Wednesday (Jan 13) was a beautiful day! 34°C degrees and bright sunshine ... so we went to the beach after work. And there were WAVES! Apparently there was a 3 metre swell out there resulting in the biggest waves I've seen on our beach. We spent some time in the water, but only up to my waist. Those waves made me just a little bit nervous. We left as the storm clouds were gathering and as we neared home (walking, of course, the beach is only about 1 km away), the thunder and lightening started. And the minute we set foot inside the house, the sky opened up and the rain poured down. We haven't had a good storm in a while!! And then we had "Day 2" of my slow cooker chicken veg curry ... always better on the second day.
Thursday (Jan 14) reached a high of 17°C and toward the end of the day they were predicting snow down to 1200 metres.

1/7 - 5.22 miles, 282 calories, 25 minutes, road bike, great 50* January day. Just did have time to ride much.

TODAY WAS A GREAT DAY! YES IT WAS!!! Bright, sunny, temps up, a bit windy but glorious! I got in two walks with my girls today..yahoooooooooooooooooooooo and THAT gave me 5.0 Walking Miles... I know I will not meet my goal BUT there is no way I could meet that NOW...lol

This was the Campbell Town Canter 200K put on by my club, Audax Tasmania.
I haven't ridden a 200K since March 2012, and getting back into randonneuring again was one of the main reasons I decided to come here and lose weight and get fit. This was one of my goals for 2016 and I'm so pleased to have successfully completed the ride with my husband!

I sure wish I could ride like that. I think most everyone knows I live in the mountains. I dont have a lot of outside riding area that is not all up hill..STEEP hills! lol..... but when I can ride outside I do my best. THANKS for sharing. I left you a comment there...

Yes, it is very hilly here in Tasmania too. Little island of mountains. We live on a 14% grade road which I've yet to cycle all the way up, so if we're going to go anywhere from home, there will be climbing.
When I first moved here and was about 50 lbs heavier than I am now, I really struggled to cycle anywhere. I had so much trouble getting all that weight up the hills. My love of cycling was motivation to lose that weight, so I could actually ride again.
Fortunately, the 200K was held further north where the terrain flattens out a little bit. Still there was at least 640 metres of climbing in that, but that's not too bad.

My Januarys have never been particularly brilliant in terms of cycling distance, but this January was the best one I've had since I started cycling "seriously" in 1990!! I beat my previous PB by 65 km. I wasn't even thinking about doing that ... just trying to cycle as much as I could in preparation for that 200K.

just re-looked at my spreadsheet for the month and it wasn't calculating correctly.
So I've achieved 59.5 miles walking - target achieved and beaten!!!
