Sylvia, your husband sounds so sweet. The tie was such a nice tribute to his friend.
Chris in MA0 -
Did 1-1/4 hr of Jeanette Jenkins 21 Day Total Body Circuit DVD (yes Lesley, I did circuits A and . The plan for tomorrow is to go to water aerobics.
Lillian - totally awesome stats! Still snowing????
Janet - Vince just went to get a water sample. He said the water in the spa, while cloudy, is no longer green. He wants me to get in it (not that I'll have any problem doing that) and wipe down the walls and seats. "one more bottle of bleach in the pool....one more bottle of bleach". We're supposed to go to lunch with the Newcomers and while we're out we want to go to Aldi and buy -- you guessed it -- 3 more cases of bleach. Congrats on the loss
Mary from MN - how wonderful that they came up on the price of the house! How I hope you get under contract. No, we didn't have a bidding war for the house. Actually, they just had an open house (we were in NC at the time). The realtor made any "upgrades" that needed to be done then had an open house. At the open house, someone made an offer for MORE. We were shocked, to say the least, but also happy since by then we were living in the house in NC so we were paying two mortgages.
katla - how I wish Vince would eat most foods. I love to try new recipes but so many I find I say "Vince won't eat this" "Vince won't eat that" I look to see if I can somehow modify the recipe so that he will eat it
Becca - If I were going to TOPS, I would probably want to have a "weighing in" outfit, too. Weight can fluctuate so much depending on the amount of clothing you have on.
Selena - if your hubby doesn't have a relative that lives in Indiana, perhaps he has one that lives in NC? Or even VA, or PA for that matter
Lisa from W. TX - congrats on the book. I have to go check it out. Boo hoo hoo...I don't own a kindle. And neither does dh. But the synopsis sounds so interesting
Beth - sending good thoughts to Laura
jane - hope everyhting goes well for your dil. Update: glad she came out of it well
Lisa - you live in beautiful country
annr - what a healthy outlook you have. I so enjoyed reading about it.
pip - happy birthday Floyd
Judith - welcome! Tell us more about yourself
terri - many times I replace the oil called for in brownies and cakes with equal amount of silken tofu. Tofu doesn't have a flavor and takes on the flavor of what it's combined with. Since it's the silken, Vince doesn't know it's there. He is the most pickeyest eater on the face of the earth. If I put peas in something, he picks each and every pea out (like a two year old). The ONLY vegetables he'll eat is corn and carrots. I do give him romaine lettuce with tomatoes. No warm tomatoes for him except for pizza sauce. No melted cheese except on pizza or in ziti, or lasagna. I take zucchini and mince it REALLY fine in the food procesor, if he can't see it he doesn't know it's there. One time I left the zucchini in the food processor too long. I was making a chocolate zucchini bread. Well, you couldn't see the zucchini so I just asked him if he'd eat the chocolate bread. He ate the whole thing! Never thought of the seasickness bracelets for chemo, makes sense.
Alison - so sorry for your loss
Wanted to do some running around before the lunch for the Newcomers but Vince was tired and didn't want to go so we did all the running around after the lunch. Stopped at JCPenney and got some earrings and backs, I had a coupon for $10 off, then went to get Denise's graduation card since I had a $2 off coupon, went to Aldi to get more bleach, then WalMart to get some prescriptions for Vince and a few food items
Vicki - enjoy the graduation
Sylvia - when my kids were in middle school, they always had a carnival. Then something happened with the insurance and they had to cancel it. That was so sad. We were kidding the other day at ceramics how it's a full service place, you can put your body in the kiln and it gets burned up then have your ashes put into an urn....lol. Your post moved me, too
Michele in NC0 -
Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening Ladies,
Mary, I’m excited about a meet-up in Myrtle Beach. All who are for it just need to decide on a date. I don’t even care if it’s Fall of 2016, cause I love looking forward to fun things. So happy about your counter offer. That is why all offers are presented rather than just rejected with no discussion. You never know when it will turn into something. You also never know if their agent told them to start that low. Hope it works out for you!!!!
