Physical and occupational therpy came in today' the OT lady just asked social questions to see whT kind of environment he lives in, what he is normally like. The PT guy assessed to see if he could do any exercises but he is till out from his IV Ativan last night. I am asking that that be given only as needed. It is also against hospital rules to have bottom side fails up. They are noting that I am putting them up. When I leave the room, I put them down. He is now incontinent of stool and urine and a diaper is on. I don't know if that is because of the Ativan or just doesn't know when he has to go. Tried again to get his to eat pancake and V8 juice but no go. His 'real' infectious disease guy, the other was just on call for the weekend, saw him and said that they will also treat as West nIle disease until spinal tap. Is done and results back.
Finally could talk to Christina, my oldest daughter. I have talked a lot via Face book but not by phone since I haut couldn't emotionally talk to her. So we talked today for a long while. She will come this weekend. She hasn't decided yet whether to bring the kids.the me hong she is worried about is whether or or coming this weekend is to late. So I told her that from what they are saying that she will be fine.
Heather, thT is some green bean tree. I just remember my Moms green beans as laying on the ground or in a mound type plant.mine come from a can,

Mindy in Boston – You are the second person this week to mention Cotton Candy grapes. I had never heard of them before now. Sounds like I will have to look for them in my local stores.
Linda – Congratulations on reaching Onederland!
Becca – Good for you for standing up to the woman who did not have her dog on a leash. Yes, she knows her own dog. Yes, it did come when called. However, there will always be situations where a dog no matter how well behaved will suddenly break training. Fortunately this was not one of those situations, but it could have been. She should have had a leash with her and should have leashed the dog when asked. That is merely polite social behavior. Well, OK. She should have the dog leashed since it is the law but scofflaws abound.
Sylvia – I sure do hope that as I continue to read that you finally found some relief and are well on the way to healing. Sorry to be seeing you are feeling so miserable.
Joyce – you and Charlie have been (and continue to be) in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sad to see how hard these past several days have been for you. Sending you strength, comfort and a sincere hope that you do not also become ill yourself while being there for Charlie.

Well poop! (No Pip, that is not a shout out to you <grin>) I was so preoccupied on Sat. that I forgot to check-in and I lost a 20 day logging streak. Oh well, gives me an opportunity to start a new streak. So why was I so busy on Sat.? Please let me tell you. You know I am going to tell anyway.
Sat. morning is my time to work out with EPT (Evil Personal Trainer). This week he decided it was time for me to attempt floor exercises. NSV #1 – I was able to get down on the floor without difficulties and I got back up easily as well. Gosh that feels good. Then he decided that it was time to introduce squats into my routine. NSV #2 – The knees help up! My thighs still feel the squats even after 48 hours, but I’m thrilled. More signs that I am getting stronger. Of course, now that I have shown that I can do these things EPT is going to make me continue to do them (Boo, Hiss) but that’s why I am paying him. He keeps me honest and continues to challenge me to do better.
Sat. afternoon the woman who helps me unpack and re-pack boxes spent 2 hours with me. We got 2 shelves of books emptied, dusted, sorted and re-shelved the books that are keepers. We also got 2 display cabinet shelves completely emptied. I am now in a position to go through the boxes of stuff I thought I wanted to keep and display and make a final determination of what I can keep and must get release into the world. Right now my biggest blocking point is that I have many boxes of stuff that I do not want to keep, and yet I cannot just bring myself to hand them over to the Salvation Army. I have things like a collection of dolls which I have been told are not saleable right now (translation- I won’t get as much money out of them as what I have put into them) which is OK with me. However, I also want to know they are appreciated for what they are and I’m not sure SA will treat them that way. Fortunately, my organizer is coming tonight so I can talk it over with her as to my options on dealing with all of that stuff.
Last, but certainly not least, DH and I went out Sat. evening to celebrate our 28th anniversary with a nice dinner. We had a lovely dinner and a good opportunity to talk with each other. No terribly serious conversation. Just haven’t had time to even eat together for the past 2 weeks so it was good to touch base. I was especially pleased to be able to say that I have a very nice meal and still was able to stay within my eating plan. I just never got on-line to enter said eating plan into MFP.
So here I sit trying to catch up on 5 pages of posts that I missed reading over the weekend. I know it is OK to simply start with the current page, but I find that I really enjoy know what everyone has shared her even when I do not comment. So that’s what I have been up to and I’ll be reading and thinking of each and every one of you even if I do not give shout outs to each of you.

