What nobody tells you about losing weight

Have I mentioned the neverending laundry before? Because I'd like to mention it again!

^Ditto on this. I'm actually contemplating buying a few more pairs of leggings because of this:)4 -
Oh yes, the laundry. My OH and I both cycle commute to work (at this time of year that involves lots of layers). We then change into an entirely different set of kit for indoor workouts. The washing machine is on constantly!10

And on a related note, no one told me I would become workout clothes obsessed. I generally do a hot mat class in the morning and again in the evening so change workout gear twice a day. I have this insane fear all the good workout clothes will stop being made and I’ll run out, so I always try to stay “ahead” by stocking up.
It actually did happen with Target’s Champion brand. 😢 I don’t care for the replacement line.

Logically, I understand it, as my body composition is different. Lots more skin, fat is probably distributed differently, might be a difference in total muscle/muscle size... but Oh. My. Goodness. It is such a frustrating point to be at the approximate weight of when I graduated high school over 20 years ago and being nowhere close to fitting those clothes yet (I still have a small collection stored away).
I feel that this is why it's so important not to compare, not to anyone else and not to past versions of yourself either. And why they say to get rid of clothes that don't fit you. You should be clothing the body you have, not trying to find the body for your clothes. Just be the best you possible now.19 -

This afternoon, I am emboldened by you guys to pull out the amazing legging set with crop top that I bought on Black Friday, and have been afraid to wear. I have not shown my belly since my bikini failed at band camp, summer of.....erm.....1978.
I've scheduled two hot classes this evening.
What no one told me was that I would be so stinking nervous at the thought of showing my very admittedly imperfect, middle aged, poochy, round, overflowing, loose skinned like droopy knee-high support hose on a ninety year old woman, pot belly for the first time in over forty years that I would get nauseous and my palms would sweat. However, I am determined to TAKE BACK MY STOMACH AND MAKE IT MY OWN AGAIN!!!!!!
I am forcing myself not to take a backup shirt.
And, @kenyonhaff, muse upon their greatness. The bottoms are a coral, seaweed and fish fantasy, and the top is a giant octopus staring out from my boobs. Who's an amateur now, baby?
WTF am I thinking?39 -
That NOT moving will start to hurt your body!
I ended up taking an inadvertent break from running (vacation, illness, just being busy) and I woke up one night in discomfort because my hips and back just felt achy and weird and slightly tight. Went for a run the next day and BAM no pain and slept like a baby!25 -

You're thinking you are an adult and you can wear it if you want to! The top and bottom sound awesome and fun!11 -
Hairstyles that I thought looked "messy" at a higher weight now look "thoughtfully tousled", potentially because I have a jawline to frame it.19

I walked in, told the other ladies I was there to reclaim my belly, and asked the instructor to take a pic. Yes, that woman behind me IS applauding. No, the one guy in the class isn’t in the picture and god bless him, he kept a straight face when I made my loud and proud announcement.
I didn’t even CARE when it started riding way up, and my roll flopped over the waistband. No one was staring, no one even gave a *****. It’s all been in MY head. This is such a breakthrough it really belongs in NSVs, lol.
ETA stars. What happened to kittens?!

I absolutely LOVE your outfit!6 -
@springlering62, I love it!!!! All those ladies behind you look so happy and proud of you!7

That you start looking in the mirror properly. I don't know how many years I have only been looking at my neck upwards and thinking "not bad". I suddenly realised I look at all of me and now think "a way to go yet".
Totally with @GummiMundi - accept it, don't ignore it

OOOOOOOHHHHHHH I COVET YOUR OCTOPUS YOGA GEAR!!!!! I like you. Can we go to hot yoga together? I have yoga with goldfish scales on them to match the "Under the Sea" theme!12 -
What nobody tells you: Some old habits aren't actually broken just stopped by physics.
I put both legs on my office chair with me today to get comfortable, this not a professional look. I thought I had matured out of my need to use office furniture in way it was not intended for, well I was wrong. I just didn't fit anymore. I am pretty excited about the development even if I have gotten a few odd looks from co-workers. Pretzel style on my office chair is just how today is going to go!16 -
Shoes. Today my shoes have been trying to fall off my feet as I walk round the office. I seem to have lost the bit of fat that made them fit properly.14

I lost fat in my feet too! Who knew it'd be enough to mess with shoe fit.7 -
@kenyonhaff
I’m up for hot yoga, any time, anywhere. Look me up if you’re ever in Atlanta!
PS: check out YogaDemocracy.com. I feel like I’ve earned some good gear, but I do wait for sales or clearance. TJMaxx also has K-deer on their website right now. Search “sneaker length leggings”. They’ve got some for a fraction of what they go for on their website, Warning: the black and blue zebra stripe leggings have a bit of a see thru butt. The other styles don’t.3 -

Yes! I used to be a size 7 EEEE+ fit, and had to buy men's trainers for the extra width. Now I am a size 6 normal fit and don't even need wide trainers.11 -

I'm about 45 minutes from the Canadian border...I think any yoga in your neck of the woods would be hot yoga for me!
Like the YogaDemocracy leggings! Not in my price range, though!0 -

This gives me hope. I'm a 10 wide and have to buy men's shoes, and it would be lovely to drop to a nine and regular width. That, combined with the hope that my arthritis can tolerate heels if I weigh half as much, makes the concept of a shoe collection possible.

When I was 40 I had lost so much weight and not for a good reason. I went into a department store and asked if size 6 was the smallest size they had. When the lady said yes, I asked her where do people go to buy clothes smaller than size 6. She told me to try Forever 21, I just laughed and walked away.5

I'd actually want to go to the Secretary of State to get my license renewed so I can get a new picture. Fortunately it was remarkably empty today, I only had to wait ten minutes. Got my enhanced license too so I can more easily do Canadian things.11

@theleadmare, yes, losing weight does make wearing heels easier. Fewer pounds per square inch. My post with the most # of "disagrees" was in this thread when I said "You can wear high heels all day without your feet crying out in pain". Apparently that isn't true for everyone, but for me it's made a huge difference! Now I can wear my Fluevogs all day every day. It's a treat.10

It made a huge difference for me too, although it was largely because I have a bad left knee and it would die when I wore heels too long. Now it's no issue at all. I think my penchant for wedges has also helped, though. I have a pair of four-inch wedges that I adore and can't wait to wear again in spring.8 -
@RelCanonical , I'm curious if you still put a "fake weight" on your license now that you are where you want to be?1

I wouldn't say 'all day', but I've definitely noticed that my feet are less sore after a few hours on my feet wearing heels (receptions,...). A welcome surprise!4 -

I don't think I've ever put a fake weight, haha. Michigan doesn't list the weight on the license anyway.2 -

I am lower then what my driver license says now and very proud of my progress even though I still have a way to go!
I was pretty close to the weight it says when I got the license. However, I was happy I did not have to renew it in the mean time, I did not want to admit how much I had gained. It's due for renewal in just a few months and I going to work hard so I can put my goal weight down and not lie for too long12