Katla, technology is great for seeing family and what’s going on. Remember when we were kids? Take a picture, then go to get it developed, a week later pick it up, then snail mail to the family. Wow have things changed in our lifetimes. Your grandson sounds adorable.
Becca, so sorry your tummy is punishing you for your gourmet lunch. Geez, sometimes we just can’t win. That is too funny that the leader wanted to mum you about your “far out” previous lifestyle. I agree, that this place is so full of motivation and inspiration. And I’m glad you have joined us…just keep yourself covered in here! LOL
Joyce, you told Selena that your daughter needs a great man like her hubby. Well I have a daughter that needs one too and I know lots of women who could use one. Those of us with great hubbies should be thankful every day cause there are some real Losers out there. OMG, Joyce, I don’t care what it looks like, I love refried beans. That is too funny, though, now that I think about it. Gee thanks! No, for sure, all the locals here don’t hate the tourists. Hell that is what keep the city going. Some complain about the added traffic but it doesn’t even bother me. I knew when I moved here that it was a tourist town so that comes with the beaches and great weather. About the weather on the cruise, it looks like we will drive through rain to Charleston, but the worst will be well north by the time we hit the seas. If it were a real hurricane, trust me, I wouldn’t step foot on the ship.
Cynthia, so glad you got some sleep. I think sleep deprivation is like torture. That is what finally got to me when I went through menopause. The rest of the things I could take, but not the lack of sleep. You feel better.
Allison, your day does sound busy. You are so good to look after everyone else. Be sure to work in something special for you. Sorry to hear that your brother is still drinking.
Lisa, congrats on completing the book. What accomplishments some of you wonderful women have had. Very impressive.
Naomi, gosh you stay busy. Are you sure you aren’t 28? I don’t know where some of you ladies get your energy?? I want some of that!
Beth, congrats on the dining room furniture. Hey if it didn’t have a single mark on it, you would be so worried about every little bump. This way, someone else broke it in for you. *smile* Just enjoy, no matter how few times you use it. So sorry about your friend and will keep her in my prayers, along with you and your sons.
Gilly, glad you enjoyed your trip.
Jane, hope all goes well with the surgery and you are able to get some rest.
Pip, your son was a beautiful puppy!!!! Yes, I did hear that it is Nat’l Bike Month. Forgive me if I don’t celebrate it any more than thinking of you.
Judith, from England, welcome. We’d love to have you join in the chat. Just talk so if you have a heavy English accent, cause some of us have a difficult time understanding. This is a very supportive group of ladies. Tell us a bit more about yourself so we can get to know you.
Heather, I’m surprised you don’t get excited about going on holiday. Gosh, I sure do. It’s just nice to go away and do something different for a few days. I do hope you have a lovely time.
Selena, I hope there wasn't too much out in your way as you were cruising the kitchen. You are too funny! But that is a good plan for those times of stress. Good luck.
Terri, I just drain our mean on a paper towel laid over a brown paper bag. It drains it pretty good. I’d just think the rinsing would remove any flavor.
Carey, I love your comment: apparently I'm not doing them properly because I think I need a nap!
Toni, I hope you stay cool during that heat wave. You too, Chris. Is your heat a dry heat or do you have humidity?
Jane, glad the surgery went well. Hope you can get some rest now.
Chris, I truly do support you in getting to any weight that is still healthy. I now measure 5’3” but still feel 5’6” so I don’t think I’ll ever get back to a size 8.
Sylvia, if my hubby knew you could make a cheap container for his ashes, he’d be calling you tomorrow. He is the same way. LOL I think that mortality thing gets to all of them/us at one time or another. That was so sweet to wear that tie to the funeral home. I hope you have a fantastic time on your trip.
Lesley, glad you are already seeing results of the lower calories.
Tomorrow is packing day for the cruise and my friend arrives tomorrow night. It looks like the storm will be north of where we are sailing, but it also looks like rain every day. Bummer. If we can’t sit out by the pool I’m afraid I’ll spend extra time in the Casino. That can’t be good.
I wish you all a happy and healthy day.
Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.
Janet