Joyce - I wish I could be there with you to give you a hug!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Just imagine I am giving you a great big one. So glad your daughter can make it down. The runner beans are tender (do not like any frost) , but love LOTS of rain and moisture. August has been almost continuous rain. If it is too hot when they are flowering you get no beans. Last year they all sickened and died. This year - a bonanza!
Barbie - sorry for your pain. How annoying! Hope it clears up soon. :flowerforyou:
Penny - WTG on the record!
Love Heather x x UK0 -
Barbie-I am so sorry to hear about your hip! It's nice that you have all that love surrounding you!
Margaret-I love the picture of the butter sculpture! You are right about carrying around all that extra weight. It's amazing when you're actually able to visualize what 90 pounds looks like.
Rita-along time ago the trainer at the health club suggested using chromium to aid in weight loss. I wonder if they do that any more.
Joyce-our prayers are with you!
Mia - Happy Anniversary! I am glad that you enjoyed your dinner and time with your DH. I know that using MFP I am able to go back and record food for the prior day so that I do not lose the logging streak. So go back and enter for the day that you missed and it will reset.
Have a great day everyone!

Katla, my son's housing worker will not EVER answer phone messages or email. This has been his pattern for several years. My sister is making an appointment to see him and light a fire under him. What a bunch of SH**! This is the reason my son lost his lease and had to move in 6 days- the worker never answered his questions about stuff the landlord was adding to the new lease so he didn't know if he could sign it.0

Questions: did anyone see the view today?? My tv went bonkers n couldn't hear. 1. Had a guy on who either weighed 700 pounds or lost 700 pounds. 2. Mention how he did it. Tried the site, found nothing. If you know the answer please help! Thanks Gayle Minneapolis0

Penny – nice job going after your goals !
Maryann – don’t worry about those young chicks. Go do your thing. I’m so proud of you for doing those programs!
Heather – Wonderful advice. With my now-ex, when I decided to move out, and told him, our relationship became much more calm and relaxed before becoming toxic again (when I filed for divorce). But, he also became very comfortable allowing his dates to call the house when I was home, so that was difficult for me (although I didn’t let him see that). It is a blurred grey line between love for a person and being in love.
Mary – Since Payne just turned 15, and only recently got arm pit hair, he has been on a simple low weight lifting program for 2 years now. Only a few months ago (maybe June?) he started adding significant weights (when he got cut from the h.s. baseball team). He’s still only 5’9” tall, and likely will be 6’ when finished growing, so we have to let him lead his own lifting to a degree. When he is in H.S. basketball or football (with friends, not on the team) lifting, he does what the coaches tell him to do, so he only does this program 1-4 times per week during the “off season”. He now weighs 154.
Mindy – Yes, your life turned a corner. But I hope this is a positive new corner for you. Just keep a healthy attitude, and healthy lifestyle, and God will jump in to start guiding you again. Stick with us for added support. (most men are stupid) Hugs ! ! !
Rita – So Sorry about your DS and his situation. It is so sad to watch when someone gets “off the wagon” like that, especially with a prescription that the prescribing doctor didn’t likely know would cause a problem. I hope it all gets worked out soon. It’s painful as a Mother, but try not to take it personally; it is his disease. Hugs ! ! !
Mia – Happy Anniversary !
Miriam – More hugs for you and your son. Incompetence is no excuse for someone who is supposed to be helping others less fortunate. I hope your sister is able to get this going. Is there a supervisor who can be contacted, and maybe get the papers faxed instead of mailed. I am aware that mailing stuff is my weak spot, so I always ask for a fax number, because for some reason I will then get it done, and usually on time. (lol)
The only thing I didn’t like about working out together as a family is DS needs a spotter during most of his lifting, so if DH is on the treadmill I have to be the spotter, so I don’t get as much of a workout. But, it gets us all out of the house, and doing something, and I feel like it is important for DS to see us giving it an effort.
Today I am going to my favorite Market for produce. My second favorite has better prices this week, but I would have to drive past the Brewer’s stadium, and there are home games this week, and I would rather have my sanity and pay a tiny bit more for groceries.
For my nephews future daughter, I decided to knit a blanket on a loom, so DH and I went to Michaels for yarn after we bought his new Sketchers walking shoes. So far I am about 1/4 finished, and it looks lovely. I certainly should be able to finish within a few weeks. And I love that it doesn't hurt my hands or wrist much on the loom.
I'm also excited about walking from the Bowling Alley to Big Lots again on Wednesday. This time I will bring my own reusable bags, because they had some Apple/Mango laundry detergent, and I love that scent. Plus, DS states he needs more muscle milk, so my bags are likely to get pretty heavy on this trip.
Hugs for Everyone ! ! !

