the grocery store (so obviously no processed foods).

Milk and cottage cheese (full fat) are on the perimeter. Buy a protein shake mix - EAS Complete Nutrition is good and at Target - and drink that in your milk. Eat the cottage cheese with fruits and veggies. I have been where you are. I know you don't want to, but do it anyway. 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and one shake a day for a week or so and then two of each. As your appetite comes back, you can sub in chicken or whatever meat you like for a shake. Good luck. It is hard work.

I don't eat dairy products since they make me break out. Eating more is so much easier said than done. I eat 8 oz of meat every day (4 oz chicken and 4 oz extra lean ground turkey) and plenty of veggies of mainly leafy greens.

I don't eat dairy either. I sadly can't have eggs either. Can you have eggs and is there a form you like them?

My daughter and I found a vegan shake mix we like - Naturade All-In-One Nutritional shake. I have lots of food issues and this works for me (non GMO, Non Dairy, Gluten free, soy free and so on). If there is a food you have an intolerance, allergy, or aversion to but are interested in this let me know and I will read the label for you.

Hugs and I'm rooting for you.

I do like eggs, but I stopped since they made me super bloated :/. One protein powder that I like is the vegan Garden of Life raw protein powder, chocolate version. Have you ever tried that? I went through a vegan phase 2 years ago and really enjoyed that one. No allergies, but there are some foods that I don't eat since they don't agree with me or I just don't have a craving for them anymore (i.e. dairy and eggs).

    Hugs!

Thank you. I don't crave a lot of foods anymore but I chime in the those who are concerned about your calorie intake. I'm not a vegetarian (was for a long time) but daughter just decided she wanted to be so for her sake I'm keeping our house veg for now. If son has serious complaints about it I'll work with it.

How about a homemade chicken tortilla soup? I start with a carcass and cook it with veggies to make a stock. (Sometimes I repeat to make a very rich stock, then I cook a chicken in the stock (throw a beef bone in too for extra richness). Strain the stock, shred the chicken and put the chicken and stock in a pot (I'll have to look it up to remember) add chopped bell pepper, chopped sweet pepper (anaheim?) and chop carrots, celery, onion, & garlic, add drained hominy (1 - 2 cans), salt, pepper to taste. Use homemade or premade (I live where I can get really good corn tortilla shells) and slice then spray with olive oil and toast. Serve the soup with a sprinkle of tortillas on top. Oh, I also chop up a bunch of cilantro right before serving. (Optional but I love it). I may have forgotten something but this will get you a rich, tasty, homemade soup.

@nonoelmo I'm stealing this... I LOVE soup. Especially homemade because I don't typically have to watch the sodium content as much as with prepackaged/processed stuff.

@saraherren We are all rooting for you here. You've got this. 5 liters of water a day is pretty intense and probably why you definitely don't feel hungry. Maybe switch it out with something that has calories? Like a shake or some natural juice?

I eat some kind of soup every week day for lunch. I love soups/chili, I have 4 recipes I especially like and rotate through them and have the same soup all week usually then cook another and have it the next week.

I love soup too.....does it last all week without going nasty?

The only one you have to eat quickly is the tortellini one or the noodles get soggy, but 3 days or so and it is still good.

When I make any kind of homemade soup, I always cook the noodles separately and add it to the bowl when ready to eat. I cannot tolerate any pasta even slightly overcooked, so I cannot cook it directly in the soup.

I wonder if I should be worried about my state of mind that tonight on the expresso bike I was running the cyclists over...aiming for them... rather than simply passing them. I even wiped out two at once. I was quite proud of that.

Again, thanks for positive thoughts for my sister. It's very encouraging to hear of people who have had good results after the same injury. If anyone knows of bad outcomes, thanks for not telling me about them. :)

She's still waiting for surgery, unfortunately. I don't know what's going on. They seemed pretty sure it was going to happen today, but everyone is very vague about it. (For US people - this is the price you pay for socialised health care! Yes, you don't pay for the surgery, but on the other hand, you have to be patient.) (A patient patient).

Anyway, I saw her earlier and took her some stuff so she could shave her legs and dry shampoo her hair because a girl likes to look respectable before having surgery. I also ran around and picked up the after-surgery equipment she needs - this is stuff like a massage-table type bed arrangement and a chair that enables you to sit up while keeping the face tilted downwards. I hope that will help.

Nice. Bonus points if they're the ones with Marshmallows.

I have ate like crap the past three days & have an ear infection. Dinner tonight included a tortilla with MaraNatha Caramel Almond spread & four cups of Post Ice Cream Pebbles.

Feel better soon! I hate ear infections. Ouch...

Thanks. Luckily I am on amoxicillin, but still can't hear that well out of my right ear.

The worst earache/ear infection I ever had when I was around 16-17 years old. I remember it hurt so bad that I was crying & my mom had to drive me to the ER. I am pretty sure my ear infection last year was the same ear.

This happened to me. And three increasingly stronger courses of antibiotics wouldn't kill it off--I had the thing for THREE MONTHS. Boy, did it kill me. It was a fungal infection (which is why the antibiotics weren't working, according to the ENT specialist that saw me after all the antibiotics), which went on to develop a secondary bacterial infection, which then had to be treated with MORE antibiotics. :D

Ugh! I cannot imagine having an ear infection for three months. Was it in both ears or just one?

Just one. I'm sadly prone to ear infections, and have been since I was little--I have visible scarring in one ear (and probably now have it in the other as well, which is the most recently infected one) due to severe infections from when I was younger. The ENT showed it to me on a camera stuck in my ear. :D I also saw the fungus--that was kind of gross. :p

    That would be gross.

I feel like I can join you lifting gals, even though I'm nowhere near lifting the weights you do. I've been at it 4 weeks and I'm really enjoying it. I've found a good trainer, who makes me do reps of 24x20x20x20 and increases the weights on each set. I'm quite proud of what I've achieved so far, but my arms/shoulders definitely need more work!

I was in the gym for 4 hours yesterday (unintentionally). I went to have a run, then chill out before circuit class, but my trainer grabbed me during my run and said we were going to do arms (didn't have a session booked), so went straight from running, to weights, to a circuit class and finished off with aqua aerobics (ok i treat that as a stretch and relax session). But today I am hungry!! I have already eaten my measly lunch. There is torrential rain stopping me heading out for something else (i'm thinking chicken) to eat.

Sounds like that's all of us here! Congratulations on finding a trainer you like and we can all get stronger together!!

I'm tempted to search the thread for @BZAH10 's epic shoulder workout. I am seriously considering buying some small dumbbells for my seaside house.

Message her! She is usually quite responsive (I have checked in with her a few times... too bad she won't come back as we are too overwhelming with the posting again.

    That is super cool!!!

He hired Loverboy to play for our 25th reunion.

OMG (again) I was a huge Loverboy fan when I was teenager..off to download some now :)

Ditto! What does this guy do that he is a billionaire!? Is he single? Can I come? I saw Loverboy in high school. My 2nd concert ever. .

He owns the largest Corporate Tax company in the country, no, no - only classmates and spouses (and hubby wants to go with me) and cool! LOL.
