fat insulates. it honestly does. i get this crazy experience every winter while bike commuting, where i can physically feel it if i grab a handful of bum or hip fat. what i'm holding will be physically cold to the touch, yet to myself, underneath that layer, i'm feeling perfectly warm.

1. I wish someone would have told me that even if you have an ideal weight in mind people close to you might feel "It's too skinny".. Even if they say you look slimmer.
2. Nobody tells you that you have to warn people close to you whom you haven't seen you in months about your weight loss.. Seriously it's a thing otherwise they're shocked to the core and they make a huge fuss about it( Unless they knew before you were trying to lose weight).
Also I wish someone would have warned me about what happens when you become 40 pounds overweight from your BMI. People aren't as nice to you and are rude for the most part. Also you look older if you are overweight and your skin stretches out.

Because you get boney. Your knees get knobbly and get uncomfortable when you sleep on your side, you may find your pillow is too high, your hips dig in to the mattress, and the mattress might feel way too hard for you since you sink into it less.

that you may look in the mirror and not look any different to you...even though you have gone down many sizes. that you see the difference in the before and no pics side by side but looking in the mirror you still see the before.
I hope it just takes time for the brain to catch up??18 -
Nobody tells you that if you sit longer than 10 minutes, your legs go to sleep and that you won't recognize yourself in the mirror...that reflection just isn't you for a while8

I'm experiencing this too. I see it in pictures. I feel it. But I can't yet really see it in the mirror5 -
That you might wind up president of the itty bitty titty committee...

Someone says you're a delicate thing and you look around thinking "me?"22

#2 I have dealt with for sure. I hadn't seen my mother-in-law in about 6 months. When I walked in she almost started to yell at my husband for cheating on me and bringing some strange woman into her home.40 -
No one told me that although your clothes become smaller, you won't necessarily have more space in your closet, since you might end up with over a drawers worth of work out clothes and gear...33

Right there with you! I've lost almost 60 lbs, but look in the mirror and see no progress. I see it in pictures, I see the smaller clothes, I feel like I take up a whole lot less space, but I don't see it in the mirror!13 -

I would sell my left ovary to be back in that club. I didn't even get that much larger - 34A/small B @ 142 to a 39 C @ 238 - but boy is it uncomfortable enough after 34 years of being perfectly fine owning small breasts. And annoying. Especially since I was expecting to be back to a B by 200 lbs, as usual, and it hasn't happened this time around. Not happy. While I'm perfectly fine with saggy A's, I don't want to get stuck with saggy breasts larger than that.5 -
I don't know if this happened with anyone else, but I feel gross after I eat a bunch of raw vegetables. I did some reading online and it gets worse before it gets better. I feel queasy when I eat healthy because I went in full force and cut out all junk which was a shock to my body and it had to get used to working harder for digestion. It is only supposed to last for a week or two. It won't be forever! I am also having major breakouts which is not the norm for me, but it is because of my change in diet. I poop every time I finish eating. It's like my body is making room for the new grub. My roommate eats super healthy and she told me that she can go a day or two without pooping. That sounded outrageous to me but it makes sense because poop is waste after all and how much waste does she have to offer, really, her body uses most of the food she eats for fuel. I don't mean to sound negative! I just didn't have knowledge of these things! Also, try to force yourself to eat certain healthy foods that may not appeal to you. Your tastebuds will change. I never thought I would crave a carrot over a chocolate bar or popcorn, but I did because I would munch on one after my nightly walk and it became a routine. You will crave the foods that are better for you if you give it enough time. To prevent feeling crummy when you eat healthy though, start a little at a time. You shouldn't cut out all junk or you'll get the yucky feeling. And lastly, my advice is to drink water or put fruit in water to make it taste less plain. Don't drink your calories! You'd be amazed at how fast you can go over your calorie limit just from drinking juices, pop, or alcohol. It is so discouraging when you go over your calorie goal and everyone should know that we have all done it or continue to do it. It is a journey and you are a working progress!17

Also, if you start jogging or running you will pass gas during and afterwards. That bumhole becomes a loose cannon.36

What nobody told me about losing weight?
Nobody told me that after losing 46kg all my dreams wouldn't instantly come true, that I wouldn't have the perfect body or a wardrobe full of incredible fashion items and accessories! Nobody told me I wouldn't acquire better taste in clothes, or that people who opted not to speak to me for years because I was obese would now not speak to me because I am of normal size.
What they also failed to tell me was this. Although my body is certainly not perfect, I have found the energy and courage to go out and chase my dreams, ticking things off my bucket list I never thought possible. My wardrobe is suddenly a blank slate that I can fill with things I like and not just those that fit. They didn't tell me I don't have to be a supermodel wearing all the latest trends because today my self confidence and smile makes me look good in most things I wear. And as for those who chose not to engage with me socially, I have finally realised that you cannot please everyone. As long as I'm there for those I love, I have chosen to let it go xx83 -
I've been bouncing around the same 2-3 pounds for the last month or so. It's my own fault as I've been nibbling here and there, not exercising as much and not logging as well as I could. The scary part about this though is that if I'm pretty much maintaining my weight at this level of calories/exercise, this is maintenance and this is how I would need to live in order to not gain back the 55 pounds I've lost.
This is the first time I've made it somewhat close to a weight I would consider maintaining. I had some vision in my head that I would be able to eat way more in maintenance. Nope, it's really just like when I was losing with a few small 'extras' here and there.
Not sure I was prepared for that!43 -
Nobody tells you, when you have tipped the scale at 367 and aged to your 51st year, that even though you now weigh what you did when you were 26, your body doesn't all go back the way it was...
And that you will LOVE every saggy, flabby gross moment, because it means you are that much closer to a goal you have been working on for a long time.43 -
Just because the clothes now fit doesn't mean they all look good on you. Style counts not just covering the body.27

When you do jumping jacks your loose skin "flaps", but hey YOU'RE DOING JUMPING JACKS!42

That's applicable to ANY size!!7 -

The fact that working out makes you feel better about your body, even if you don't look any different (yet). Like "Oooo my abs are so sore. I feel so skinny!"42

Right, but I was just happy to have something that fit and now I care about how it looks.7 -
No one told me your boobs get smaller.
No one told me you need to eat more to shock your metabolism.11