Hi Everyone,
Sylvia you described those tender moments w/your husband so vividly. Thanks.
Leatan48 Congrats on the persistence and the results.
HeatherUK Election night has always been an event. Sometimes we've been w/friend at their campaign party. Growing up my family always watched both party's conventions and waited up for the results too.
Chris size 8... No sympathy from me either.
Don't know what happened to my other comments and the rest of my post.0 -
Great fun at the carnival. One of DGD#1's friends came up to talk to her and I heard her tell her friend that I am an awesome grandma. Made my day! Lots of laughing tonight, fun petting animals at the petting zoo, sliding in a bouncy house, dunking for apples, getting faces painted, fishing for prizes, and a cake walk. And lots more I can't even remember. Boy, am I tired! They had tickets that the kids put their names on and put them in bags for specific prizes. DGS was sad that he didn't win a pound of bacon (one of the sponsors is the local bacon packing plant), so in the morning I'm stopping at the store to buy a pound of bacon as a surprise for him.
My hip is back to normal, so no pain at all. I tried out my new sandals, and they seem fine. They will be really good for the trip.
Hubby has lost his cell phone again. I called it and it rang a long time before going to voicemail, so I don't think the battery is dead. Hopefully it will turn up. It always does. It's just a cheap flip phone, so it's no great loss. I can't get him to move into the smartphone century. He prefers his dumb phone.
Vicki, I'm impressed you got a fitbit band for $4! And I've never seen one with flowers. Can you post a photo?
Pip, I just love, love, love your dog. I think it's amazing how much different goldens look full grown vs puppies. My neighbors have two goldens, and they are beautiful. One named Peyton (girl) and one named Manning (boy). Funny.
Speaking of national bike month...the man who died was an avid bike rider and active in their local organization that is creating and maintaining bike paths in their county. The family asked for donations to that fund instead of flowers, which I thought was nice. Well, Saturday he went out for his regular ride. 12 miles out, then back. There is a bench about halfway, and he always takes his lunch and sits on the bench to eat it. Someone found him on the bench, with his bike on it's kickstand, his helmet next to him, his sandwich unwrapped but uneaten, and his can of Coke next to him, unopened. He still had his sunglasses on. So, it was very sudden. The lights just suddenly went out. That's the way to go, I think. Suddenly, doing something you love. He had no history of heart trouble and no family history, so you just never know.
Annr, I'm amazed about the nudist thing. I can't even stand to see myself nude, much less strangers. My sisters in law gave me a very nice art book for Christmas one year and I took it to show a group of my potter friends. They burst out laughing when they found many of the pictures had yellow post it notes covering the naughty bits. They still tease me about it. I was raised strict Baptist, and haven't quite recovered. Kudos to you. How old were your sons? Were there many families?
Good night everyone!

