Got to meander around town today testing out my new wheels on my commuter bike and re-tuning my rear derailleur due to the new cassette spacing & bigger granny gear (32). Definitely very happy with the weight reduction although going from 700x32s to 700x23s is having me feel every bump. I'll accept the tradeoff, as I've kept my old wheelset/tires and can swap in if end up doing another Pittburgh to DC ride this summer.

Wanted to keep things light today, but after doing a short run & bike ride, I ended up doing the full 2-mile loop around every airport terminal branch 4 times this evening to kill off most of a 4 hour flight delay. According to google fit, I've put in 31 hours of exercise this past week (including my usual walking). I'm not trying to complete obscene amounts of exercise, but I think subconsciously, I'd like to reach the century mark for weight loss (as the reduction has been gradual over the past 3 years and I'm getting pretty close). I'll rest tomorrow.

Stressful week at work, big event wednesday, job was well and truly on the line if the IT side failed! Went as seamlessly as i'd promised. Late night run last night just to blow the week off. Actually found it really hard. First 5km was ok, 2nd 5km though, knee and toe issues. I have 2 nails that are going to come off at some point.
Ordered a new bicycle frameset from china on thursday. My current bike is fine, but its a bit of a bitsa. Shimano 2300 brighter and RD (thats lower than Sora, very entry level), Ultra BB, Tiagra crank and cassette, unbranded brakes. Weighs in around 10kg, so i'll keep it as a trainer/dirty commute bike. New frame, think i'll put full 105 on it plus my Fulcrums. Maybe around 7.5kg once built?

06 Sat - 100 kilometre ride on our Bike Friday Pocket Llamas (folding bikes). The route was relatively flat, but had the added challenge of rain for the first half of the ride. Fortunately it was a warm day for winter, and wasn't at all windy for a change!
That was the longest distance we have ridden the folding bikes so far. It was kind of a test ride to see how we would go over that distance. We were reasonably comfortable. I was having a few back/right hip issues, but stretching seemed to help.

Gentle saunter as the boy wanted to go for a cycle ride. This generally involves walking uphill, gentle jog on the flats, and fast downhill sprints as he heads towards a T junction! Fastest sprint recorded at 25kmh.0 -
Taking it easy as Florida is just getting too darn hot and the fish (and mosquitoes) have been biting. Still, got in a few miles the past few days. Returning to the cooler north tomorrow which should help me get back on track.

The commute to work is definitely a good way to get the cycle km's up. The river path is gravelly, so not a lot of 'rolling', plus a lot of stops to get through gates/bridges = good workout!
New bike frame from China ordered thursday, was dispatched saturday. Awaiting with trepidation. Meanwhile, have ordered a 105 groupset, plus all the odds n sods to build it. Only things i'm short of is a saddle (will use my current saddle) and pedals. And a seat post clamp! Not sure i've picked the right gearing though, currently use 39/52 (tiagra crank) with 11-28. I never get in to the 11, so i shot for 36/52 12-28. I don't have many hills where i am, but that doesn't mean i wont have more hills in the future. Currently the 39 does me fine for my hills, maybe i should go for 11-25? Suck it and see i think.
What are peoples thoughts on carbon fibre for seatpost and handlebars? I've bought alloy for now. I have a feeling that a CF handlebar failure is only ever going to end badly. Also, will be needing new tyres soon. The Gatorskins do seem quite bulletproof, but between the trainer and the gravel tracks, i'll not get much longer, and would like to get new ones bedded in. I'm thinking of moving from 23mm Gators to 25mm GP4000Sii
Waiting to hear how @gobonas99 got on!?

Goals:
swim: 6.25/10k (62.5% there....)
cycle: 30/160k (18.75% there....)
run: 20/50k (40% there....)
events scheduled: 15k run + Olympic distance triathlon
June 1: 10k cycle
June 7: 4k swim
June 14: 15k run
lost track of the dates past this point! (= oops....)
& csman49.... I'll PURELY admit.
I think more about the comfort of the saddle as opposed to the seatpost!
(but then again... the stock seat that's on my bike is FAAAARRR from comfy)0 -
*sigh* So....I officially HATE Mother Nature.
Not sure if I will ever forgive her...
Swim went great, bike was FAB (10 min course PR)...run was going great, if a little slower than I'd wanted - the course is a double out and back....I was .2 miles from the third turnaround when we were told to turn around and seek shelter in a garage because of an incoming storm. Full race report is here, because I just can't bear to write about it again. This was a "one shot" deal for me, per agreement with my hubby, because the training time is so much.
6/21 - Ironman 70.3 (or rather, IM 67.15, everyone was pulled off the run course due to weather) - per my Garmin: 1.24mi swim in 44:55, T1 6:30, 55.25 mile bike in 3:33:17, T2 4:48, 10.25 miles of the run in 2:15:23 - total 6:44:54
6/22 - Lofty Ladies recovery ride - 15.01 miles in 1:04:54
6/23 - Recovery ride with some rollers - 24.01 miles in 1:34:56
Totals through 6/23:
Swim: 8.31 miles (plus prob .5 for the missed yardage on 6/13) in 5.40 hours (7 swims)
Bike: 309.39 miles in 20.66 hours (12 rides)
Run: 33.27 miles in 6.23 hours (9 runs)
Yoga: 3 classes (plus 2 15 min bonus yoga sessions after LL)
Next up: Corporate Tri mini sprint (400M swim, 9 mile bike, 2 mile run) on Thurs July 9.0 -
@gobonas99 very sorry to hear that your run was cut short. I'm sure you'll kick *kitten* at your next race, even if it is a bit shorter than planned. Sounds like you can make a reasonable argument for trying another one soon although I'm not sure what is still available in the 70.3 series.
Finally finished updating my city commuter. Kinda sad that having a nicer road bike has made me want to upgrade my city bike as I know what a solid racer feels like. Still, given all of the experience I've now gained from replacing wheels/tires, cassettes, brake pads, cranks, seats, tuning deraileurs, and a bottom bracket, I'm now feeling much more mechanically competent.

Whoa, it's been a while! I took a mini break from logging/ hard training over the weekend to clear my head, but here's what I've accomplished recently:
6/18- 30 min yoga
6/19- rest! I'm NOT getting enough sleep these days
6/20- 1400 m. Swim- w/u, time trial, cooldown
6/21- 25 minutes strength, 2000m swim, 10.4 mi bike ride with Dad for Father's Day
6/22- 2500m swim
6/23- rest day! Bought Dad Jimmy Buffett tickets for Fathers Day. And, in Cincinnati, a Buffett concert is a day-long event... We had an awesome time!
Swim: 16400 m
Bike: 160.4mi
Run: 31.4 mi
X-train: 110minutes yoga, 25 min strength
Doing a swim focused block right now, then on to a cycling block, which is a bit of a relief because my bad leg has been acting up- chronic knee injury is causing all manner of hip, glute, and ankle problems... But, I really, really, really want to run. I've been walking about 3-4 miles more than usual each day to fill the void, lol.
@gobonas99 Sorry again about your shortened race. That is so freaking frustrating. I think you should get a custom 67.15 bumper sticker, though,
TLDR: don't bother, I'm just rambling.0