So much to think about from your many posts.
Annr - what lovely photos - what a lucky lady you are!
Mary in MN - agree with your posts about remembering sex in marriage for men. However, the opposite is also true and usually overlooked. Mine has zero interest, there's zero action & have concluded selfishness. Sorry, this is a sore spot for me.
Allison - prayers and hopes for a resolution you are happy with!

Wow! He is doing really well for his age and the length of time he has been lifting. What you could do is during his rest time inbetween each set which should be from 1 1/2 to 3 minutes is have him spot you while you lift not his amount but what you can. Any strength training builds muscle and burns calories. When you start to lift heavy which means you can't do more than 5 reps with that weight you burn 500 calories an hour even including your rest time.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and it doesn’t seem to have worked. Perhaps it is because too much time has passed. I’ll just settle for starting over again.
Michele in NC -DJ - my scale only measures to the 1/2 pound, also. But I think that's enough for me. No, I always say that women are born with an extra gene, the worry gene, and it doesn't kick in until you have children. I told my son once, "when I die, I'm coming back from the dead to worry about you"
LOL! I used to tease my mom that she would worry if she didn’t have anything to worry about.

Linda in CA - Hugs ! Mine also is not interested. He had "Computer" problems during his Mid-life Crisis, and it took a long time of NO viewing to get his mind back to normal (and seeing me in a cute nighty several months and therapy appointments later helped). Now, he is just in such bad physical condition that he tries not to think about it at all (and knows better than to go back to the internet). So, we do the hand-holding and snuggling and such, but know that we are not likely to ever go back "to normal". I also believe he has either low-T or mild depression, but refuses to take anything other than Tylenol or Alleve, so will never be treated.
Mary - Thanks! I will probably keep him a few more years, because the stronger he gets, the easier it is for him to do all the things I am unable to do. I am working closely with my rheumatologist and physical therapist, and since I am part of the crowd that is avoiding joint replacement, the most I lift is 10 pounds, with the most common being 3-5 pounds. I use the recumbent bike or hand bike at least 5 times a week, depending on which joints are currently having a debilitating flare, and which only have "work-able" pain. And I am hoping that DH keeps working out, so eventually they can take turns lifting, and I can get back on one of the bikes. It is worth it to me that I work-out during my work breaks, so they can work-out on evenings and weekends and I will suck it up and be the spotter. I know that if DH would do some lifting, he would feel better and healthier and burn more calories, but he was NOT receptive to that idea on Sunday, so I'll leave it be for awhile. // I really think the timing is key here for DS. He increased his lifting the day after he asked (and I first noticed leg hair), so he is probably currently at maximum testosterone levels, and at the perfect place for lifting. Plus, with red hair and a name like Payne, I need to give him as much chance as possible.

