be careful, if you ever do squats you'll end up like this after just one week. j/k of course. look- to get those man muscles you have to have TONS of testosterone in your body, years and years of lifting experience, eating at a caloric surplus every day... it just isn't going to happen. Many guys can't get man muscles and they want them. lol Just go to the gym and lift and do your thing.

I'm going to disagree with most on this board and I'm sure get slammed for it.
I recently ran into a female friend who started lifting heavy last year. Her thighs were huge. I mean seriously man-sized huge. When I first saw her from afar I thought she'd gotten fat, but when she got close (in shorts) she had these huge muscles bulging out from her outer thighs. Those were bulky thighs.
I'm sure she's very proud of them, and rightly so. But they were still bulky.

Op how many "bulky" women do you see walking around daily? How many jacked women that look like body builders have you ever seen in person?
I have no clue where people get this idea from that you can gain muscle by accident.
It's even worse when obese people refer to their sausage arms and legs as "mostly muscle"... Oh, reallllllyyyyyyyy? I'm related to someone that thinks this.0 -

Depends you mean by "man muscles".
Lowering body fat to reveal the muscle you already have? Don't go below 20%, or whatever you choose.
Making the muscles you have significantly larger? Don't take steriods.

Generally, you won't be able to accidentally get man muscles, just like you won't accidentally be a millionaire by getting a job. It takes specific sustained effort.
eh, I don't know about not going under 20%. It all depends on what an individual is going for. I was roughly 15% here and not manly looking.

Her thighs were bigger around than mine were at my heaviest, and thighs are my problem area. I will admit that I have not seen legs that bulky or big on any other women who were not fat, but to say it can't or won't happen without steroids is simply not true.
Of course, it's also easy enough to scale back if you see them starting to get too big. As I said, I'm sure she likes them and is proud of her accomplishments. And I'm happy for her. But it's not something I'd want for myself.0 -

<---- this is what heavy lifting did to bulk up my legs. I use these legs to do squats and deadlifts, and then leg press, leg curls, kickbacks, lunges, etc.
After 7 months of lifting really heavy stuff, I am an epic failure at bulking. They just got harder and the cellulite started to go away.0 -

I do have quite a few hormone problems but when I did a weight training for high school my muscles were not lean lovely girly muscles. Ask your doctor if you feel you bulk instead of lean maybe a hormone irregularity you have.0

You HAVE to read New Rules of Lifting For Women! Even if you dont do the strenth program (I read the bookand then decided to do Strong Lifts 5x5 because I'm too sleepy at 5 AM in the gym to figure out new lifts all the time! And the Strong Lift App Rocks)
Basically the entire premise of the book is that if you want that awesome, lean. "toned" look you should "Lift like a man to look like a godess." Eat lots of protein and do COMPOUND lifts. Compound lifts, like the squat, deadlift, barbell row etc will do WONDERS for you female curves.
I recently started lifting and OMG...it ia like I'm getting a mini buttlift every couple weeks haha! My inches get smaller, and the muscles just look "toned"
Even eating a TON of protein, lifting regularly and doing mountain biking, hiking, and yoga...I am not even close to building any "MAN" Muscles... Its Freakin hard to get "girl" muscles as it is :laugh:0 -

My testosterone levels are 3x higher than the average woman. I'm far from bulky.

As far as advice, lifting is just going to make you toned ... women are not built to "bulk" agree on the lack of T and stay away from the HGH and Roids, lift and lift often bc you have nothing to worry about would be my advice.
