My absolute favourite icecream is Tip Top Lemon Luscious yoghurt Ice cream, so creamy and yummy and half the calories.
Dont know where you live so you may not have access to Tip Top, so just try a yoghurt one if you can?
Or just have it, weigh it and log it.
Cant go without all the time.

I buy those little tiny Ben and Jerry's cups.

The portion control is worth the premium to me - and honestly - I get about the same number of servings from $6 of those as I would have from a $6 pint.

I also like plain old ice cream sandwiches - again great portion control - and 150 calories each.

Walls Solero Exotic, & berry blast have 94cals & are making me drool thinking about them now
  • I avoid all artificial sweeteners and am also vegan. I know many people are leery of "fake" icecreams, but I really love icecreams made from coconut milk. It is still high in sugar and fat, but coconut fat is one of the "good fats". Plus there is no cholesterol involved. I strongly suggest staying away from "so delicious" soy icecream because it just tastes terrible (the cookie dough flavor tasted like dig treats smell!) but I have always enjoyed Coconut Dream in chocolate peanut butter!

Buy a food scale that had digital gram weight and measure out a serving of ice cream. All ice cream brands provide the serving size in grams in parentheses.

Eat what you like and weigh it.

a scale is really the only way to accurately measure ice cream. companies inject air into it, so any sort of volume or cude wooden rules device would be highly inaccurate.

That being said. I couldn't find americone dream, so I got some Greek vanilla yogurt. It was epic. except I ate about 5 serving of it today. and I didn't even care.

Ice cubes. If you feel extra naughty, you could make ice cubes of lemon water.

    150 calories worth of misery.
  • One scoop of italian ice cream from an ice cream shop is 90 calories.
Two scoops of sorbet ice cream is 100..
At least, last time i checked.

Blue Bell has basic flavors (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) in a "No Sugar Added" format.
Also, several flavors (cookies n cream is my fave) in a 'light' format.
So, you can submit to cravings with not too much damage, calorie-wise.

I like Enlightened bars. they are less sweet than regular ice cream but nice and creamy tasting. http://www.eatenlightened.com

Frozen bananas taste a sort of like ice cream. (peel before you freeze)

As a lower calorie alternative to sorbet, try frozen melon cubes or grapes.

A bit of real ice cream is not bad, as long as you keep the portions small and within your macro goals.

I eat a bowl of bluebell vanilla 3 or 4 times a week. With chocolate syrup too.

I am so jealous! We don't have Blue Bell here in Cali. But whenever I go to Texas, I get some Homemade Vanilla! That's some good eating right there!

Available here in Alabama...I buy the package of homemade vanilla cups - and have 1 every day...throw on a few strawberries and it feels absolutely decadent :)

I respectfully disagree. Arctic Zero was my staple dessert treat while I was losing weight, and I continue to eat it during maintenance. I'm not going to say that it's the most amazing ice cream in the world, but some of the flavors are quite good. Vanilla is probably the tastiest, but I also like their chocolate when topped with a couple of tablespoons of PB2. It's a close enough simulation of the Haagen Daaz chocolate peanut butter that I used to buy and eat way too much of. For me, I need to stay away from real ice cream, as it was one of the main foods where my control went out the window. For others who might be like me or who just prefer to keep their dessert calories super low, AZ might be a good option.

Try rice milk ice cream, they're lower in calories and healthier. Most use agave syrup instead of yucky sugar and they're much lower in fat.

Personally I try to stick to the ones that are ready portioned for you so you know how many calories you are eating instead of sneaking that extra 1/2 a spoon here or there!

Arctic Zero lets you eat a whole pint for 150 calories!!! I've always wanted to try it but I'm stuck in Australaia...and it's not as creamy as normal ice cream though.

Sorbet is always amazing. Just freeze fruit and blend!

My advice would be to not buy the "light" varieties of ice cream, cuz they always have more sugar and therefore are waaay more addictive. Just have 1-2 scoops of gourmet ice cream if you must. xxx
