I have the USA Invitational HM tomorrow! So excited and nervous as it is my first qualifying event with milestone cutoffs throughout the course (eek!). My husband asked and I wonder now too, why I signed up for this race!!

I hope everyone racing this weekend has a great time!

Good luck tomorrow!! You'll do great! :)

Huh, I just found out that in France, you need a medical certificat to sign up for any race!

I just had to get one last week because I needed it to sign up for a cross-country ski course early next year. I thought it was strange, but I assumed that was just because skiing is dangerous. So I went to a doctor to obtain a piece of paper saying that there are no "counter-indications" against me doing cross-country skiing. All I had to do to get that was tell the doctor my name and date of birth, and hand over 28 Euro consultation fee.

But it seems you have to do that for every sport you want to do.
I already found out in the few weeks I've been here that the French love paper work, but this seems kind of riddiculous to me. Not sure if I want to spend that money, of if I should instead plan all home visits such that they fall on weekends with runs near my family and run there ;-)

Else I'll need to spend another 28 Euro, only for a paper saying there are no indications against "competitive running", which is only valid for one year, then you need to get a new one, because apparently the fact that you ran a 5k a few month ago doesn't mean you are "fit" to do so when the certificate expires, nor does a "okay to do cross-country"-paper translate to running. How annoying is that?

I've never heard of such a thing before. Are there any other countries where you need medical certificates?

I feel like I've been slacking recently, taking 2 days off between runs instead of one. I've been exceptionally busy, though, and I'm proud of myself for remaining somewhat consistent.

Tomorrow I'm off to Cabo! There is a beautiful 3.5 mile stretch right outside where I'm staying that is perfect for running. I'll be gone for one week and my goal is to run at least 3 times - two 3.5 mile runs and one 7 mile run. I won't be on here until I get back so I'll update in a little over a week.

Good luck to everyone racing this next week and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    11/01: 6.19
    11/03: 4.7
    11/05: 3.7

@9voice9 "SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED"...totally cracked me up!
@elise4270 The towel seems cool but imma have to wait until the price drops down to my bracket lol
    @pmm5pla Welcome back!
@shanaber That meme sums up my running life pretty good for right now!
@kristinegift You're gonna do great! Can't wait to get details!
@skippygirlsmom That is one of the sweetest gestures I think I've ever seen! I hope to have someone in my life like that someday :)

My plan is to volunteer tomorrow at the Pumpkin Pie 5k. However, the entire day was spent sleeping on the couch, two shirts, a hoodie, thermal underwear leggings, thick socks, two blankets, my cat, a heating pad, and the heat turned UP. Today is a sick day. But, on the bright side, I could feel a LOT worse than I do! I'm going tomorrow anyway because tomorrow earns me free registration at the Santa Stampede next month and THAT'S the one I want so that I can get an official 5k race time. I've decided that because I'm willing to do some ridiculous things in the name of running, I can officially call myself a runner. I'm owning it!

Runkeeper lost all my data so I have no idea what I've done :'( Has anyone else had this problem?

And more importantly, can someone recommend a better running app?!

I know that I'm behind on my monthly goal anyway. I haven't really run this week as I've spent a lot of evenings in the pub after work. There have been a big round of redundancies so we've been going there together to talk and support those who are losing their jobs. Somethings in life are more important than running! (Who knew?!)

3 miles this morning to shake things out pre-marathon and assess my weird hamstring one more time. It's still about 90-95% -- no more weird loose feelings or worrisome twinges. I'm hoping after 4-5 miles, it'll behave again. If not, I'm prepared mentally for some weird soreness due to compensating for it. But for now, it's probably as good as it's gonna get (but I will continue to ice and foam roll today just to say I did everything in my power to get it up to snuff!).

Strava is a good app. You could just set a new goal for the rest of the month and start from there. Life often gets in the way. Sounds like you're a good friend, being there when others need you.

Try endomundo. And if you log your runs in here every time you run, this thread will serve as a backup.
And @Elise4270 mentioned, strava is a good place to synch endomundo up to.

And I am so sorry about the job situation. I hope you are OK.

I ran 3 miles today - it's been 16 days since I last ran and as the days were passing I was getting more and frustrated. It's been storm after storm here with really strong wind. I'm not going to reach my target but I'll do as much as I can. Reading everyone posts helped keep me motivated to get going again. I started to feel good today as soon as I got my feet into my runners!

Went to the "Normal Meeting Place " for the Saturday Running Club 30 mins early since I am one of the slower plodders - left a note on the dash of my truck as to which route I was going to start on. No one texted/called and never met another runner - Got back to the Java Café and my vehicle was the only one in the parking lot. Reset my CP and received 7 text's saying they were going to change up the route due to the wind and were on the other side of the River in the Shelter of the Trees and Hills. Grrrr.
3.5 Lonely km's up Judah Hill, 2 km cross country to 12 Ft Davis Hill and 2 km back to Java Café. Above the Tree line the wind was brutal - gusty - so constantly pushing you around and getting the odd tree branch whip in the face, which is the reason I always wear glasses, Industrial Safety or Sunglasses depending on the lighting.

Struggling a little bit this month to meet goal due to early sunset, cold, limited terrain and trails due to them being covered in ankle-leg destroying snow.

I have created a monster out of our little Shiatsu mix. She sees me getting my running shoes and turns into a maniac. Looks like I have a running buddy for my regular runs. Only down fall is I end up carrying her little poop bag for a good distance before I find a trash can. :s Don't believe she will make it on my long runs as I am progressively increasing my distance.

    Nov 3 - 4.73 walking
    Nov 5 - 7.00
Nov 6 - yoga and stretches
    Nov 7 - family time
    Nov 8 - family time

    Nov 13 - 3.27 walk
Nov 15 - 5 - took our Shiatsu mix out on my run this morning. I was pleasantly surprised she never slowed down.
    Nov 16 - household chores
    Nov 17 - 4.84
    Nov 19 - 5.23 (4 run, 1.23 walk)
Nov 21 - 3.11 (5K race, last night's outing with the girls left me slow this morning. :p )