You can never be over dressed Only under dressed!! You both looked great!! One time we would dress for all theater events. Enjoy!! Gayle Minneapolis
heehee....you say "under dressed" like its a baaad thing... Well I will never be under dressed for a long while now...winter is coming! I still have the constitution like a Californian... It would be 115 in Vacaville CA and I would be ...ahhh heat. Those weekends we would be at the resort too, and 115 is great if you are a nudist. I just walked from one water source to another...Then drank a gallon of water at the dance!0 -

Come to Minnesota in February, sooooo cold people die!! Well that's not true but almost. We all are very old here but don't show our age due to the face freezing for 8 months!! We don't need Botox, just go outside!! Gayle Minneapolis0 -
Happy Monday ladies! One of you ladies wrote in a comment, what a lucky lady I was. Well, there are many days I think that. But we had to walk thru hell to get to this point. I messed up big time in life, and almost lost him. He almost died a couple of times throughout his awaiting a liver. I am a big believer in "you reap what you sow". So now I look at our life as a gift. Second changes don't come lightly in this world. So its a kind of wake up and smell the coffee feeling. Pay attention to things that matter, and let other mental baggage go by the wayside.
I thank you for all the positive comments. I know while I go thru this journey you all will be my biggest support system. I think its important to recognize where you are NOW and celebrate it. So now I look at my pictures and think, "I am a big woman, but I am embracing that, its ok". I think you have to really walk in the shoes you are given to truely understand where you need to go. I think the nudist in me rejoices in the fact that there is perfection in imperfections. There is a side of me that will never want to be a perfect 10. Does that mean that I don't want to change for the better? No, that means that in order for me to "get it" I have to accept the way I am, in all my appley figure :-)
Thanks again...
You all are stunning, powerful, amazing, encouraging, ladies :-)

GRRRRRRRR.... I have tried 3 times to get this to post. As promised, photos from visiting Michele Exermom in Newton, NC.
Michele's massive collection of over 100 exercise DVDs. She does a different one every day.
Ceramic turtle she painted. Red toenails were Joyce's suggestion. (Sorry for squinty-face, Michele. Still learning how to use my new phone).

Gonna post this now before I accidentally delete it again.

Rita I am so sorry you are going through this. My son has 6 yrs clean of meth. Because of this his doctor will not give him certain pain meds. I wonder if your DS's doctor is aware of his addiction.0

