Good morning, ladies! Happy Mardi Gras! Having some issues with my ankles the past few days, so I haven't been walking my normal daily mileage! Kind of bumming, but hoping it is just needing new shoes.
Sylvia- You must have a lot of patience to be able to juggle your frustrated son and energetic grand kids. Hats off to you and hang in there!
Pip- Love your reply to CCSJ09's picture! Bangin' is right! Also, love the pic of you and Kirby! You look so happy!
CCSJ09-I love the dress and you look stunning in it!
Allie- Hang in there with Tom! My hubby is getting the same way, as he gets older. Some days I feel like I am walking on egg shells. I wonder if men have an equivalent to menopause...that must be their problem.
I have my house decorated to celebrate Mardi Gras with my kiddos. Purple, yellow, and green crepe hanging, masks hanging and ready to be decorated by kids, balloons, fleur de lis...this year I am doing something a little different than making Kings Cake with them. We are making individual cakes for each child, so that I don't have all of that leftover cake in my house! Whoever finds the baby in their cake will be "King for the day" tomorrow.
Welcome to all of the new friends!0 -

CSSJ09 – Great-looking dress. Dresses like his are very flattering on it. Nothing makes you feel better than a new dress; especially, bought to wear ‘out in public’ I’ve been thrilled when I have taken in some clothes that needed to be altered to the ‘tailor’ who I use; I need to take some back. He told me that I needed to wait to until I am closer to my goal weight. Will be talking to nurse/MD to find out what my goal weight to figure out how much I should lose and still look healthy’
I think both my DH and I realized this past weekend how we both have been hurting with not be able to do to go to the bathroom. He is supposed to go to his urologist the end of the month; I will go back to GYN in mid-March for a cystoscopy; then maybe they can figure out what is going on with me after that test. Seems like the last time I had this done was several years ago; and, he discovered that my bladder was smaller than it should be and was having non-stop spasms. I'm peeing 'ok' now; but, still feeling constipated even though I've taken something for that ... still has not working like it should be
Welcome to all the newbies. Please tell us what you'd like to be called; and where you live (general or specific, and about your family, hobbies and all that.
To all have been here - keep chunking along -- we know what you are going through; wish we could be there to give you {{{{{hugs}}}}}
Love to all of you!

CSSJ09, you look awesome in that dress...celebrate your awesomeness
I finally got an e mail that there are results from the blood test (the one with ten vials of blood) that was done on January 21....I haven't looked at the results because I won't understand them and might possibly get upset by what I see so I'll wait a day and if I haven't heard from the doctor, I'll call and ask when he wants to see me to explain the results.
Now I'm off to do one of my favorite things--walk dogs and listen to audio books (currently a Jesse Stone book by Robert B. Parker)

Good morning!
CSS ... You look great in the dress!
Barbie ... I recently received the results of some blood work ... My doctor never followed up with a report, so I spent hours looking things up. I'll be having a discussion about that next time I see her ... I hope you get good news with yours.
Have a great day, ladies!

Good morning ladies... today I will see how long I can concentrate on something without having to have a nap.... I hope to go back to work tomorrow. Must stop taking all that crappy over the counter cold medications, I haven't taken them for a few years, they give me burning BM's .... need to get over that today too... sure don't want to spend my work day in the bathroom....
Later everyone

well, today is the day... I'm gonna ride home from work. was going to do it yesterday but I had 2 panniers and my bags were a bit heavy for the first ride home. I could have done it but this is the first ride since the accident and I wanted to be carrying a lighter load ESPECIALLY since there are some serious hills that I have to climb. if I stand up on the bike (works the shoulder more) I want to do it on a lighter bike. we will see how this goes., will be around 10 mi. I'm looking on the bright side, more calories to burn :0)0 -
Dear Ladies,
Thank you all for the wonderful remarks about the dress. I finally see progress. It is the first and only clingy dress i can remember wearing since university days. Reading your compliments will make it easier for to lose the last 20 pounds and work on getting muscles. I used to have an exercise buddy and that made it hard to skip a single day regardless of the reason.
I am very interested in the relationship between weight loss, clutter and minimalism. Terri in Ireland and her organizing has spurred me to put together some information about minimalism, something that I have been trying to practice for over 15 years. I will start a new thread on this club for anyone interested and let everyone know the url.
Lenora, your idea of brackets for Becca's tennis racket earring holder is a great idea.
Allie I hate to even suggest this for Tom, but...has he been evaluated by a neurologist? Personality and mood changes are often the earliest signs of something physical, long before gross physical symptoms appear. I am not saying that Tom has anything like this but it could be something really minor that needs a tiny tweak that will make a huge difference.
I am waiting for someone to show up for a meeting scheduled for an hour ago. Yesterday, she canceled. I will reread your lovely comments about my weight loss and use that as ammunition to stay away for the munchies always out for guests. They are all healthy and include fresh fruit, dried fruit and nuts but it all adds up.