Here are the jokes for today:
Visiting a genealogist, a man asked how much it would cost to have his family tree traced. "It could cost thousands of dollars," said the woman.
"I see. Well, isn't there an easier way? A less expensive way?" "Sure," she replied. "Run for president."
A guy walking down a street one afternoon passes an old man sitting on the side of the road with a large sack.
The younger guy says to the old man, "Watcha got in the sack?"
The old man responds, "I got some monkeys in that there sack."
The younger man asks, "If I guess how many monkeys you got in the sack, can I keep one?"
The old man replies, "Son, if you guess how many monkeys I got in this sack, I'll give you both of 'em!"

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers for my friend Laura. While she had to wait longer than expected for the surgery to begin, she came through with no complications. Her lymph nodes were clear. Cancer in only one breast; both removed as a precaution.

Hello, hello -
Janet - I forgot to say congrats on 50 pounds down. Have you lost all of that within a few months?
Pip - Such a cute puppy picture. Hope the BDay was great!
Lisa - I knew the ranch wasn't yours but I think of it as your little hundreds of thousands of acres place!
Becca - Neat contest idea! We only have 12 chapter members. We do monthly contests and the winner usually gets $3.00. Your prizes sound much better. Maybe I'll join your group! I do enjoy being the leader of my group. It appeals to the inner school teacher in me. Our chapter is planning a field trip to a local neighborhood farmers' market. My son and daughter in law are volunteers there every Friday from May - Oct. It is the largest neighborhood market in the city and sells only locally grown, raised, or made items. All the vendors have to sell only their own stuff. There is always a music group playing and food trucks, as well. It is a fun place to spend a Friday evening.
Sylvia - I loved the chicken/road reflections. Can't wait to share it with some of my buddies. I think I will take it to my Monday study group. These ladies will definitely get a kick out of it! ALSO - hubby is so sweet. I know what you mean about the touch being unique. My hubby is a lot like that. When my sister passed away, my oldest sister, niece and I all wore purple to her memorial service because it was her favorite color.
I am praying for those of you with hurting hearts and challenges. I hope everyone has/had a great night's sleep!

Sylvia, your thoughts about your husband, and how he is dealing with the funeral were so touching... My husband has always been the stoic, with a Navy-face on, sort. His liver transplant awoke him, his emotions and how he appreciates his life. He too wishes to be cremated, and a burial out to sea ceremony. Throughout his naval career he has been on ships where there was a scheduled burial at sea. He would shine and clean his dress uniform and honor this fallen serviceman gladly. On the other hand he admitted it was also a chore. So his choice of passing is kind of like payback... Sadly I would just be sending his ashes to the Navy and they would do all the rest. I would be getting the co-ordinates of where they put his ashes. As a Navy wife, that is abit harsh...and I will probably split his ashes and keep half. Don't get me wrong, I do not dwell on his passing...heck I just got him back from the brink of death... It is just that when you see your mate close to death so many times, it changes you.

@mollywhippet you are too funny with the post it notes!!! I choked on my water with that one. We started being a nudist family in 2002. My sons were 4, 9, and 13 yrs old. My two youngest were no problem being nude....give them a reason to tear off their clothes and run free. The 13 yr old was no problem being nude around the house and the resort was clothing optional so he could wear his shorts around the resort no problem. It was when he was in the pool area that he had to be nude. That sounds kind of strange but think of peoples bodies as artwork. Swimming suits kind of puts a large ornate frames around the "paintings". Then it is viewed as sexual. So they want to tone it down everyone is the same. It didnt help that middle son would excuse himself after older son got in the pool and grab his shorts and run to the campsite. So not only did older son have to walk from the pool to the towel..but from the towel to the campsite...Brothers!

@DamitJanit hahahaha...you are too funny with seeing me as "far out"... I have to confess that up in Oregon I don't get to be far out often, we are on the coast and the weather can be rainy, sunny, and hail all in the same day. But if I am ever nudetyping I shall never tell you all...(insert evil laugh)
@exermom I should have a weighing in outfit.... The thing is we do our laundry on Wednesdays because the laundromat has "dryers are free days" on that day. (I shall never under appreciate a washer and dryer again..ever). So on Wednesday mornings I am normally just trying to find something clean that doesn't weigh alot.... lol. I did wear some lightweight kaki shorts with a teeshort this past meeting so maybe that is why I lost? I will remember that outfit....0 -
Sorry, but need to vent to someone. Arrived home from work yesterday to the news from notDH that he had quit work that day. Apparently, he has been melting down over employee tx by management, his amount of driving (company vehicle) compared to others and uncompensated hours. Nevermind that he was fortunate to get this job 7 mos ago and we have a great deal of debt! No discussion prior. No jobhunting prior- just the proverbial here's my id, etc, etc. So today he went in to blame meltdown on me and his mother's poor health and try to make nice, and hopefully reverse all that. He will go in again on monday and talk w/his supervisor (this is a contracting co).
Pro: He has stayed sober for 2 years now.
Con: Blames, excuses, but refuses to take action/make changes regarding issues.
I was at an all day meeting today. Ate a huge piece of marble cake at lunch. Took some home. Ate it for dinner.
Back to my brussel sprouts tomorrow. It WILL BE A NEW DAY!!.

