Count me in as one of the two spaces people as well as someone who detests cilantro!

Loved the best surprise ever...the video was so funny

Did an hour of Jari Love's Ripped 1000 DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do Jillian Michael's Burn Fat Boost Metabolism DVD. After exercising went to the dentist for the routine cleaning.

Volunteer at the Green Room tomorrow. Vince actually asked me earlier "are we going to go to ceramics?". That's something. I don't have a problem, if we do hopefully we can stop at Lowes Foods since his cereal is on sale and I have coupons.

    - I was just sorry that I didn't buy that sweater on Monday and get the extra 25% off. A lot of stores will accept coupons that have expired as long as they have expired within something like the last 4 days. To me, this is reasonable. JCPenney asked me to take a survey and I told them about this. I honestly doubt anything will come of it. I remember that as a kid my grandmother wouldn not come watch TV with me in the living room if I was watching "Hogan's Heroes". It took me a while to realize it was because she lived under the Nazi regime. Even tho HH was making fun of the Nazi's, she couldn't bear to even look at that swaztika (?sp) Good luck at those meetings

    - when FIL was sick, his routine was get up, go to dialysis, take a pain pill, lay down, get up, have lunch, take a pain pill, lay down, get up, have dinner, take a pain pill, lay down. I told him that he needs to be walking, even if it's just around the living room. I was told in no uncertain terms "I don't want to discuss exercise with you". Then his doctor said the exact same thing to him. Suddenly he was walking around his block. But too late, his muscles atrophied. Good for you encouraging people to keep moving!

    - SCORE!!!!

    - for most everything, I can pretty well estimate my heartrate. But in spinning it is just so very easy for me to go over my heartrate that I need to wear it. One bad thing is that my heartrate comes down so so fast. I know that's a good thing, but one minute I can be in the 140's and a few seconds later I'm in the 120's.

I really wish more people had their diaries open, especially those who are maintaining. I'm looking for ideas of things to drink that aren't bad in the caloire etc dept. but it seems that so many people have their diaries closed. Is yours? Would you considering opening it?

katla - you are such a good friend to your neighbor. A win/win situation all around

Mary - years ago when my kids had the chickenpox they were kind enough to share them with dh! He still has a scar on his face as evidence. I must have had them when I was very little because I never got them from the kids. What I especially like about that buy of the sweater is that I saw it when we were in FL and there was no way I was going to pay that much. I was so thrilled to find it marked down up here. One thing I didn't see, and this I'm surprised at, was that there weren't any shorts out

    Joyce
    - 38 longs...ROTF

Cynthia - you definitely deserve better treatment.

terri - how awful for your daughter! Great for you starting holding your plank! Keep it up

toni - my praying mantis I will have to put the clear coat on and then it gets fired (for the last time). I probably should have done that today since I can't do anything else, what happens is what happens. I started on my snail. To be honest, I think he might have take a bit too much lsd....lol The bottom will be like a basketball-color and the upper part of his body will be a cinnamon-type color. Now his shell? That's going to be this yellow with orange speckles, then orange, then yellow, then back to the yellow with speckles. At first it's going to be somewhat hard since I already made one mistake and painted part that should have been orange, so I just washed (carefully) the paint off. Vince cleaned the turtle. I am undecided about the color. I know I don't want a boring old green shell. I don't know, I'm toying right now with having the shell being different shades of blue.

Alison - bad pun. When friends if ours sold their house in Rochester, they had someone come in and give them a certain amount for some of their things. I'd definitely look into it

    Vicki
    - congrats on making that appt with the dentist

Cynthia - thanks for the smile!

Lesley - I'm confused. Did the chemist say that glucosamine helped but not the addition of chondroitin? What helps especially at night?

    Hi ladies,

    I know I don't post often but I read everyone's post everyday.

Yanniejannie - sorry about your crown. Hope you can get it worked on quickly.

Heather - eagerly awaiting your book!

Allison - congrats on getting your bathroom and kitchen updated. We did our kitchen about 4 years ago and our bathrooms last year. It is a bother while they do the process but so worth it at the end. Hope you love the results. Also, good luck on the new job.

Cynthia - sorry how they are treating you at work but good for you standing up for yourself. My mom had a saying, "You may sh$t on me, but I'll be dam$ed if I let you rub it in!" When you sent that email, it reminded me of this.

