Trying to figure out if I want to sacrifice some speed this summer to add some upper body muscle. Still, after taking off a bunch of weight, I'm almost afraid to try out a muscle/weight gain cycle to see if I can pack some more muscle on up top (as adding muscle while losing isn't too feasible).

    6/1 - 0.3 mile swim, 15 mile bike
    6/2 - 6 mile bike, 5 mile run
    6/3 - 30 min weights, 4.5 mile run
    6/4 - 65 mile bike, 5 mile run
    6/5 - 50 mile bike
    6/6 - 30 min weights, 0.5 mile run (weight warm-up)
    6/7 - 10 mile run
    6/8 - rest
    6/9 - 4.5 mile run, 30 min weights (tri/bi/chest/delts), 12 mile bike
    6/10 - 7 mile run, 30 min weights (legs/back/abs), 0.7 mile swim, 12 mile bike
6/11 - 17 mile bike, 5 mile bike (expresso), 6 mile run, 1 mile swim
    6/12 - 26 mile bike, 6 mile run, 30 min weights

Total: 5 weights, 48.5 miles running, 208 miles biking, 2 mile swimming
Goal: 9 weights, 140 miles running, 500 miles biking, 8 miles swimming
Remaining: 4 weights, 91.5 miles running, 292 miles biking, 6 miles swimming

    6/12 - yoga class 55:06
6/13 - undetermined distance open water lap swim in 48:08 (garmin says 1467y but it was probably closer to 2200-2400y - I should have set it to pool swim and changed the length to 40m, instead of putting it in open water mode)

    Totals through 6/13:
Swim: 4.97 (plus prob .5 for the missed yardage on 6/13) miles in 3.37 hours (4 swims)
Bike: 130.18 miles in 9.11 hours (5 rides)
Run: 17.56 miles in 3.09 hours (4 runs)
Yoga: 2 classes (plus 15 min bonus yoga after LL)

6/2- 3 mile run with strides
    6/3- rest
    6/4-run on trails-5.7 mi. 2000 m. Swim
    6/5- rest
    6/6- 2600m swim plus 14.1 mi. bike
    6/7- 31.5 miles bike, 1.5 run
    6/8- swim- 1900m
    6/9- 3.1 mi run, 14.5 mi bike
    6/10- REST!!! Beer+ice cream + tacos!!
6/11- 7.6 mi. flat trail run.
6/12- that long swim session? Yeah, didn't happen. I drank jungle juice around a campfire instead. Sorry not sorry.
6/13- 45.5mile bike ride with my kid brother. He got us a wee bit lost, but we ended up finding some pretty cool roads and hit one heck of a rainstorm.
6/14- 3.5 mile trail race + 1.5 mile warmup/cooldown. Had a really good time. Got stuck in a pack for most of the narrow single track, so I took it easy and was able to finish strong. Really loving the trail running community. The races are so low key and friendly.

    Swim: 9000 m
    Bike: 139 mi
Run: 25.9 mi-math isn't adding up when compared to the running challenge. Hmmm, wonder what I did wrong..
    X-train: 40 minutes yoga

@csman49 - yes...already started my taper this week, actually, both in volume and effort (I did only 8 hours of training plus an hour of yoga this past week (M-Su), with no pe over 6/7, except my 3.5 mile race on Tues....for the 4 weeks before that, I was averaging between 10-11 hours plus an hour of yoga each week, and I had at least one really hard effort workout a week, plus I had a race 3 of 4 weeks - 10mi, 5k, 15k). I expect that this week will be even lighter, except for race day. I believe my coach said today was basically my "last hurrah" before the race :)

6/14 - 3 hr Brick pe 5: 45.02 mile bike in 2:45:28 and 1.64 mile run in 15:17 - total 3:00:45 got to ride the flats today!