CSSJ09 ~ Late to comment, but you look fabulous. I haven't worn a dress in years. No waistline and hate the way I look.
Joyce ~ Your words to Sylvia are so wise. You show such understanding for a totally bad situation.
Lenora ~ It's too bad that your DIL and DOS live right next to you. Too much closeness is not good.
I went to the dentist (which I commented on yesterday) and it was not a bad experience except I had to wait forever for her to do the work after I had x-rays. I am shocked that everything in her office is computerized from signing in to digital x-rays to paying, etc. When I see all that, it just makes me think that a bucket full of money has gone into the business and I wonder how they actually make money paying for the equipment and the staff.

Afternoon Ladies,
Fighting another nasty cold...
Honest to goodness this is ridiculous.. I am trying to keep things on the up and up.
And yes I agree there could be something going on with Tom but he is stubborn and pigheaded and won't go unless he can't move..0 -
Hallo everyone!
Finally recovering from my jab. Feeling my energy return. It always reminds me, when I feel like that, how hard some people have it who have debilitating illnesses. The yoga this morning got rid of most of the remaining sore arm
Went to dentist in the afternoon. All is well, so just a cleaning.
Then instead of doing my writing I came home and made lamb and turnip stew and then went online to look up learning Norwegian. I have a book, but was sure I was mispronouncing everything. Found a series of lessons on Utube by a young woman which is perfect. Listened to three lessons. There are a few more so I'm happy. I just want the basics, but obviously want to say it correctly. She is totally bilingual.
Still no post from Michele.
No pancakes today for us. I can't be trusted around them and I have to be extra careful on yoga days as it doesn't burn many calories.
Love to all. Heather UK

Got call from Charlie's GI doctor. He is now C Diff negative again!!!!!! So now I have to schedule his infusion again. Another $571 expense. I wish I didn't wake up so exhausted. Feel like I could go take a nap and sleep 3 hours.
I can't remember who was wearing that black and white dress, but WOWZA! I couldn't see a face though. I would imagine when you walk in a room, all eyes would be on the dress and figure. Congrats.

Good afternoon!
I just read Heather's comment about pancakes. I can't remember the last time I had pancakes. Well, actually the boy child shared a taste of one of his a couple of days ago, but a gluten-free pancake with no butter and no syrup simply doesn't count!!
Don't have too much to say. Just slogging along and dealing with a lot of joint pain. However I did realize this morning that I had missed three days of thyroid meds so I need to be grateful that painful joints is the only problem I'm having!
Boy child is looking at a truck tomorrow. I so hope it meets with his approval. I'm really tired of not having transportation!
Back to work I go...

Lost 3 more pounds; and 1 more point and BMI. Thrilled! Then went back to GYN to be checked rectally; not the most pleasant thing her does. At least I don't have a blockage. Told me to get a bottle of Magnesium Citrate and take it when I got home; and, then take the Mirilax every night ... until it starts looking like it can be passed easier. Told me to call PscyheMD's office and ask them about the Geodon I take; recently had lowered the Rx to 20mg; had previously been down to 40mg (maybe - I'd have to look at it). He did not want me to change it until after I have talked to him. I hope I get an answer today, since he only sees patients on Mondays and Thursdays.

I will fly to Denver next weekend to attend the memorial service for my great-nephew. I also have not seen my three sisters that live there (and all my other nieces and nephews, etc.) in almost two years. Will be staying at my oldest daughter's home and my youngest girl will drive up from Lubbock with her 15 yo daughter.
Today I walked 3 miles on the treadmill in one hour. I was proud of myself. My husband finally came in to the garage and said you are not still walking are you? But by then I was stretching. I sang to my old favorite CD, The Platters. I have exercised to it for probably 20 years now, along with other oldies.
I have daffodils coming up in the garden, one even has a bud on it. Hope they don't get frozen. I'll have to take a picture of the rock and metal cactus and other metal garden stuff I brought home from AZ. I also brought some live cactus but will have to leave them in pots so I can bring them in during the winter months. We usually only get below freezing from November to February or early March.
Jack went to the cardiologist this morning. His bad cholesterol was good but his good cholesterol was not. He told him to walk 30 minutes a day. I've been trying to encourage him to do so for two years now. Hope he does it.
Still worrying over Michele.

Well I have been gone long enough to have almost 400 posts to read. My friend Lee that lost her husband last summer ended up coming to the hospital and having surgery Friday for prefated bowel. Saturday her stats were so low they moved her to ICU and called family. So I spent a good part of the weekend sitting with her. She is doing a lot better and they are talking of moving her out of ICU later today. So I have really nothing to show for the last 4 days off. Weigh in this morning I am the same as last week so glad about that.
Janetr--Sending prayers and hugs for you and your family.
Penny--Congrates at being at your lowest weight in 8 years.
Rori--Sounds like you have plans to get all exams done. I have to reschedule my doctor and eye appointments as they were cancelled because of the storm. I just have been spacing it off, did get my lab work done.
Lenora--Crackers is very cute and looks like he would be a lot of fun.
Sylvia--Sure hope you are feeling better and please do not leave us. Sorry you are having a tough time, remember One day at a time and don't give up
Well I am up to the middle of page 19 so back tomorrow. About time to get off work and going to go up and sit with my friend in ICU for a couple hours. They were to move her today and haven't so need to find out what is going on. Take care ladies.