Lisa in WTX: Beautiful picture. I’m glad you got through your sticking episode on your own.
Pip: Your beautiful puppy grew up into a handsome dog.
Judith from Scarborough: Welcome
Sylvia: I agree with Terri. Your post also touched me, and I admire both you and your husband. You are both very special people. Enjoy your trip.
Michele: I’m the one in the family who has always been the picky eater. My DH will try lots of things, but I’ve had food sensitivities that limit my ability to be adventurous. It is usually me who won’t eat this or that.
Janet: I certainly remember the days of yore when we had to take our film to be developed. Add me to the list of women who are married to a very special man. I hope you have plenty of good weather during your trip and that it only rains at night.
Beth: Good news for your friend. I’m glad things went well. I hope that she handles the loss of her breasts well and doesn’t go into a slump. Having her life is so much more important. I hope they'll be able to do reconstructive surgery later on.
Annr: I weigh myself in my bedroom when alone in the same outfit I was born in. It doesn’t really matter what you choose as long as you are consistent.
It has been a good day. I went to the gym with my neighbor and worked out in the spin room while she took Zumba. Then DH and I drove to a county park along the river and had a good romp with the dog. We had dinner out with friends, and it was at a barbecue place where the food was marginally okay and the waitress was not. I’m not sure I want to return there.

3. Have fun every day.
4. Drink at least three glasses of water daily, preferably more!
5. Eliminate alcohol. Accomplished but here as a reminder.
6. Monitor sleep. Try to average 7 or more hours of sleep nightly.

Heather - I have a pan that I love and think of the friend that gave it to me. Books arrive next week!!!
Cynthia – glad mom is doing better – she needs an advocate to set that doc straight…
Sylvia – I love refried beans and get the no fat ones… they are a go to in my pantry.
Chris – I am 5’2” and would love to be a size 8 – if I get to a 12 I’ll be in 7th heaven…
Lisa H. – congrats on the book, I will get to it in time… I made a note !
Linda in CA – sending (((((((HUGS))))))))))))))
I love how all of us are so different, from clothing to food to writers to runners and everything in between. I have finally caught up, and think somewhere in the middle lost a post, as I never saw it as I read forward…. Maybe I scanned my own post and did not notice… I am just catching up and the weekend is almost here and I am doing company again! Mom is coming for Sun, Monday, Tuesday…. I am looking forward to seeing her, but am just swapped with work and am having trouble finding time for everything…
May goals:
Walk every day
Log everyday
Eat slower
Plan and do a fun thing every week
Week 1 – had a friend visit for a couple of days – went to our big second hand store (Savers) and for $23 got 3 pair of walking shoes and a pair of hiking boots – all very gently used. Score!

Tina in MD - we will find out tomorrow if we are under contract. My DH got the approval to transfer, now it is up to Texas if they want to interview him.
Selena - I need to make a plan as well. That is such a good idea.
Terri - I need to buy a phone case like you!
TNToni - yea! Great NSV, having your capris being too big! It would be nice to have a clothing exchange store.
Lisa - maybe the riding lawnmower burns calories by shaking them off! Do you remember the old strap shaker thing that you stood up in and the strap went around your waist, like that!
Jane - I'm glad that your DIL'S surgery went well! We will keep her in our prayers.
Annr - I'm surprised that kids could be in a nudist colony without it being considered pedifile type behavior.
Vicki - I hate tornadoes and thunderstorms, I was in the only tornado in mpls MN when I was a child so I am glad that you got spared.
Sylvia - very touching description of your DH love towards you! The loss of his friend is so sad.
Lesley - nice to hear that the lower calories helped you to lose!
Michele in NC - we signed the contract today. I'll be at the pool tomorrow too. I think that is one of my favorite ways to exercise.
Janet - I hope you have nice weather on your cruise, weather is so unpredictable! We really need to make a plan to meet up! MenoPals get together!
Beth - good news about your friend! We are praying for her.
Linda in California - venting is good for you! We are here for you. I hope everything works out for your family.
Katla - you sound like you have a very enjoyable relationship with your DH! I also think mine is remarkable! He's a gentleman and I love it.
Kim from California -I hope you enjoy the time with your Mom! and hopefully you will be able to relax.
Pip - your puppy grew up intoa beautiful young man!
Signed contract for house, No OtterBox, spent 2 days with DMIL, exhausted!
Have a great night everyone!

