Just try and buy as natural as possible so it's not made with HFCS or lots of sugar. I love it with potatoes!

Nothing wrong with sugar or hfcs.

Miss it! Among other things, (gluten and dairy) I have had to give up Nightshades- tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant (no great loss there), and all forms of bell and chilli peppers. So as you can imagine, condiments have become a bit of an issue. I have discovered the key to the flavor of ketchup is the vinegar and spices. I've adapted a recipe (cutting down the sugar, leaving out additional corn syrup, and cutting 3/4 of the salt) and find that I have a substitute that works quite well in other recipes- dressings, spreads, crockpot roasts, stew, baked beans and sloppy joes. I can't have fries or hash browns anymore, and never had it on my eggs, so I don't know if it would stand on it's own... but I'm glad I have it. Now that I'm here, I'll have to compare my recipe to the real thing for calorie and nutrient content!
Wow, so restrictive. Can I ask why?

I made my own pineapple-jalapeño ketchup last week. It's really good and I am learning where I like it and where not. Egg white omelette with vegetables and my ketchup is really good. Steamed potatoes not so much....lol.
PS: I made the ketchup, because I like two different Chinese dishes that without ketchup do not taste authentic. Until I had those dishes I never had ketchup in over 50 years, because it's not popular in all countries....it's a revelation for me......

I have never seen people put ketchup on steak.

I use miniscule amounts of ketchup on fries. Probably a teaspoon or less for a serving of fries. I don't even log the ketchup.

I think the stuff is evil. But that's because I hate the look, taste and smell of it.

I do use other condiments from time to time and I measure and log those.

not sure wtf a thread about enjoying or disliking ketchup has to do with sugar hate but thanks for this

I imagine many of us who consume sugar regularly and have met or surpassed our goals and have fantastic blood work to back it up would tend to strongly disagree

For the record, I don't avoid ketchup due to sugar, HCFS, or other magikal pixie fairies.

I avoid it because it tastes like flatulence smells

it has high fructose corn syrup which many studies say isn't good for you. It also has 4 g of sugar [in form of HFCS] per tablespoon which could add up to alot of sugar depending on how much you use, etc.
