No time for a nice ride today, but I did use the bike to go to the grocery store. A rack would be nice, but was able to fit everything in my messenger bag. Something is better than nothing and this beat driving to the store.

I guess I'm a little late to this thread. I just completed my first Century ride on Saturday, which was a fitness goal of mine for this year. I trained hard for the century, averaging 60 - 100 miles per week. (Most weeks it was 100 miles.) I don't like to ride after dark as I think it's very dangerous. We have had some serious accidents with bicycles at night around here. I do have a flashing rear reflector I use when the sun starts to go down (before sunset). I need to get a little headlight, too, but they can be distracting to drivers, so I prefer the reflectors and a small flashing rear light.

Was a little short last month but had 2 weeks of crazy business hope to not have here. Goal 300
9/2 - 20.01 miles, road bike, Riding with the Wed. night group 15.43 ave.
9/3 - 6.08 miles road bike, short ride so pushed it, 16.02 ave.
9/5 - 16.40 miles, road bike, chased home by a thunderstorm (windy) 14.75 ave
9/6 - 36.1miles, road bike, rode bike trail, 97 degrees, 14.02 ave.
9/9 - 19.97 miles, road bike, rode with the Wed. night group. 15.02 ave.
9/10 - 6.0 miles, road bike, quick ride before it got dark.
9/14 - 11.15 miles, road bike, quick ride before dark, went on 10 hr days at work uuggg!
9/16 - 16.06 miles, road bike, rode with the Wed. night group around Bass Lake.
9/17 - 6.04 miles, road bike, short ride before dark, 10 hr days at work and shortened eve hrs are killing me!
9/23 - 18.99 miles, road bike, rode with the Wed night group. 10 hr work days is killing my goal for this month!

Got in a handful of machine miles on bikes on the cruise ship the past few days as I did some traveling to the western caribbean for some scuba diving. Now that I'm back on dry land today (although it still feels like it is moving) I finally decided to let loose on the TT bike, and with fresh legs managed to hold 20+MPH for about 8 miles of my ride today going into the wind while staying in a pretty comfortable HR range (Z2-Z3). Definitely feeling much more comfortable on the aero bars, but I'll get the bike re-tuned in another 2 weeks as it isn't cleanly shifting up to 8th/9th gears and I may re-dial in a more aero position now that I have more flexibility in my back.

Blew a tire and damaged my wheel so I was down a bike for one week. Rode my MTB for the duration but no long distances and now a rainy weekend ahead so I doubt I will make my goal. No biggie. I was able to ride the UCI road course last night I then watched the pro riders ride it today. Pretty cool.

Got in another intense short ride on the TT bike. Shifting in the small cogs in the back is still a bit dirty, but I was able to sustain 20+ MPH for 14 miles today after a short warmup, keeping my heart rate around 80% of my max even in humid 95 degree weather. Should be able to get in a few hundred more miles of cable stretching workouts before they can fix it at my 60 day tune up in another month.
A friend may twist my arm into joining him at a double ironman next year (Florida double-anvil), but I'll need to ramp my mileage up before trying that sort of distance. Ok with the idea of 224 flat miles on the bike, but the 52 of running afterwards doesn't seem like my idea of fun.

Almost there... wanted to get in a long ride today, but the weather didn't cooperate. Still, made up for quantity with quality. Got my first flat tire on the new bike, as I was hammering a bit too hard up a bridge to notice some broken glass, but managed to get it swapped out quickly and finished the ride. Wiped myself out with 2 expresso sessions (darn high score attempts) today, but managed to get in 34 miles in total. Just have my baseball commutes for tomorrow (split double-header) to wrap up my target for the month. All around good month as I hit my running (150 mile), lifting (9 sessions) and am almost done with my swimming goal as well.