Allison, tell your Dad that one of the oldest drugs used for irregular heart beat (atrial fibrillation) is Warfarin which is actual rat poison.
Lisa, west Texas, my FIL divorced my MIL and used that date to marry his second wife just so he could remember it. Congrats on the book. I don't have a Kindle but do have a Nook, will have to check it out when it comes out on Nook. I know refried beans are blended pinto beans but it still looks like what I had to drain out of a colostomy bag, Yuck, Yes, you are in summer. We are in the high 80's here in southern Indiana. Supposed to hit 90's on Sunday. It is very unseasonably warm. Last year when I went to our local amusement park and wore my fit bit, just riding my mobility scooter up the ramps to go to the rides gave me credit for a lot of stairs climbed!!! I read your column and loved it. It sounded like some one sitting and just rambling along with their brain, not caring if anyone was listening at all. I have those ramblings a lot. And snakes are OK, you just have the right snake. My youngest daughter had an 8 foot boa and he was nice. You could actually feel his body warm up the longer he was on your lap.
Judith, welcome, join in and chat with us. Now if you cook weird things like Heather does, I will sit and look up some of the strange things you guys from UK cook on my iPad. I have learned so much by having you UKers here.
Toni, if my husband ever has an idea to go to Gatlinburgh again I will tell him your opinion of it. The only thing I enjoyed was, aside from being with all my family, being in the cabin we rented. I think it must be a requirement that all the rentals have hot tubs! It was just so nice sitting in the hot tub, another daughter fixing supper on the grill and looking at the mountains. That was OK.
Sylvia, your husband is so sweet. Do you ever loan him out to pay compliments to other women. I need one occasionaly. My husband wants to be buried in a mosoleum. He said he's to afraid to be under ground. He's to afraid to fly, to afraid to go up a ladder. He has problems. I think the two of you need to design his urn together.
Linda, California, so sorry about your day
Beth, I think when my sister had her mastectomies, the surgeon put the empty implants in at the same time. He gradually put saline in them.
I got everything I wanted to do today done except my laundry. My husband got a letter from his health insurance company the other day encouraging him to have his wellness exams done. Well if they had just done some research they would have known he had a physical in January and a colonoscopy last month. anyway, they give a $15 gift card if you schedule them. He didn't want to bother with them so he told me to choose which place to get a gift card from and I could have it. So I should get a gift card for Kohl's in about a month. When he was working and they had changed their sick day pay to short term disability, it came with a lot of paperwork. So I did it and I got the money. I also got the money when he didn't want to deal with the state giving refunds for overpaid state excise taxes on our car. Michelle is coming over tomorrow and help Charlie move our old china cainet out in the garage. Now I can have sunlight in the kitchen again!!!!
Nighty night, Joyce, Indiana0 -
Heather - hope you enjoy holiday, where in Wales are you staying. Sorry if you have said before but everything is so jumbled :-( Talking of the election, I know it is silly but I just feel so sorry for the Lib Dems.
Sylvia - That is the sort of thing I would add if I thought I was being soppy, but it is nice he is being more demonstative. Glad you and the kids enjoyed the carnival and how sweet of you to buy the bacon for DGS.
Lisa - I know you are probably used to the heat (and I suspect love it) but I tend to think about 75 is PLENTY hot enough! I agree with you about MFP's calorie burn totals. An hours swim according to a notice at the pool I go to says it burns around 400 cals but MFP gibes me 1397 cals!!!
Beth - your new dining set sounds lovely, I had a great set with 4 chairs and 2 carvers but it had to go when I moved into a flat. Now back in a house but there would not have been enough room for it :-( I hope your son is feeling better and has managed to get some sleep.
Pip - your baby is/was just gorgeous.
Jane - I know how tedious a broken wrist can be - but with a baby - ouch!!
Janet - I really think the meet up should be in 2017 just so I have another target to aim for! I would love to be half the size I am now by then and to be able to fit comfortably into the seat on a plane to come and see you all - I know - I am just SOOO SELFISH!!!
Congrats on your weight loss and if you do spend more time in the casino I hope you have a BIG gain for a change!
Katla - I am like you with weigh in's. I figure first thing in morning after shower and before I get dressed or eat anything is best.
Kim - you are so busy I don't know how you fit everything in. Wow on your footwear bargains :-)
Mary from Minnesota - Now house contract is signed, will you still be M from M or M from somewhere completely different????
Judith - My partner and I have had a few lovely weekend breaks in Scarborough and are hoping to come up again this autumn.
I have got to concentrate hard on not stuffing my face this weekend as it has been such a difficult time coming back to work after my weekend break. 10 hour days are starting to be a bit of a strain, as with another service having started up, I am even more tied to my desk. Everytime I think I will just get up and walk a few steps, another person comes up to the desk and has to be booked in or has questions to be answered. My knees and hips are protesting about this and although I know swimming would help, I am just too tired in the evenings to even think about going.
Best wishes to everyone.
Gilly, Suffolk Uk