Life has been hectic that last couple of days. I work for the govt. and last Thursday evening when people were leaving, we had two cars crash through one of the gates. It was a situation of a lady trying to get away from her estranged boyfriend that she had a restraining order on. The guards ran up to the cars and the man shot one of the guards and took off across the parking lot. Unfortunately, the guard died. Building was put on lockdown for several hours while several police departments, Homeland Security and the FBI searched the parking garages and the buildings. He was finally caught and after exchange of gunfire was taken into custody.

On Monday, a friend was returning from a drs. appointment and for some reason hit a telephone pole. She is in ICU in a coma with what the drs are calling 'unsurvivable injuries'. She has a head injury with bleeding from the brain stem. Asking for much prayer for her.

I am busy at work preparing for retirement on June 3rd. Exciting but a little scary to be doing this at 55 years old. I think if my DH was closer to my age I would continue to work but we want to be able to spend as much time together as possible. Illnesses with several people we know make us realize that things can change at a moments notice.

A little while ago, people were posting their height so I decided to measure myself on an automatic machine at work and I was surprised. I used to be 5'10" but it said I was 5'8.5". I don't feel any shorter.

Well, the Nationals baseball game is over so need to get busy getting the animals ready for bed.
DH has some medical tests tomorrow so will be an early morning.

I thought this was interesting. Don't know whether to believe it or not.

    http://www.refinery29.com/2015/04/85705/probiotics-effects-mental-health

I thought some of you fighting depression might want to read it. One of my new docs had recommended taking a probiotic, so I was reading about them.

    Just found another one.

Michele, I think it was you who asked me a while back, what do you do when the glazes don't turn out. The answer is..I hit them with a hammer. I hope you don't need a hammer for your praying mantis. Fingers crossed that you love it. Send us pictures!

:D :Michele, I have been maintaining for years, my diary is open, but I don't drink anything but water. I gave up coffee in 2009 when I figured out that I liked the flavored creamer more than the coffee, I drank herb tea for awhile, and then figured out that water was easier.

:D Tina in MD, I retired at age 58 and it was one of the smartest decisions I've made in my life. My darling husband and I love spending so much time together. I wish you the best in your retirement.

:D congratulations to everyone adding a plank to your workout. It is a great workout for practically your whole body. Starting at a few seconds and building up over time is the way to do it.

:D We had another meeting today to discuss what line dances we'll perform for the county fair and discovered that we can agree on many and seriously disagree on others. We did agree to not start practicing until the middle of next month since the fair isn't until August.

Exermom- I never thought about opening up my diary, but I don't drink anything creative. but water is always there. If I can figure out how to open it, I will. U will see I have the same food ALOT. Also, when I spin, I can kinda predict my heart rate even when I am not looking at it and it is great that your hr goes down so quick, we are very lucky that way. Where I can't predict it is when I ride on the road. Riding outside is COMPLETELY different than a spin bike

Michele - my diary isn't open because I'm so lazy that most of the time I just do the Quick Add Calories. I have been dieting since 1968, so I know the calorie value of EVERYTHING. If I don't, I check it out. I weigh most of my food, so it's accurate. I have to convert a lot of stuff back to ounces as over here it's mainly grams now.
For drinks I have tea (a lot ) or coffee. I never sweeten them - don't know anyone who does over here any more, even workmen! When I was a child everyone took two sugars. I have a splash of semi skimmed milk in my tea and more in my coffee, but I only have one of those a day. I dock myself 100 cals a day for the milk. Otherwise I have fizzy water which I make with a soda stream. Sometimes I put a few shakes of Angostura bitters in it, which makes it feel like a real drink. I drink plain water also. I have a Diet Coke about once a fortnight, usually if I am starving and.it's an hour to dinner. I like a slice of lemon in it and it has to be really cold. I also like a drink I call Southampton Mocktail. It is half a fresh lime squeezed into a chunky whisky glass, a few drops of Angostura bitters to taste and topped up with cold diet tonic. Ice if available. That DOES feel like a drink and no calories. I love it! Of course, I normally have one alcoholic drink a day at 6pm. Pastis (like Pernod) is my drink of choice, in a long glass with lots of cold water. MFP gives me 70 calories for 50 mls. It's an acquired taste, but you get a nice long and potent drink for your cals. , , , , , ,

I have a ton to read, and no time, but had to check in - some of you know I have been fighting my own demons, with relationships/friends/family, well after a tough week, today's visit with my counselor left me with homework, which I started and had a major break through, and while not ready to go in to all the details, suffice it to say, I feel 100% better, and know I am turning a corner... there are more corners ahead (that's life!) but my mostly glass 1/2 full feeling is back...