Happy Monday! The last day of August. Where has the month gone. I had a great weekend, spent time with family and friends and got lots of steps in. Weigh in this morning I was down 1 pound, with all the walking I've been doing I was working at it. Back to work this morning and same bu**sh**. The new lady starts today and I am concerned she will quit as the new schedule is out and our boss gave her all the weekends for the next month and given herself the weekends off. The boss doesn't come in till 3 today so could be interesting.
Yesterday went gerochashing with DS, DDIL, and DGD. One place we went you had to climb this hill. It was 1/2 mile almost straight up. The rail only went up about half way. I understand why babies climb stairs on their hands and knees as I did the last 1\3 of the way. I did it and was very proud of myself. Coming down was alot easier as DH stayed right in front of me. So I consider that my NSV for the weekend. Also for yesterday I got over 13000 steps on my fitbit.
Allison--Sending prayers and hugs. What a stressful mess. You are right it is in God's hands.
Meg--I understand what you mean about time flying by. Seems everytime I turn around another week has gone by and now tomorrow is the first day of September.
Last evening when we got home DSIL tells us DBIL is not moving as he was offered full time at his job here. I am glad for him as we were concerned. I just hope DDIL can be happy back down in Fairbury. I think a lot of it is because the doctors there just keep refilling her meds and up here they wanted her to take some tests and try and cut down or get her off them. So at least for now won't get the basement back.
katiebug--Love the picture, you both look really good. May God Bless you with many more years.
Joyce--Keeping you and Charlie in my prayers. Sending hugs. I see no reason for you not sharing his meal. You have to take care of you.
I got some tart cherry juice to help me sleep. All I can say is the taste about made me sick. But for $7 a bottle I will drink it everynight until gone.
Heather--Thanks for the kind words. If this new girl works out I should be back to my 40-42 hours a week the first part of October. I agree with Katla I think you are a very strong lady and done so much.
Sylvia--Hope you are feeling better.
janetr--Sending hugs, hope you feel better soon. I like the walking sticks. thanks for sharing the pictures of your new motorhome. Hope you enjoy lots of fun times traveling. DH and I want to do traveling when we retire.
DJ--Your DD is very lucky to have you to help her.
Becca--I do believe you did the right thing. It only takes a minute for the dog to attack and then what. The rules are for everyone. Thanks for taking a stand. Love the pictures glad you had a great time.
Margaret--Thank you for helping out at the accident. People need to protect themselves when someone hits them. Interesting pictures from the fair. Some people has so much talent. Our State Fair started here last Friday and goes until Sept 8th. So many people in town. We have tickets to see the Newsboys on thursday evening so planning to take the bus out and check things out before the show.
Barbie--Sorry to hear you hurt your hip. sending hugs and hope you are better soon.
Kim--How nice of you to help the man out with rides. His wife sounds like I am not sure what, but it was not nice.
Rori--Glad your visit went well. Looking forward to the pictures.
Got to the bottom of page 73 and time to finish up and get ready to go home. Been a very stressful day. Have a good night and type at you all later.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE0 -

Hi all. After 8 1/2 hours of straight meetings I am chatted out. but a couple of comments
Great pictures everyone, thanks for sharing
Joyce continuing prayers!
Sylvia: glad it was nothing worse. About those pesky alarms. Two things; first they should be able to see the read outs at the desk and could see nothing too exciting was going on. However, more likely, 'alarm fatigue'. It's a real thing that has been researched. nurses get so burned out from hearing them, they ignore them. All those alarms can be individualized to patients but sometimes they aren't because it's either against policy to turn them to a different number ( or such a low or high number) or because the nurses just don't. They end up ignoring them, so that when something really happens, they don't notice it. Good for you to mention it; otherwise you just have to demand the nurses change the settings to not go off so often if nothing is wrong with YOU. The monitors just have default settings, for instance, usually heart rate below 50 it will go off. But if you have an athlete whose pulse is usually 42, it just goes off all day. There may be a policy against setting it lower, or nurses just avoid doing it.
Hate to bash the nursing staff since I've been a nurse for more than a third of a century, but there really is lots of research on dealing with it!
OK talked out. Take care, Meg from Omaha0 -

I am sooooo happy to have found you again, Barbiecat! I was a part of the group a few years ago and really enjoyed chatting with you all. I see alot of familiar faces. Life took me in different directions...none of them slimming. So I'm back to MFP and hope to have success getting back on track. This really is a great place for motivation and support!0

Good evening! I'm back home and got some sleep last night. It was awesome to meet Michele and Rori in person--so sweet!!
The trip to see my parents was physically difficult (and, occasionally, mentally) but when I teared up as soon as I saw the mountains come into sight, I knew the trip was long overdue. I need to do a trip farther into the hills by myself again! I ate my mother's cooking so it was nutritious but loaded with calories. I won't bother weighing until Friday. She made biscuits twice!!!!!
Joyce - I'm keeping you and Charlie in my prayers. I missed the beginning of the problem but realize it is very serious. Hugs!
Sylvia - That hospital needs to learn to get along without you! No more sick tummies!
I skipped a couple of days and mostly skimmed to catch up. I'm still tired and plan to go to bed early!