I am not sure where I fit in with this site. I am over 50 and I have been using the app for some time. I am serious about it now, lost 10 lbs now and I am afraid I will lose my way again. I don't have any support and sure could use some. I work 60 hours a week and just can't seem to figure out if I am coming or going sometimes. Anyway, like I said, just could use some support. Is this a place to get it?0

Hello everyone!
Pip: what a poopie. My dog’s going to be 11 next month...it’s going way too fast...
Toni: if you’re comfortable saying, where are you in middle Tennessee? (Or maybe in a PB.) We are visiting this summer and might be able to use some tips (like don’t go to Gatlinburg...).
Jane: glad the surgery went well.
Annr: good idea about the index cards.
Sylvia, your husband, lol! He sounds sweet. Ain’t it grand? You deserve a sweetie. I'm thankful every day for mine. Love the genealogy joke. Wait, I missed the post-it notes. What was that?
Linda: sorry about your bad news. If it’s any comfort, I would have inhaled that marble cake too.
Ddnavy: there’s lots of support here. Just post!
Hope we all have a good day!
Cynthia :flowerforyou:

Gilly - We are going to the Gower Peninsula. We are right out on the west side of it. We have rented a cottage for a week. It is the birthplace and childhood home of Captain Evans, who was on the Scott of the Antarctic expedition. He fell down a crevasse on the way back from the Pole and went into a coma and died. No one knows where they buried him. (Joyce get out your ipad! !) Lots of lovely walks and dramatic sweeps of sandy beaches. I know I will love it, it's just the packing and travelling I hate. I loathe motorways! ! ! ! !
Joyce - we do eat a lot of international food in Britain. Our own traditional food less often, but a lot of families still do a Sunday Roast. Curries and Chinese food are staples. Thai is popular. You can find Indian restaurants right in the middle of the countryside! A lot of people here get takeaways or home delivery once a week. We also get a lot of our groceries delivered from supermarkets. Are we just lazy? ? ? It is also very common to have a cleaner once a week - even my friend who is on benefits has a cleaner! ! ! ! ! I think we are lazy!
Going to write a few sentences of my memoir this morning before I start packing. I did some yesterday and had a bit of a brainwave while I was exercising this morning.
Linda - hope it all works out. :flowerforyou:
Speak later folks. Heather x x x UK0 -
Heather - you forgot our wonderful 'toad-in-the-hole' and steak and kidney pudding!!
I do have my groceries delivered but that is because I do not drive and often have not got a 'chauffeur' to take me there and back and the groceries are much too heavy to carry on the bus! but I have NEVER had a cleaner, maybe I should have one?
And the Gower Peninsula is such a beautiful part of the country, enjoy.

