What nobody tells you about losing weight

It's the negativity/jealousy/sabotage attempts from others that always gets me.
Without fail, every time I have been in a period of weight loss, there has been someone who tries to offer me loads of treats all of a sudden, or tells me I don't need to lose weight, I'm getting too skinny etc etc. I've only just moved from obese BMI to overweight BMI, I am in no danger of getting too skinny anytime soon!!
Comes from a range of sexes, and sizes too, so I can't even say it's just one set group of people that do it.25 -
I can put my keys in the front pocket of my jeans without it looking like I've tried to stuff a watermelon in a sandwich baggie. And they're easy to get back out!26

I am finding that I have pretty much lost most of the fat in my booty - and now it hurts to sit. Think I might need to start carrying a pillow.

How exciting it is to get your lab reports and vitals back:
when your BMI gets closer to the normal range
when your good cholesterol goes up and the bad cholesterol goes down
how much easier a workout is to complete without the weight you had when you began
It's kinda getting a report card that is something to show how hard you have worked and that you can have control over those things.23 -
Ive lost 166 lbs. I look like a Sharpei.
Lost mega weight previously, only to regain.... but this is first time skin elasticity didnt return. Aging plays some cruel jokes.

Or for sun protection. As a redhead, I can't wear a typical swimsuit without becoming a crispy critter. I like the Modest Sea brand. My suit is like a minidress with leggings.

There’s a tiny, elderly woman at the Y who tells me I’m growing every time I see her. I’m 5’10” and 47 y.o.
Your posture has probably improved.6 -
I have nobely knees and elbows! I can actually feel the bones there :-D7

So I have been trying to lose weight for a really long time.... like really long. I am 5'5 and in September 2017 I weighed 187 and right before the holidays I weighed 167 and went home for break. My family told me how great I looked and I used it as an excuse to quit/ take a break instead of using it as motivation to continue. I finally weighed myself again at the beginning of March and weighed 176 and I was so upset with myself. I have done this in the past as well so sometimes I wished people didn't say anything because it is too tempting to want to stop.18

That's the thing about weight loss, you never stop managing your food even when you reach your goal. Taking a break is perfectly normal, even good, but doesn't mean free for all. You set your calories to maintenance and avoid going over them as much as possible. Try it next time you are tempted to stop, it will feel great!15 -
How much blimmin’ laundry I have to do now. Gym gear, gym towels, extra underwear washes because of changing after gym, aaargh, the washing machine never stops!36

Haha, this is too true! Just for me I have to do a load every day (not counting for my other family members). People think I am crazy for having to wash a load every day just for me.8 -

Remember, in a running race and you see the tape....you don't...slow...down! You'd be surprised how many novice runners get near the goal and are so relieved they actually slow down and lose the race.27 -
I can’t believe how cold I am.
I used to be permanently warm, with a flushed complexion. Now I have to wear layers, and I’ve still go quite a bit of weight to lose.13 -

It can happen if you're doing low carb or if your calories are low.8 -

IMO, Bad breath Is usually just bacteria buildup for a variety of possible reasons.
Swish well with salt water morning and evening, brush and floss and there is not bad breath.
I’ve done those low carb and various versions and even complete water fasts.
If u stay hydrated and continue diligent oral care you should be fine.
Of course, not eating a bunch of garlic helps! That’s just common sense
But according to my dentist, healthy does not create bad breath.10 -

Some people do experience worse breath on low carb and low cal. I don't do low carb now, but when I did I had worse morning breath despite my dental hygiene not changing, and that went away as soon as I re-introduced carbs. I still fast and semi-fast sometimes and I notice my breath is worse on mornings after a fast, which goes away as soon as I'm back to normal intake. I'm just one of the unlucky I guess.5 -
That you dont have to restrict everything you like to indulge in, just make your calories count.19

Is it possible that you might just have less active saliva glands so bacteria are getting to hang around longer thereby multiplying exponentially over hours u would usually wash them away with a meal?

Bad breath is often assiciated with ketosis, which is a consequence of low carb. Ketones are formed due to the biochemical pathways Main one is Acetone that your body then produces7 -
What nobody tells you is that it may becoem hard to adjust your office seat down.
We have an office with flex lay out meaning I don;t have my own deks and have to adjust the seat daily.
I don't have enough weight to get it down whilst also bending over to pull the lever. So I have to sit on my knees bum upward (and akward) to get my seat to the right height12 -
I'm cold... and this may be TMI... but intercourse... a) it's bony now... and b) finding it harder to climax!!!! lol On the plus side of that though is my libido is through the roof (might be my bf is just super hot though?) hahaha!21

- Everyone has to put in their two cents on how you lost the weight..
- Plus side, being able to cross my legs comfortably lol12 -
That people will say you lost weight "wrong", and tell you that you really needed to do Weight Watchers. Yeah, right. Hey, buddy, I reached my goal weight and you haven't.32

Interesting! I have measurably less plaque when I eat low carb vs. a diet that is not. I have to brush/floss twice a day if I eat more than 100-150ish grams of carbohydrates/day due to more pellicle deposition on my enamel in response to the acids produced after consuming carbs. If I eat below that level, I have less pellicle formed so less plaque which translates into brushing/flossing only once a day to maintain the level of oral health I am accustomed to.
Learning differences exist from my experience, I think it is definitely multifactorial in nature how any one person's oral health responds to changes in diet. Thanks for the tip off as otherwise I would have never given any thought to the subject!9 -
