I'm in Syracuse for two days. I went to Delmonico's and ate enough food for at least 2 people. I fear it will never digest. But it was soooooo worth it.0

Confession 1: I packed an awesome lunch today and wanted to devour it before 11 this morning. I don't take lunch until 1. I managed to make it until noon, but now I'm sad because my food is over. I often get sad when my food is over.
Confession 2: I totally had Dr. Pepper last night with my Auntie Anne's pretzel bites and didn't log it. Oops.
My youngest (8) has a bad habit of taking bites out of her lunch why she packs it. The school policy is no junk food (crisps/chips, chocolate, cookies/biscuits) so it's not like it's something sweet. Came down stairs yesterday and she had half her sandwich gone. This was after her breakfast.
Errrrr, what?! How is that even enforced and why? I'm all for encouraging healthy habits, but this seems a bit extreme.
My children's school is the same. I'm used to it now.
my kids school does this too. sort of. The meal must be "balanced" so you cant send a bag of chips and a can of pop and call it lunch. You can send a snack sized bag of chips along with a sandwich and an apple.
If the lunch you packed is not a "balanced" lunch, they will give your child a sack lunch from the kitchen, which is a cheese sandwich on wholegrain bread, a fruit, a carton of milk, and a oatmeal cookie.
Then you get a nasty note about the inadequate lunch you packed. So that is how they enforce it. I know this because I asked the school at length about it.
My son has a sensory disorder, so basically his lunches are the same thing, everyday, with no variation. I was worried I would get nasty notes about it, but they assured me that was not the case! Thank goodness.
Thank you all who have explained this lunch policy. It makes me wonder what would've happened if that was enforced in my elementary school because from 1st - 3rd grade I suffered extreme anxiety which led to stomach issues and the only thing I could keep down for lunch for three years was a single chocolate pudding. That was it. In 4th & 5th grade I managed 1 plain tuna sandwich. (and I'm still lagging behind on this thread; been super busy at work)
I can see the need for a policy like this though.....I remember when my son was in the first grade, I was on a field trip and one of the little girls in my group was asking to eat lunch as soon as we got there at 9am. I asked her what she had for breakfast and she said she never had any breakfast. When I opened her lunch bag, there was a giant bag of skittles and a can of soda. That was it. I threw it out, gave her a granola bar and we bought her lunch (at least a slice of pizza or whatever was better then what she had!)0 -

I'm getting really sick of the hoops I'm having to jump through for a potential job. It's retail, working basically as a stock person/cashier. In the past when I've applied for jobs like this, it was: fill out a one-page application, go for an interview (or sometimes a group interview), get a call that you got the job. Period.
For this one, I had to fill out a half-hour long application online. Had a phone interview. Had an interview with an assistant manager. And now have to go back for ANOTHER interview with someone else! I'm sorry, but what is this madness?! I'm applying to a work in a store, not the freakin' FBI!
Sorry but this seems ridiculous and I'm just frustrated. If you don't know by now if you want me to work there or if you don't want to hire me, just say so! I'm a big girl and I can take the rejection.
On the plus side, I thought I looked pretty good all dressed up and fancy-like.
So, is it Wally-world? Just wondering since I see people filling out apps on those little kiosks at the store.
I wanted to ask this too.....I worked at a Wal-Mart for several years and had three interviews to get that job......So, is it Wal-Mart?? (I know this might have already been answered cuz I am several pages behind still.....but had to ask just in case).0 -

Not to ruin the vibe or anything, but my husband texted me a little while ago and told me my step-daughter had a miscarriage. I am really sad for her and especially sad for my husband. He was so looking forward to becoming a grandpa. I am a little sad too as I had just started warming up to the idea of being MoNana or GrandMo.
Oh, so sorry to hear this!!0 -

My secret is that there is a little house for sale that I am putting an offer on tonight and I am really hoping they'll accept. I'm so so so so so excited about it but I'm not telling anyone IRL (besides my family) because I'm afraid I'll jinx it. It's perfect for me (and my dog )
I've lived with my brother for 8 years and while we still get along the thought of having a space that is 100% mine is... well, to be honest I can't even think of the right word for it.
Good luck!!0 -

The Twilight books were based on dreams!! Good literature? Perhaps not. But, I'd gladly settle for the fortune from that franchise.
I have had some really great dreams, where I'm not even in them, it's like I'm watching a story take place from afar. I'm not giving away any more details, as this will be my fortune to earn. Lol0 -

When I was younger, if I started laughing really hard, my head would turn to the right, and I would laugh so hard that my whole body would be moving up and down, but no sound at all would come out. I had no control over this at all. And my head ALWAYS turned as far to the right as it could. My friends called it the "No look laugh", and everyone thought it was hilarious. I have not had it happen in over a decade or more, I have no idea why it happened, or why it stopped.0

My daughter was looking over my shoulder the other day as my best friend (English teacher) and I were messaging on Facebook. She couldn't believe that we used correct spelling, proper grammar and no text-speak. I told her that's how it was in the olden days.
I HATE text speak....is it seriously that much more difficult or time consuming to type 'you' instead of 'u'??
I always text properly and cannot stand when someone text me back a series of stupid single letters and numbers! HUGE pet peeve!0 -

I have never smoked weed. I've had friends around me that have or do, but it's never appealed to me. I'm not against having it legalized here, but I do hate the smell and wouldn't want to be around it.