Alison: I slept badly again too.
For the wild animal lovers: here's one of two deer I came across while taking my dog out. You can't see it, but only about 5 yards/meters to the left of the photo is a two-lane street and a residential neighborhood. They're getting too tame. :noway: Anybody know why the photo is sideways? The original isn't.

Good morning. TGIF0

I'd like to say hello to everyone, so, "hello". Last year I gained back the 50 lbs. that I lost the previous year. Now I'm back to try again. I've lost almost 10 lbs. so far.
I'm having trouble on the physical activity part currently due to a back back and foot. I'm currently in PT. I also have those times that all of a sudden all I want to do is shove food in my mouth. What's up with that? I see you have goals listed that are not food related. Can you tell me about that? Basically, I need all the support I can get on this new way of living. It's hard teaching an old dog new tricks.

Can someone send an invite to this group, I can't figure out how to join it...0

EMCOX - You have joined just by posting, as Barbie always says just add a name you would like to be known by and your location and join in whenever you like :-)0

@ddnavy it's been an amazing place for me to find exactly what I needed in terms of support, both on and off the scale.
Heather in the UK, if it wasn't you that snagged my book in Great Britain, someone did, which makes me an internationally read author, right? THAT's going on the marketing materials for the next book. Hard to explain how incredibly tough it is to get past the fear and put your children up there in front of the world to be scrutinized and criticized. It's been an interesting year, and so glad to find such amazing support for something totally unrelated to weight loss here!
And on the weight loss note... down 19 pounds this morning since April 1! And, since I am unforgivably geeky, at the bottom is the 90-day graph - my actual weight is the black dots. The ones that march in straight lines are stalls, and the stalls are finally getting shorter! The colored dots are projections for losing one pound a week, two pounds a week, and so on. And yes, I did lose 11 pounds in the first week of April. Always easy for me to lose weight the first week on a diet - I used to weigh 300 pounds, and the body does remember... but then it came near shutting me down for the next month. That, and business travel for a job that immediately laid me off afterward led me here. Good comes out of everything.
That little, tiny green square over to the right edge would mean I weigh one pound less than my six-foot tall DH, and that would make me VERY happy, at 174 pounds. Shooting for a loss of 36 pounds in 90 days, a bit over 2 pounds a week, which my nurse practitioner is okay with. Then my NEXT 90-day goal would be by the end of September to hit my final goal of 136 pounds (normal BMI for a 5'2" person). She wants me to stabilize at 140-145 pounds. Figuring at least 90 days to stabilize, into December... That's the plan. Time to work the plan...
(and for anyone who's new, no you are not expected to graph your weight loss on Excel, I'm just a little tetched in the head on graphs thing. You'll find the rest of the geeky grrrrls on here play with Fitbits and such. )

Morning everyone, thought I best check in before we leave for jasper...
annr - love the idea of the index cards. I write everything on my TOPS Daily inspiration calendar but this is an even better idea.
Lisa west Texas - I like graphs too!!
Janet - CONGRATULATIONS on your 50 pounds!!
There are definitely a lot of newbies here, welcome all.
Finally ..... the sun is out and it sounds like we are going to have some warm weather. I think mother Nature was just reminding me it was way to early to go to the greenhouse.
Take care everyone, must get a move on - 6 hour drive to Jasper.

I woke up early and dressed in workout clothes and headed for the hotel fitness center while Jake slept. Boo hoo. It was closed til 8 AM because of some hotel construction so I spent my two hours practicing line dance in the bathroom and the reading all your posts. Thank you for making my morning better. Now Jake is dressed we'll go to breakfast and go to the fitness center later.0
