    I laughed at these two customers the other week (in my head of course). They both were going through perimenopause & discussing how much weight they were gaining & they barely ate a thing. I kindly mentioned that I lost over a hundred pounds using MFP & the lady said that would never work for me since I only eat one meal a day & I eat less than 500 calories. With those kind of people I wish you could videotape what they eat & show them how much they're either eating or drinking mindlessly without even thinking about it.

    I wanted to say if you ate less than 500 calories a day then I would highly doubt you would be in the position to need to lose 20 pounds. I wanted to scream starvation mode doesn't exist, because if it did then why do people in Africa die from starvation?

    My 2 thoughts on this... No way is she living on 500 calories a day. Can you? Yes, I have done it several times on HCG. But never long term. She would be dead.

    And 2 I slipped through menopause and into menopause (apparently) LOSING weight on watching what I eat and walking. I am thinner than I ever have been. And maintaining like I have never been. So I call BS on that one.

    I'm always wage to tell them because it has been so good for me. It's always so sad to watch their face change from eager anticipation to disappiontment.
    It inevitably ends with them saying sadly "you are probably exercising too."
    I try not to get disappointed with their disappointment.

    I had a customer come up to me the other week & say they were impressed with my weight loss & told me that I inspired them to get weight loss surgery. They gave me a high five after I told them I didn't have weight loss surgery.

    One of the women who works for me had weight loss surgery very recently. She wasn't like huge. I really don't understand why she did it. It can be dangerous and honestly she wasn't that heavy. She said she just couldn't control her eating. Not judging I just worry about that route. I know someone who had something rupture and almost died after weight loss surgery.

    That's a bit sad. I wish there was a limit of weight that you couldn't have weight loss surgery or only use it in extreme circumstances. I constantly hear people mentioning that so & so had weight loss surgery only to gain almost all of it back & more on top of it.

    From watching my 600 Pound Life I remember the doctor saying that there's ways people can cheat with the weight loss surgery.

    Aren't there always? I suspect this stemmed from her sister having had it done. And probably losing a lot of weight. Well time will tell. I know 2 women who have had our and maintained so we'll see. I hope she succeeds.

    I got out of a very toxic, five year relationship over the holidays. I have moved twice, changed jobs, started up school and later dropped, had a few hook ups and got out of a very short rebound relationship all in the past five months. I do not handle change well and I have terrible coping mechanisms. As you can see above, ha.

    I used my circumstances as a crutch to half-*kitten* workouts and let up on nutrition. I was 165 in July of 2015. Then I managed to maintain around 170 ish. Give or take five pounds, I was in the 170 range for the remainder of 2015. I am now bordering 180 again, which I haven't been in over a year. My starting weight on my health journey was 213 lbs...I am in no way, shape or form wanting to get ANYWHERE near my old weight! I am disappointed in myself that I let myself gain back a good ten pounds after the break-up!

    I signed up for a gym membership toward the end of February and I signed up for a half marathon last week! I am looking to re-lose the 10 pounds that I had gained post-breakup. My goal is to eventually move lower than the 165 that I was once at!

    Good luck to you in the half marathon. Be kind to yourself, you've been under a lot of stress.

    There is a bariatric clinic in the hospital I work at. The last I saw data, our surgery patients succeed between 75-80% of the time. There is a BMI limit for surgery at our clinic and there is rigorous psychological pre-screening and counseling is available after surgery. But of the people I know who have had the surgery, two have done a great job losing and maintaining and two have not. I believe that surgery can be helpful, but in the end, you still have to do the work.

    I have a coworker that will eat small prepackaged cookies at breakfast and think it is healthy because it is a cute little kid package......

    Yes, I do know people. I don't understand them, but I know them.

    Coworker 2 brought an unopened bag of grapes to work on Thursday morning and ate the whole thing through the day. I get that grapes are whole food, but they are whole sugar. I get annoyed at the sight of a diabetic making terrible food choices, especially when they complain about how bad they feel later. I want to replace her food stash with Quest bars - the lemon ones so that she has to be desperately hungry to eat them.

    I make bad food choices at times. But I also know what I can handle and when I can handle it. My boss is forever trying to get me to try this or that at work and I will not because I will feel sluggish and gross. When I do eat junk it is at night when I can relax and then sleep and am back to normal by morning.

    I am making bad choices right now cuz I am overtired, over hungry and in pain :s

    ETA: Whole food or not, I would be dead if I ate a whole bag of grapes

    I am running a 5k on May 1. I am not a runner, but this is for a free medical clinic where I am on the volunteer staff. I went to see how bad this is going to be this morning and ran two 15 minute miles. At about 20 minutes in, I realized that I didn't take my asthma meds yesterday or this morning. Rescue inhaler when I got home, followed by regular meds. Next run should be better.

    Oh, be careful!

    I usually have to either eat a protein bar or a breakfast filled with protein to be able to function throughout the day. If I ate cookies or something like that I would be so hangry it wouldn't be funny.

    Me too! My daughter would never understand why when we would go out for breakfast I would still get eggs instead of waffles or something. Now she just say "I know, PROTEIN!"

    Oh yes there is. I have known THREE, yes THREE people that had weight loss surgery and gained all the weight back.

    I am not sure about two of them, but the third girl ate a diet of purely junk food, such as cheesies and chocolate because "junk food liquidizes easy and does not give me heart burn or indigestion".

    I am sorry for the hard time you are having right now, but ever so grateful that you know not to mess with your diabetes.

    I don't know why she isn't dead, other than copious doses of insulin and other medications. I think I would be sick if I ate a whole bag of grapes. Moderation is important.

    I am running a 10K this coming Sunday and I am not a runner! I just want to finish in less than 1.5 hours, wish me luck!
