@Stoshew71 - the write up on your running groups is great! Maybe it will encourage even more participation in your area. Although it sounds like it is already very popular there.
Yes, running is a very popular activity around here. :-)
There are at least 21 group runs each week in the area.
Good luck with those shins and calfs @kareF0 -

@melaniefav41 OMG I love him, "add some happy blue here"
@mwyvr I like Neil Young too always have, I just hate when an entertainer that I paid to see using that platform to discuss his political views (not saying he did just in general). Hello I paid to hear you sing, dance, tell jokes not shove your agenda down my throat.
@patrikc333 wow on your miles, I nope your knees don't fall off too!
@starryeyedsnoozer I hope your son is okay.
@ddmom0811 I'm hysterical reading about your medal at the airport!!!!0 -
@Stoshew71 and anyone else that may know..
We discussed my calorie goal a few days back- I was at 1450/day and not losing. I upped my calories the 3 days going into the HM, ran surprisingly well yadda yadda. Still on an increased calorie intake ~2000 (hungry), and I have definitely lost some fat. Is this an indication that I might consider increasing calorie intake maybe to 1750? Or is this typically of the repair process post big run?
My scale hasn't bugded, so I don't think it's hydration. I'm leaner through the middle and my quads are more defined.
I'm thinking I've put myself in deficit/starvation-ish mode without knowing it at 1450. Little reluctant to get back to 1400ish...
Your body does need the calories to recover from your runs.
You can try 1750 for 3 weeks and see how your body reacts.

@karllundy - your puppy is beautiful! Is she/he a greyhound? I think Hobbes the Vizsla would love running with her!
Thanks! Yes, he's a retired / rescued racing greyhound! Sweetest dog I have ever had! However, greyhounds have no endurance. He loves to run fast for about a half mile, then he lays in the grass and naps the rest of the day.

10/1 - 3.1 miles on the 'mill; plus 5.8 miles / 20 minutes on stationary bike.
10/2 - Had to skip run/workout for a life insurance physical (bloodwork, etc.). Then, they couldn't get me to bleed, so I'm gonna have to do it again! Grrr!
10/3 - 11.5 miles with HM group; cool, beautiful weather!
10/4 - waaaayy overslept!
10/5 - not off to a good start this month; kids up half the night with illness / asthma issues
10/6 - 4.75 miles on a beautiful, cool morning.

Next time someone asks how I run I'm going to say like a greyhound! LOL

@stoshew71 interesting article. It always amazing me when I see people saying "great day" when the person is eating under 1,000 calories a day, are you kidding, that's not a great day, that is not eating enough and hurting your body. Makes my head hurt when I see people eating like 500 calories a day for days at a time.0 -

So, what are recovery runs? I take it they are shorter runs done the day after an especially longer run? Now, what is an especially longer run? Would 6.5 miles count a long run? Often I feel I need to run for a couple of miles they day after. Does that count?0
