LisaKC I had been gaining and losing the same pound for 3 months!!! I finally broke that cycle this weigh-in. Keep up the good work.
  • Hi everybody! Weigh in tomorrow so I just wanted to say good luck! I feel really nervous, I have a really naughty weekend with loads of food and drink and no exercise at all and I am dreading that it will come back to haunt me when I stand on those scales...
Looking forward to hearing everyones news!!

Good morning, my Thursday peeps. This week I lost 0.5 pounds. This is good, considering the amount of wine I drank over the weekend! :drinker:
  • Hi to all!

I weigh in on Mondays and Thursdays. Knowing over the weekend that I'll be facing the scales on Monday helps keep me motivated to stay on my meal plan, but I actually record Thursday's weight. It may be silly, but it works for me!

I had an injury to my achilles tendon a few months ago, followed by surgery in early July. I felt very discouraged as my exercise routine had to be suspended while I recovered from the surgery. I've been out of the cast for about a month, and I've been able to resume walking (just short distances) this past week. So I decided it was time to get back on the scales.

During my recovery period, I made a conscious effort to watch my calorie intake (mostly being careful about portion sizes). The good news is I was down another 9 pounds! I was so excited.

So, I've got renewed motivation to continue following my meal plan and adding the exercises back slowly (as the surgeon advised). There's still a chance that I'll come close to my goal for the year by the end of December, in spite of being laid up for several weeks!

WTG katzpawz & hova! Hova, you crack me up! Gotta love George Jefferson!
  • Wow, awesome results Hova, I can totally see you strutting around lol.

I'm down a pound, and I'm not expecting much next week since I am planning on having some VERY good food for my birthday this weekend. But hopefully afterwards I'll start seeing 2-3 pounds again! Congrats for all the hard work we've put in!

up .4 but I'm still happy because this is not the best time for me to be weighing myself! !:blushing:
  • Okay, so I've been absent for a while but that's because I have been so upset about how my weight loss had been going. well I'm back and I'm happy to say I lost 2 lbs this week. That means I only have 6 more lbs to go towards my first weight loss goal!

I hope everyone had a great week!

According to my trusty scale, I gained 4 pounds in a week. This seems almost impossible to me. We've been out of town for most of that time, and I suspect the eating out (despite mostly good choices and plenty of exercise) has resulted in massive sodium. So I'm not freaking out for now. I'll drink plenty of water and see if this resolves itself. If it doesn't, I'll freak out next week.

I have GREAT news. Today Sept 30 - I weigh 165.0, yay! I have been cleansing, so a lot of the weight loss is a result of my 10 day cleanse. However, this is great motivation for me to keep going at it hard! love ya'll.
  • Hello all! Haven't weighed for the past 2 Thursdays hoping to make good if not great progress... Nope, not the case.

    LW: 185
    CW: 185.4
    GW: 160
  • Lisa - really sounds like it is probably sodium retention - I doubt you can have put on 4lb in one week. Good luck wth the next weigh in.

great job hsquared. i hope this week you're that much closer to your 1st weight loss goal.

^5 @ hips! that's 4 pounds down from the 9th! what IS cleansing anyways? i might want to give it a try if it works that well.

    here's my results:

    SW: 207.0
    LW: 191.8
    CW: 191.8
    GW: 170.0

so 0 pounds lost/gained since last week's weigh in (which is an acheivement considering how i've been eating the last 5 days), 15.2 total pounds lost and 21.8 pounds to go. I got a tape measure last week and I'm down an inch on my waist and hips, so I am still making progress. all things considered, not a bad week

Three of the four pounds are already gone, so I'm sure it's sodium.:drinker: My husband said his weight was up even more than mine, and his is getting back to normal, too. Wish restaurants didn't put so much salt in their food.
  • Hey everyone!! So sorry I've been missing so much on here!!! Life has thrown some curve balls my way but I'm ready to deal with them. The good news is that I'm maintaining and not gaining! However after the 6 hour hike today I hope to lose some this week!!

Welcome to all of the new members, I wish you lots of success in your weight loss journey! And to Hova this is a group open to anyone!! Welcome!!

You are all doing so well and I'm very happy to read about so many losses!! Keep it up! I'll will try to get on more often!!
  • Can anyone help please?!!!!
MFP gave me a target loss of 6lb by the 28th Sept and I've just realised I lost exactly 6lb by the 28th September so I'm happy with that!
My question is - I want to get a new target now but have no idea how to, any ideas please?!!
    Thanks

    Helloo everyone,
I've been on this for almost a month now (doing Thursday weigh ins!) but my motivations starting to fade away! ... Can I join your group?
I weigh myself everyday just to see if the general trend is up or down (I don't log it), but it seems like I'm going to gain this week which is pretty upsetting :grumble: ... so I decided to join this thread rather than munch my way through the amazing looking apple crumbles downstairs that my mum bought.
Hope everyone does well on Thursday!

Just weighed in and I'm down pound from last week!! Woo whoo! That makes the total 19 pounds so far since January. I had hoped to shed more than that by this time, but I have to remember that with a foot injury that required surgery, my exercise has had to go on hold. I can now walk about a mile, but still not very fast.

Here's wishing everyone a good week!

    Welcome to the group!

I've done exactly the same thing you're doing about weighing daily. Personally, I finally came to the conclusion that I was driving myself mad and starting to obsess over it. Someone suggested that stop weighing every day, and put more energy into tracking my food intake and exercise. I've been doing that for a while now, and it seems to be making a difference. In fact, I had continued to weigh myself twice a week, but recently I changed to just once.

It is true that our weight can fluctuate by a few pounds during the course of a week. I also have some mild problems with fluid retention which will also impact my weight by a up to a few pounds. So, since I've stopped torturing myself by worrying so much about what the scales say, I seem to be making better progress.

I hope this is helpful. Again, welcome to the group and have a good week!

Good news - The 4 (sodium OD) pounds that found me last week are gone. AND I lost 1.5 pounds this week, too. So my total weight loss is now 13.5 pounds. Good luck to all you losers out there!

@rachel, not sure how to solve your problem. Try checking one of the help message boards, and you may find what you're looking for. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi everyone. I am new to this post but love the idea of a weekly weigh in. Just to give a little about me. I am a former athlete who without a purpose (getting bigger fast and stronger for the sport) find it difficult to eat clean and work out on a regular routine. I believe this will be great group for me...accoutablity is a great motivator.

    SW: 270
    GW: 245
    CW: 270
    Short term goal 260
