I know I shouldn't sleep with anybody I don't care about blah blah blah, but I'm at the point where this option is better than being alone and going back to crying everyday and feeling trapped.

Perhaps you should talk to a counselor. Using someone shouldn't make you feel better. Being alone isn't so bad if you have confidence and self respect.

Life is too short to be sleeping with someone you aren't attracted to. My rule of thumb: don't sleep with a guy unless you are completely comfortable with the thought of him possibly being the father of your child. Accidents happen, but at least let the accident be with someone you care about! Dust yourself off, get your head on straight, and let this be a learning experience.
This is awesome advice.
The only thing I can add to this is sometimes it is better to just swallow.

You've received page after page after page of great advice concerning your situation with this guy.... yet you do the opposite and return with even more to add to the problem. Instead of being a "whiney millennial" as you put it, it's your responsibility as an adult to own your issues and stop adding to this thread. Can we move on now?....

I think you and that guy should go on a date and do karaoke at a place neither of you ever goes. That way neither of you will feel embarrassed and you both can just relax and have fun. You're both adults, if that's the kind of relationship you both agree on, then own it. Life's too short to play games.5