Cynthia, sorry you had such a bad meeting. Glad you stood up for yourself. They may have been other people who wanted to say the same thing you did but only you had courage to say it. Sounds like you need a pedicure, manicure or a massage. Or a day playing with puppies or kittens would do!

Janet, oh Janet, you don't want to smoke on that freshly shampoed carpet. You can do it my friend!!!

Katla, our college doctor was awful also. At the beginning of the school year we all had to report for our 'physical'. So we went in masse to the infirmary. We would time the amount of time he took, the heavy, chunky ,not so nice looking girls were hardly seen, us decent looking young ladies got about a minute. But the good looking ones!!!! He would listen to the lungs, feel the thyriod from behind and then run his hand down your spine. That was it.

Sylvia, those precious grand kids probably knew exactly what was going on, they just decided to hide it all. No telling what all is going on in their minds. Do they know the extent and eventual prognosis of their Dad's condition? Think what it is like for them at their young age to bear that burden.

Pip, where did you live in Indiana, and when?

MNMargaret, I would love to watch college hunks!!!! I hope that is what you meant! Fun!!!!!

Terri Milwaukee, I had a friend that had a daughter Michelle's age. The girls grew up from Kindgarten on through graduation from high school. She said that a multisport child was more intelligent, more driven, better grades, was more grounded. I don't think it helped with my daughter at all. My two girls although they love each other so much and I love to see them interact as adults were 2 polar opposites in school. Where Christina was into anything regarding the arts such as drama, musicals, multiple choirs, Michelle was into sports, basketball, soft ball and volley ball.

Allison, have you looked into an estate sale for just the things that are in the drawers and cabinets? Those auctions are nice

MNinMD, do you frequently stand upside down on your porch and take pictures??? It lookes pretty but hurts my neck.

Tina, seems like you are having a very challenging bad week. Yes, prayers are heading you way.

Charlie may actually be willing to think about the consequences of what he eats now with this colitis. He had a big stinky, semi soft stool tonight and was he was sitting there he was having think through everything he had eaten today. We hadn't been to Old Chicago in a long time. I eat a tavern style (thin crust) with just cheese and onions on it. It's about 600 calories. I was over on sodium for the day but my doctor wants me to take extra sodium so I dind't worry. But Charlie ordered a deep dish, extra cheese, extra sauce sausage pizza. He ordered what he thought would be a small. Well it was 13 inch which is a medium. He ate half of it and was going to take another slice this evening. So I keyed it into Old Chicago's nutrition calculator. His 6 pieces, and he only ate 3 was almost 4000 calories and sky high on fat, sodium and carbohydrates. I know that he is going to get up tomorrow for lunch and halve the other half. He said I am to blame because I wanted to go their. I just told him that I made a semi healthy choice and he didn't. I did not make him order that huge pizza.

His new doctor did finally change his order for his ulcerative colitis to one we could afford. So his co-pay was $45 and I saw on the paper work that insurance had to pick up almost $500. So, so glad we have insurance. He will be looking into another health insurance when the new enrollment period comes.

Okay, have made it to page 23 tonight. Maybe I will catch up over the next few days.
First of all I want to thank everyone for their support and and encouragement. This group is definitely a blessing in my life.

Pip - Thanks for making me laugh but I'm hoping I won't have to take you up on that offer.

MNMargaret- That is such a sad story about your former student. I hope that young girl learns that there is a better way.

Sylvia - I hope you find the right doctor. It is difficult when your doctor retires. This guy doesn't sound like a good fit at all.

Naiomi - Thanks for the book suggestion.

Heather - You wrote your truth so if someone is offended that will be their problem.
The cheque must have such a nice surprise.

Beth- Your chicken breast sounds scrumptious. My mouth is watering.

Rita - 90 Days is a land mark. One Day at a Time. Is he working a program?