    Totals through 6/14:
Swim: 4.97 (plus prob .5 for the missed yardage on 6/13) miles in 3.37 hours (4 swims)
Bike: 175.2 miles in 11.87 hours (6 rides)
Run: 19.2 miles in 3.34 hours (5 runs)
Yoga: 2 classes (plus 15 min bonus yoga after LL)

Long run this morning, followed by a mid-distance swim to help get the circulation back into my legs before making my usual commute to the ballpark. As tomorrow is the 15th, with a 0.8 mile swim, 18 miles on the bike, and 6.5 miles of running tomorrow, I'll be right at the mid point for my planned monthly mileage.

    6/3 - 30 min weights, 4.5 mile run
    6/4 - 65 mile bike, 5 mile run
    6/5 - 50 mile bike
    6/6 - 30 min weights, 0.5 mile run (weight warm-up)
    6/7 - 10 mile run
    6/8 - Rest
    6/9 - 4.5 mile run, 30 min weights (tri/bi/chest/delts), 12 mile bike
    6/10 - 7 mile run, 30 min weights (legs/back/abs), 0.7 mile swim, 12 mile bike
6/11 - 17 mile bike, 5 mile bike (expresso), 6 mile run, 1 mile swim
    6/12 - 26 mile bike, 6 mile run, 30 min weights
    6/13 - 0.7 mile swim, 12 mile bike

Velodrome session was AWESOME! I had no idea the banks were SO steep, first few laps it was scary! I had to have a word with myself to just get over it already, and hit the banks hard! Fantastic! No idea of how many laps or distance (250m lap) so just a guesstimate. Also, was kitted out with my Team Optum gear for the session, and the Team Optum ladies Pro Cycling team were in attendance, so it was all very pro looking! They've flown in from northern USA so a couple of days to acclimatize before the Tour of Britain race begins. Lovely bunch of girls, was a pleasure :o)

    6/13 - 8 mile tempo run
    6/14 - 60 mile bike ride

If you've never done a velodrome and can get the chance, do it! Once you get past the mental block, its really good fun entering high on the corners then exiting low for that extra pace :)

Past/at the mid-point for all monthly goals after an 8 mile run, 0.8 mile swim, 30 min weight session, and 18 miles on the bike today (5 gym, 12 for my commute this evening). Feeling pretty tired though, so I'll just stick to running/biking tomorrow. New bike wheels are coming in tonight (from wiggle) for my cheap city commuter (only 3 business days from ordering from the UK to arriving in the states!), so looking forward to giving them a spin tomorrow as I'm getting tired of swapping out broken spokes.

    6/1 - 0.3 mile swim, 15 mile bike
    6/2 - 6 mile bike, 5 mile run
    6/3 - 30 min weights, 4.5 mile run
    6/4 - 65 mile bike, 5 mile run
    6/5 - 50 mile bike
    6/6 - 30 min weights, 0.5 mile run (weight warm-up)
    6/7 - 10 mile run
    6/8 - Rest
    6/9 - 4.5 mile run, 30 min weights (tri/bi/chest/delts), 12 mile bike
    6/10 - 7 mile run, 30 min weights (legs/back/abs), 0.7 mile swim, 12 mile bike
6/11 - 17 mile bike, 5 mile bike (expresso), 6 mile run, 1 mile swim
    6/12 - 26 mile bike, 6 mile run, 30 min weights
    6/13 - 0.7 mile swim, 12 mile bike
    6/14 - 15 mile run, 0.5 mile swim, 12 mile bike
6/15 - 8 mile run, 5 mile bike (expresso), 30 min weights, 0.8 mile swim, 12 mile bike

Total: 6 weights, 71.5 miles running, 250 miles biking, 4 mile swimming
Goal: 9 weights, 140 miles running, 500 miles biking, 8 miles swimming

06 Sat - 100 kilometre ride on our Bike Friday Pocket Llamas (folding bikes). The route was relatively flat, but had the added challenge of rain for the first half of the ride. Fortunately it was a warm day for winter, and wasn't at all windy for a change!

That was the longest distance we have ridden the folding bikes so far. It was kind of a test ride to see how we would go over that distance. We were reasonably comfortable. I was having a few back/right hip issues, but stretching seemed to help.