Barbie: I hope you are happy with what your doctor tells you about the blood test results. I think you're making a wise decision to wait and hear it directly from the doctor. :flowerforyou:
Lillian: I hope you are better soon. :flowerforyou:
Pip: Ride safely.
Allie: I hope you are not experiencing the kind of lingering illness we had in December and early January. We'd be slightly better for a day or two, and then down with it again. I'll send loads of healthy thoughts your way.
Leonora: Congrats on the loss!!!!!!!
I'm back from the orthopedist. He wants to know why I'm not taking meds for bone density. Two broken wrists are strong evidence that I need something, as are two bone density tests that show increasing bone loss. My doctor never suggested that I should take something. If my doctor is not doing something by my next visit he will prescribe something that will increase my bone density. This is more evidence that I need a new primary care doctor. I will start the process before the end of the week. Here is something funny--the orthopedist is all for horseback riding but thinks I should not do yoga. I laughed at that but he was telling me that my wrist is not ready for the weight load yet so I'll continue with the modifications I've been doing for a while longer.
Have a great day.

Scratch one thing off DH's bucket list = we saw AC/DC live. Good fun, however it's taken about 12 hours for the ringing in my ears to stop. If that is the last big arena rock show I ever see, that's fine by me. Onto other adventures.
Janet: If you want to meet up while you're in CO, message me. Will understand if the circumstances are not conducive to leaving family members.
Hope we hear from Michele and DJ soon....worried!

Feeling great today, even though I have tons of work still to do. It will get done.
Today was arm day. We did 9 different exercises, 3 sets of 15 each: Dumbbells, pulleys, bars, oh my! I only know the names of a couple of them so won't even attempt to describe them. Then we did abs: hearts, reverse hearts, bicycles, and earthquakes. Three sets of 20 each. I'm not going to lie. I tried, but I slacked a little on those. I did 1 mile on the elliptical to warm up before all that and 1.8 miles on the treadmill afterwards. Then I had lunch with my daughter (turkey sandwiches from the Amish store), played bridge for two and a half hours, and tutored for another hour. I am finally home in front of the fire, but still need to cook spinach omelets for our supper. I also need to do the Ash Wednesday bulletin, the minutes from a meeting on Saturday, and my sermon.
Later,
K

Well munching on my revamped banana bread mini loaves every morning. Love the fact that they are only 281 calories. Husband and I went to the pool/gym this morning. Averaging 4 times a week, so we are consistent. If it wasn't for my husband I probably wouldn't attend as much, I am not a morning person! I haven't been doing laps, but I have been stretching in the "warm pool", doing lift-ups up on the sides of the pool. The pool has a ballet bar, so its fun to pretend I am a ballerina... My muscles feel just as warm afterwards, as if I had done laps so I think I will stick to my aqua aerobics.
I have been writing in my journal nightly, and I have finally realized that all the diet programs in the world don't make me as proud of myself as I feel these days. To know that it's been all ME doing this, and succeeding is better then any feelings I felt when I would drink Slim-fast, or eat Jenny Craig food, or sip this or that shake. It's food that Becca likes, and in amounts doable. We are succeeding in our own programs where as Oprah, with all her money, trainers, and opportunities hasn't been able to get it right. I find that amazing. "When we figure out whats eating us, we won't eat so much". It's easy to allow another companies motivational tactics to speak and act for us. We are just puppets, and don't succeed, (they want us to fail really, so they can get more money from us). I refuse to let them speak for me. I refuse to let them dictate ME.
Over the last year, I have found that if I really listen to what my body desires, I will feed it what it needs. Sometimes this process of hunting and gathering what I need takes time. It takes planning. I am worth the time, and the planning. I shall not settle for food I might not wish, but to just have.
So my husband today says he recognizes my struggles, and thanked me for all the time and effort. He has noticed that I don't complain when I fix my son and him hamburgers, while I am having some boiled carrots with walnuts, a bit of margarine and brown sugar. I confessed that most women wouldn't be as understanding as I am. That felt good to hear him say that. I told him if I do feel stressed about cooking a meal that I am not eating, I will eat FIRST then cook theirs. I told him that this is my journey and I don't expect him or our son to eat what I am fixing. My son is quite the carnivore, while I use proteins as "flavoring agents" in my cooking.
So as you can tell, I am at a good place these days. Thank you everyone for helping me when I am struggling. Your words of encouragement I have gobbled up like skittles.
My journey isn't so much about my destination, but more the journey itself. In learning how to cook more healthy, one thing I am glad that I am keeping is my PLEASURE with eating food. In the past, I had looked into gastric bypass. The thought of only eating a quarter cup of this or that, seemed so scary for me. For the ladies that have done it, no disrespect. Every person is different. I am a spinacholic. I shall always be one. Sometimes I eat it every meal. So sauteing that with some rice, and other veggies and sprinkling it with some Parmesan cheese is my ultimate meal. Putting that into a cupful just isn't doable for me.
My latest fad are Shitake' mushrooms. When I saute them they taste like a protein, dense, and earthy.
Well, thanks for letting me rant and rave. And nope I didn't whine.