I confess that I have never tried illegal drugs of any kind. If weed was legalized here, I would still not try it. I was raised in a strict no-alcohol environment (I am a PK), and I am proud that I have a healthy relationship with alcohol.
Good for you! I know several PK's and they refuse to touch alcohol of any kind. To each their own, I guess.
Thank you! I never thought my Dad's choice in a career should define who I was. That being said, my parents are actually pretty cool as well. One of the reasons there was such a strict no alcohol rule was because my Mom was raised by an alcoholic mother and did not want her kids to ever go through what she went through.

I'm sure negative responses would have followed had you posted the response, but there are SO many people that use the wrong word maybe if it WAS pointed out every time people would finally start to learn?

I had anxiety as a child, too, which also resulted in me throwing up very frequently. Looking back, it's odd my parents never seemed to worry about it. Did you eventually outgrew it? I still have anxiety, but grade school was the only time period I threw up from it habitually.
My 7yo has been doing this since she was about 3. Even at home. We are thankful when we can get through a whole week without her throwing up at the supper table. She has been to several specialists and they all agreed that it was definitely psychological and not physical. Do you remember how old you were when you grew out of it?
I never did it past the age of 12, even though I've struggled with a lot of anxiety and depression through the years. Surprisingly, even with some pretty bad body image issues and binge eating, I've never purged.
I refuse to throw up now, unless I am horribly ill. I had a very nauseous pregnancy, but only threw up twice, I think just through sheer willpower. I just hate that helpless feeling.
I wish I had that kind of will power. I get bad migraines once in a while and if I don't catch it early enough to sleep it off, I get physically sick and the convulsions result in it coming out both ends. I can't stop it. I am grateful I have a hubby that doesn't mind getting his hands dirty if I barely make it or if my glasses happen to be off and I can't see where I'm going

Sigh, I have been out of this site for 2 days, I am afraid of how much I have to catch up on but... for this... I was always super square and introverted and way too serious. I wish to this day I could be more wild and fun. But I can't even last beyond a few drinks and its like...sorry gotta go to bed! Plus I don't get wild and crazy when I drink, I just want to talk. And I don't like crowds, parties or being up late... I get self conscious, withdraw into myself and tired. I am best with 1 or 2 friends at dinner or something, then I have a ton of fun. But I do envy people who are partiers. Just not in my nature I guess.
I am like this now. I value my sleep way too much. My dad is an avid pot smoker and I was around it all the time growing up so it wasn't a taboo. I didn't try it until 16 or 17. when I was about 18/19 I smoked pot socially. I remember one night we smoked so much and had the ultimate binge/munchies. Between 4 people we polished off 2 big bags of chips, a tray of Chocolate chip cookies, the store bought powdered donuts, pepperoni, and a banana cream pie. I haven't touched pot since I met my husband when I was 22. I drink socially now but I can take or leave alcohol. Despite my dad also being a 2 pack a day smoker since I was an infant, I have never tried it.

Most of the PK I know were very bad. Kudos to you!
I admit that I wasn't sure what PK meant. I thought it meant phenylketonuric, but couldn't figure out the relevance.
I have no idea what it means, I even tried to look it up....what does PK mean?!?!?!
Pastor's kid. MK stands for missionary kid, just to add to the knowledge base.

Confession: back when a certain candidate announced his run for presidency this year, there were media crews all over my university campus. I was shaking mad at how many faux "journalists" were making stories out of nothing and harassing students. My roommate even had to talk me down from telling off a certain Buzzfeed "writer" whose story contained absolutely false information... I'm a journalism major. I honestly fear for what the media circus will look like by the time I graduate.0

I hate it... I think my sleeping habits are very poor. Last night I know I woke up about 15 or so times trying to get out of bed to finish "work" that didn't exist.
Sometimes, I'll wake up and while still half-asleep, I'll try to solve problems from my dreams. Like if I'm dreaming about my car breaking down, I won't be able to get totally back to sleep until I figure out where my AAA card is, how I'm going to call for a tow truck, how I'm going to get wherever I'm going (in my dream), etc. It takes me a while to realize, "Um, you're in bed and your car is fine. Go back to sleep."
And I always wish I'd written down some of my dreams. I almost always remember them in the morning, at least for a little while, and some of them are so colorful and vivid, it's amazing.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm tryna find the.... the... the... uh. Oh, wait... I was dreaming. Sorry.''
Then the cycle continues! I just remembered that my dad used to do the same thing. One time he was calling for me from his bed, and I ran in and asked him what he was yelling about. He said "The man with the red scarf. Did he leave???'' He kept asking me this and I had to tell him that the man with the red scarf didn't exist, and he eventually said ''Must have been dreaming...'' Like father like daughter, I guess :P
One time I had a dream when I was in junior high about making a hotdog omelette. the next morning I proceed to make one and my dad asked what I was doing. I told him I was making a hotdog omelette. Apparently he made the same thing at 1:30 in the morning when he got home from work.
I still dream about working as a cashier from my days at Superstore. They are always the same. I decide to go back there to earn extra money and then I get a huge line-up because I can't remember my sign in code. It has been over 10 years since I worked there.