Counselling on Monday. Learning how to fight properly is exhausting. I'm glad DH showed. I did have to wonder who the man in the office was because it isn't who I deal with at home. We did have a couple of laughs though. I'm trying for more of that.
Tuesday, I had the specialist. More pills. Sometimes I feel like they are just experimenting. Take these and see if it helps. No? Try these then. No? Well, we can try this. They have booked a pelvic ultrasound. Waiting for a date for the endoscopy. Couldn't we have skipped some of this and got an endoscopy last summer? Then an appointment with my weight loss nurse. I like her but think I did better with the last one.
I've been trying to cook at home as possible. I've been feeling exhausted lately so when DS offered to pick something up I didn't say no. Fried chicken is not the best choice but I did remove the batter.
The drama continues with HER but my DGD will be going to daycare starting on May 1st. SHE finally agreed to a daycare. Kind of funny that after refusing 6 day cares, she finally settled on my DS's top pick from before. People are funny.
Thank you all for being here

The chemist said the glucosamine would help my knees, but takes a few weeks. Addition of condroitin no help and twice the price of just glucosamine.
My knees are feeling better at night after just a week

    Oh ladies, I love you all! Sharon - more hugs! ! ! ! !♥♡♥♡♥♡♥♡♥♡♥♡♥

Today I had you on my shoulders when I ALMOST didn't finish all my exercises. DH was setting off in the car, his sister was ringing up asking him to bring stuff, my calves were sore from yesterday's walk and I felt like "sciving off" as we say in London. But I didn't! :drinker: I did the whole 600 cals including 20 full push ups. o:) I will text my yoga friend to see if she wants to walk with me tomorrow morning. I bet she won't, but you never know.

I was reading on the createspace forum that one way to publicise your book is to have bookmarks printed. I will look into that. They are the kind of thing you can leave in libraries, pubs, community centres etc. I have one from a museum that I can use as a template. Maybe I can print some myself, but printer ink is soooooo expensive it's probably better to get it done professionally on line.

I'm going to make my Prawn Curry Laksa soup for lunch, using shiritaki noodles. The most fattening thing in it is the coconut cream, but I only use 100 cals worth. Tonight I'm going to make my green veg curry. I PROMISE I will only have one alcoholic drink. o:)

Kim - so glad things are turning the corner. I expect there will be a few more bends in the road, but at least you now have a marker. :flowerforyou: You deserve a happy life.

I am going to go back in time~when did I ever figure I would be in my 55th year, when we used to get together in long summers with cousins..aunt,uncles, go to our grandparents for dinner.. make homemade peach ice cream on the front porch of the cottage. go to Wells ,Maine to the farm and have birthday parties.. those times will never ever come again.. our childhood, came with some disadvantages, but we didn't know it at the time .until we ourselves became adults, lived through heartache ,sickness and death, our children grew up and had children of there own. and now we are the grandparents..Where did the time go? in the blink of an eye.. it went.. look forward to the future.. just wish my family were closer so that we could spend quality time again.. SAVOR the time when you have it, peepers in the springtime, fireflies and crickets in the summer , the laugh of a child.the singing of the birds.. Life is to short my friends make the best of it , make your family and friends proud.. learn from your mistakes and try to not make them again..I have learned one thing.. that nothing and I mean nothing is worth more than your health, family and friends.. God Bless us one and all!!!
this is what I wrote on facebook..

Heather, be sure to look at reviews when you choose a printer online. I made that mistake when I wanted to print the poster I made with the kids' empty bowls. I saw a company online called Overnight Prints, and they had a great price, so I ordered. A month later I received my prints and they were all messed up. The text was all squished together, not the same font at all, and completely unreadable. The company at first said that was the way I sent it in, then they said their computer "corrected" my design because they don't have that font, but it is within "tolerances". After I kept complaining they said I could return them for a refund, or keep them for a 50% discount on my next order. I'm still waiting for my refund. But if I had looked at their reviews on Yelp first, I would never have ordered from them. Their reviews were horrible! A LOT of people had identical problems with them. In the end, I had them printed at the printing office at the local college. They did a great job and I had them in two days.

Joyce, yes the kids know what's happening. They seem to be taking it in stride, but I worry.

I slept better last night. Not even one trip to the bathroom.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Sylvia
